Aesthetically Pleasing Comfort”
we decided to spend more this time and stay at the Shanghai Mansion. With the Agoda special rate, it was worth every penny. Our four-poster king-size bed was very comfortable. Some rooms face outward onto the street (but with colored tinted windows there's no way to look in or out), while ours faced the interior of the hotel, so it didn't have any natural light, but it was so dark and quiet that we had the best sleep we've had in months. Be sure to request which type of room you want when you book and double-check with the receptionist when you check in. The vintage Chinese decor was tastefully done, and the warm colors and Chinese lanterns created a romantic setting for our holiday. The staff were genuinely friendly, and Mr. Is the doorman was always ready to help us with a smile on his face. The internet was good. The bar had live music every night, with some good local jazz musicians. There's a 7-11 a few steps away from the entrance on one corner and at the other end of the block is T&K Seafood, a very cheap dinner option if you're in the mood for delicious, fresh seafood in an authentic streetfood setting. The location is generally good, right in the middle of China Town. It's very close to the central train station, Hua Lamphong. However, it's far from the BTS stations. Taxis all knew of the place, and were able to get us to Siam Shopping centre for around 60 baht. Walking one block over to the next parallel street got us into some lighter traffic, where it was faster and easier to get a taxi out of China town. The breakfast was good, with a mix of Western breakfast standards, Chinese food and also some savory Thai rice porridge. The freshly extracted juice made to order from local fruits was a nice touch. Overall, we were very happy with our time at the Shanghai Mansion and will probably stay there again next time we're in Bangkok.

An incredible find in the crazyiness of Bangkok”
After a sleepless night at a noisy and not particularly nice (also not particularly pricey) hotel I decided to go out on a limb and try out the Shanghai Mansion in spite of having no interest in China town. It was absolutely fantastic--the Shanghai Mansion will always from here on out be my initial go to for a place to stay in Bangkok. I'm not sure I have anything bad to say about our stay--the style of decoration both in the rooms and in the various common areas around the hotel are fantastic. The room was spacious enough and the bathroom, in spite of not being that large, felt really spacious. There are plenty of small touches as well like everything in the in room bar is included in the price of the room and there are snacks around the hotel in bowls which are also free. The breakfast was fantastic, the service was great. I would highly recommend it and plan on staying there on my subsequent Bangkok trips.

Beautiful boutique hotel with outstanding service”
We stayed at Shanghai Mansion as the first stop on our honeymoon in Thailand. We were looking for a special experience that was not extremely pricey (for Thailand), and we found all of that and more with Shanghai Mansion. For an extremely reasonable price, we were able to book one of their Mu Dan suites, which is not only spacious, but beautifully decorated and includes a huge and luxurious bath tub. You truly feel as if you have stepped into another time and place. Our lovely room was right next to their soothing fishpond that successfully sets the zen tone for the whole experience. The rooms are maintained wonderfully, and there are always treats in the mini-bar that are free of charge, which is a nice bonus. The other half of this wonderful experience is the great customer services that we experienced from the moment our taxi pulled up in front of the hotel. We were greeted at the reception with cold fruit juice and cool minty towels to refresh us after our travel. From the front desk staff to the bellboys to the restaurant staff, everyone goes above and beyond to be helpful, friendly and welcoming. Navigating Chinatown can be intimidating, but all we had to do was tell one of the staff what we wanted to do, whether it be finding a great food stand or a thai massage, and they would point us in the right direction. Finally, we ended up extending our time in Bangkok to deal with some unexpected work issues that required us to have ongoing internet access (yes, on our honeymoon), and booked a less expensive room online for the additional nights since we had not budgeted to spend an entire week at the cost of the suite. As soon as our new reservation appeared in their system, we received a call from the front desk saying they wanted to upgrade us free of charge so that we could stay in our suite for the remaining 4 days of our visit, which we deeply appreciated.

Shanghai Mansion Hotel”
We started our honeymoon in Thailand and stayed at the Shanghai Mansion Hotel. We had a lovely stay! The room was clean, spacious and had all the amenities we required. We were offered a complimentary Thai massage and afternoon dim sum high tea which were both superb. All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in China Town with lots of places around with delicious foods to try. Despite being in the hustle and bustle of China Town you really could not tell in the room. There was no outside noise and there were no disruptions. We paid extra one morning for the buffet breakfast. There was plenty to choose room and we both thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts. I'd highly reccomend to anyone looking to stay in Bangkok and I would gladly come back to stay again!

Beautiful and lovely”
Stayed for 2 nights. As soon as you walk into Shanghai Mansion you are captured by the rich colours and attention to detail which creates the beauty of the place. The rooms are romantic with unique touches - birdcages hanging in the showers and four poster beds adorned in oriental fabrics - that give this hotel its boutique charm. We stayed here for the beginning of our honeymoon and it was the perfect start. Very romantic, with the warmest welcome and fantastic smooth jazz band playing the night away to cocktails in the evening in their hotel bar. Turn right out of the hotel to get the most amazing street food and pop up seafood restaurants, bags of fresh fruit, sticky rice and mango - what more could you want? Cannot recommend this place enough!!! Great value for money for a true boutique hotel right in vibrant and energetic china town. Will definitely be staying here again when we return to Bangkok!!!

Stunning! Best kept secret in Bangkok ”
This is my 6th time at the Shanghai Mansion so I clearly love it! I know often get an upgrade to a suite which is absolutely beautiful. The staff know your name and acknowledge you with a smile. It is so beautiful and well priced. I find the bigger chain hotels quite cold and unwelcoming. Shanghai Mansion is a haven amongst the craziness of Chinatown. The food OMG is incredible. Chinatown is a foodies heaven. Don't be afraid to try everything on the street. There are quite often photo shoots at Shanghai Mansion it really is that stunning. The suites are worth the extra dollars. The bathtub is big enough to swim in. I also did a cooking lesson at The hotel and it was great. I was the only person so it was 1 on 1 and great fun, no I can take the food home with me!

Lovely Hotel with Great Style and Service”
My boyfriend and I chose Shanghai Mansion for it's unique look and it's location. Not only is it in the middle of China Town, but it is also not far from the ferry and train station. This made it a great base camp to see the sights of Bangkok and other areas of Thailand. Bangkok is a crazy city, but once inside the Shanghai Mansion the surroundings are calming and zen. The fresh scent of the hotel contrasted greatly with the not so good smells on the street. Very refreshing! We were enjoyed our stay there very much. The service was great! As soon as we walked in the door, we were immediately greeted, relieved of our belongings, and given tea. The staff was polite, friendly, and very helpful. The breakfast included in our stay was good and there were many different options to choose from. We would highly recommend staying at the Shanghai Mansion. It's a cool place to check out and you will enjoy your stay!

Cozy Decor”
Shanghai Mansion is such a breath of fresh air in a hotel world of cookie cutter poshtels and reused, tired aesthetics. Everywhere throughout the hotel has such a warm, sophisticated, personal touch but never felt cheesy or over the top. My wife and I stayed in a superior room for the night as a part of a China Town staycation. The location was perfect and we loved being able to step outside and be right in the heart of everything, but never hear a peep of noise inside. The rooms were wonderful and had everything we needed, the oversized coconut shampoo & conditioner were a nice touch as well. The only complaint we had was that the air conditioner was loud and made noises all throughout the night waking us several times. However, I did tell the staff at checkout the next day and they seemed sincerely apologetic and would look into it. All in all, a great place that we definitely enjoyed and hope to be able to come back to soon.

Very very value for the money!!!”
after reading all the reviews on agoda, decided to give it a try on shanghai mansion, to my surprise, the rooms look 100% the same as it is in the picture. nice decor, huge room, super clean, no weird smell nothing. the buffet was simple and nice, hotel staff are very friendly, the only one thing is, you need to be fine with the location china town, as transport might be alittle bit of problem if you want super convenient location. you needa be out of the hotel early morning to avoide the jam and come back at late night after your shoppings. everything in the mini bar is literally free, the room was clean and set up after i am back from my shopping and they refill the mini bar again.. i really cant ask for more for paying such a price, its really a steal yet the potray such excellent service and quality which perhaps 5 star hotel cant met, who ever is the management, you get my respect!

Elegant, clean and quiet rooms ”
I stayed for three nights and would dearly have liked to have stayed longer. I booked through Agoda and believe the price was well worth it. I had read a couple of negative reviews about the place before I booked it and so was slightly apprehensive, but having stayed there, I can now see that those who had problems with things like 'the concrete floors', and the distance from the sky train were simply whingers. The floors are polished concrete, which keeps the rooms nice and cool and a tuk tuk to Hua Lumpong station (from where you can get the subway to the skytrain in about 5 mins) costs 60 baht and takes about 10 minutes (even in heavy traffic). Note, the going price for a tuk tuk is definitely 60 baht: a price I insisted upon, but then I always tipped more at the end of the journey. If I am lucky enough to return to Bangkok I will definitely try to stay at the Shanghai Mansion Boutique Hotel again.

Great hotel thats aims high”
this was our final hotel we stayed at after a two week trip through thailand. and it was the most interesting hotel we stayed at. the hotel is located within china town and that makes finding great food on the street easy. also as the name suggests, it has a oriental decor theme which is executed nicely. the hotel is very clean and rooms are very comfortable, except for the very firm mattress. the staff are first class and perhaps the best we encountered along our journey which included a 5 star resort in koh samui. they are extremely friendly and very helpful. this is without doubt the best value for money hotel we stayed at during our journey. the best part of our stay with the shanghai mansion boutique hotel would definitely be the talented jazz band that was playing for 9pm onwards in the restaurant, it was an amazing finish to a great trip sitting in the restaurant having drinks and just relaxing to good music.

Like being in a movie”
After seeing photos of this hotel I HAD to stay there. A lot of places don't live up to the photographs, but this one definitely does. Gorgeous hotel and rooms, very comfy. Great place to take portraits (I bought a cheongsam--Chinese gown--before my trip and had photos done in our room and in the lobbies. Even the elevators are beautiful. Loved the way the shower and toilet got their own separate doors, and the bathtub was dreamy and big. Nice toiletries in a cute makeup bag. Hot water and A/C were great. Free mini bar included one beer, one cola, one lime soda, a bag of Lays and a pack of 3 Oreos. Thorough, discreet room service. We didn't have a problem with the lock on the door--seemed safe enough. Besides, there are very few people ever walking around on the floors where your room is. Never saw a single pest, no cockroaches or flies or anything. Completely clear of that (had been nervous when reading reviews). Great English movie channels; so surreal watching Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom opening music sequence and feeling like I was IN it at the time. Location is not too far from Old Siam and the Grand Palace, closest to Hua Lamphong station (which is very convenient if you fly into DMK and want to take the local train straight there). Taxi should cost about 100THB or less to get from station to hotel--don't try to walk, it's too far. I splurged over 80 bucks a night for this place, wishing I'd reserved in advance and saved 20 or so. Great deal if you plan ahead. Staff was excellent and unobtrusive. Check in and out smooth. Only frustration was my husband and I had a hard time finding dinner we wanted in Chinatown. We've both lived in Asia for years so not terribly picky, but we're just not into fatty meats and tons of fried stuff. But that's a small issue, and we would definitely stay again. Thanks for a great few days, Shanghai Mansion!

Honeymoon”
We stayed in Shanghai Mansion hotel for three nights on our honeymoon, and we both absolutely loved it! Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great with lots of choices. The hotel itself from the inside is breathtakingly beautiful. This hotel is not for budget travelers though. The hotel is located in China town and not far away (15 minutes) from some of the largest shopping malls in Bangkok. Highly recommended!

Lovely Boutique Hotel”
We stayed over the Shanghai Mansion for 4 nights on the second part of our Honeymoon. The room has plenty of space, and as some stated in earlier reviews, it's beautifully decorated in an romantic chinese style. Notice that there are no "real" windows, so the light you get is mostly artificial. This helps the ambientation, but could be a negative point for some. We saw some rooms upstairs (cheaper ones) with natural light coming in from the windows. It is situated in the heart of Bangkok's Chinatown, you will be within a tuk tuk / taxi distance of the main sightseeing points in the city (Khao San Road, Grand Palace, PatPong, Wat Po, Wat Arun, etc). Breakfast was great, with many options (some fresh and hot from the kitchen) and good clean food. Service was very dependable and willing to help. Their english wasn't great, but good enough to get across. We live in Argentina so ours isn't great either. They give you complimentary (free) bottles of water, iced tea cans, beer and pepsi cans, as well as some snacks, tea and cofee. This was really a nice touch, after hours walking in the heat and chaos of Bangkok. The king sized bed was great and very confortable. Our sink got clogged and they fixed it right away... no problem... Only thing this hotel was lacking, in our point of view, was a swimming pool. Overall, it was a great stay in a very nice, romantic and not overpriced hotel. Highly recommended!

Accomodation with character”
I picked this hotel for its promised character and good location and was not disappointed. The hotel does not have a grand entrance off the street, but once inside the old world charm is a great change from the plethora of modern style hotels in Bangkok.I have stayed in a lot of hotels in Thailand with similar 'Lana style' but the Shanghai Mansion is definitely different with its bright Chinese colours and old Colonial style architecture. Despite its location it is one of the quietest hotel rooms I have stayed in. The bed is big and comfortable, the linen is good quality and the shower is the best! This is the first hotel in Thailand that I have been able to get continuous hot (hot) water out of any time of the day or night. The staff, are always friendly and very helpful and a special mention of the doormen who are the first staff you meet. These guys are very friendly and always keen to help. The location is great for just walking out the door and finding the busiest and (I think-the best markets in Bangkok).-including the old wholesale markets(watch out for Vespas!,the carparts and accessories market and the night sidewalk secondhand market. Also within 50 metres of the hotel, the best steamed crab or walk a bit further and find the best Chinese restaurants and street food vendors. I would recommend this hotel for a minimum 2 day stay as there is a lot to do within walking distance of the front door and if you walk another block to the subway station ,the whole of Bangkok is accessible via the subway and the Skytrain link.

Incredible place”
My family and I love the Shanghai Mansion! We arrived late night with one sleeping child and another extremely bleary eyed. From the moment we got to the door the staff did everything to make our arrival easy and pleasant. The first impression of the hotel is impressive and continues to be so the more you explore. Our room was beautiful, we all enjoyed the bath immensely! Service was kind, and efficient, the place is very clean. We loved staying in the absolute heart of China Town, the street food is amazing, and the hotel provides info to help you eat your way through the neighborhood. We didn't treat ourselves to the spa treatment, and I kind of regret it, it looked superb! There were some minor details that I felt would have helped, such as fresh bouquets in the lobbie/foyer areas instead of immitation, and clearer room service procedure, but overall the place is wonderful.

Amazing hotel! Must stay ”
Our stay at Shanghai mansion was amazing. The hotel has a great concept- a colonial Chinese theme, which is done well and carries all throughout the interiors, the rooms are well furnished, we loved the theming and furniture especially the four posterd bed. The room and hotel were clean and well maintained. The staff were so friendly and helpful, they even gave us free minibar snacks for the 2 nights we stayed! The Buffet breakfast has a massive selection, very tasty. The hotel is in such a good location right in the heart of china town! So many great food stalls and restaurants and markets nearby. Will definitely be staying here again!

Unlike most hotels. Very artistic!”
we had a lovely stay in the hotel. i was so excited about the shanghai-inspired theme that i read about and shanghai mansion indeed went beyond my expectations. the artistry of the interiors is excellent. it's not one of those boutique hotels that says it's running a certain theme but does not stick to it in some aspects. the room is spacious. the big is bed. also, i'm quite surprised that even the non-english speaking thai cab drivers know where shanghai mansion is. we were never lost versus going to someplace else in bangkok which i expected the cab drivers would know about.
