Felt like I was a part of their family”

I loved staying at De Wiang Kum Kam. While it was a little out of Chiang Mai center, I felt like I was getting an authentically Thai experience, and genuinely felt like I was a part of the owner's family. Nothing was too much trouble for him! I rented a scooter to get around, and the owner called the rental company and arranged for them to deliver a scooter to the hotel for me to rent -- 20 minutes later I was scooting around all the ruins and temples in the area. Was only a 10-minute ride into the walled city area. I would absolutely recommend this place again for someone who wants something with a "rural" feel just a short drive away from the buzzing restaurant, bar, & shopping scene in Chiang Mai

My stay at the De Wiangkumkam Hotel was very nice and the hotel was well located with great service. Ileft some medication in my room by mistake. when I rang the owner and told him about my sill forgetfull mistake he made sure i got my medications back very quickly.

Relaxing stay in family hotel, spotlessly clean.”

Nice friendly hotel in the ancient city of Wiangkumkam. Don't confuse this with the walled city of Chiang Mai. Situated in the middle of the local sites and with horse carriages waiting to take you on tour for a very reasonable charge. This place is a tranquil oasis well worth visiting but only minutes away from the bustling city.

Fantastic stay!”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is different to your usual places to stay but in our opinion even better. The room was so sweet, the hosts and team were the nicest, most accommodating in every way and for us the location was fantastic. Right opposite a beautiful temple where you can see Monks working away, get a massage and some lovely locals with stalls. They are not pushy or demanding, just really really nice. You can jump on a bike and ride into town or visit or the temple ruins. The city is close enough to go in and enjoy then come away to fresh air and peace and quiet. The local stray dogs are always up for a free feed so don't forget to grab some pet food and feed them. The host will organise everything for you if you want to do any day trips and even drive you to places if you need help! The pool is lovely, the local wildlife is a delight - you can't ask for a better place to stay to experience the real thing!

Lovely place a bit out of the way”

We stayed here for 3 nights during the Loy Krathing festival. Finding the hotel took a while, but with the help of some locals we got there eventually. We had plenty of parking space in front of the hotel since there is nothing much around (except for a Wat opposite). The hotel has a very nice design and our room was surprisingly big and clean. The bathroom was also nice and had good waterpressure in the shower. Breakfast was ok, a choice of Thai or European food. The hotel staff was nice, even though most of them did not understand a word of English. The managing couple did speak ok English, but seemed rather unenthusiastic overall. This changed dramatically when, on out final evening, they got out Loy Krathong lanterns and insisted we all light them together :) Good fun and a nice gesture! All in all a nice hotel worth a visit - but you definitely need a car because it's quite out of the way. (15 min drive from the center)

nice clean hotel, location a bit akward”

Comfortable large well designed rooms, the manager was a great source of information and drove us into town each day. But the hotel needs to print some good quality maps for tuk tuk drivers as the hotel is a bit of a drive from the city center and it was an adventure to get home ever night. A couple of times the dogs and rosters where annoying at night. Good price and very nice rooms and nice pool

Great hotel, superb staff, nice room and good food”

Great stay at this cozy, small but charming hotel. The manager of the hotel is always willing to help, there is a free shuttle service to the city. The food is great and the pool is very nice. You can also ride the hotel's bicicles for free to visit the ruins of ancient temples located just a few metres away of the hotel. The wifi service is also free. Totally recomendable.

Friendly staff”

Excellent! Staff are very nice and helpful. Small boutique hotel with reasonable price. They serve very simple american breakfast. Experienced serious mosquitoes problems when we check-in at the lobby, but luckily there is no mosquitoes in the room as they provide sliding net door.

Small and cozy hotel, great to relax”

We stayed here 4 nights. It is outside the city center in a quiet neighborhood. Small pool to refresh. Staff and owner are very nice and try to help at any time! They drove us to the city and airport for free. Breakfast is also really nice - buffet with fruit and coffee plus you can order pancakes or waffels freshly made. This hotel is run with a lot of heart!

Living Local”

De Wiangkumkan hotel is a bit away from old city and night bazaar area of Chiang Mai. No chain or big box stores around here. All around are small shops. It's right across the street from a large temple and lot's of ruins in the area as well as Lanna rice barn. The room, staff and breakfast were fine

really lovely stay”

what a lovely stay ! staff were absolutly lovely , especially the lady who seemed to work only in the mornings. we payed a little extra for our three day stay for breakfast but was really top notch. lots of variety on the menu, buffet served cereals fresh fruit juice homemade bread. a little bit out of town and sometimes hard to find but offered free lifts into town before half eight in the evening. we missed this one nigjt and the owner kindly went out of his way to drive us in at about 10 oclock.. so kind telling us about all the places along the way. beautiful area, swimming pool, lovely rooms. thanks for a tranquil stay ❤

Lovely Hotel in Historic area”

We loved this peaceful area. The hotel is lovely with a pool to relax in on hot summer days. Highly recommend bike riding around the area. Perfect stay!!

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay! The location is a bit out of the way- which was a plus for us after the hectic pace of Bangkok. This place was peaceful and serene and had all the modern comforts while feeling like a more traditional Thai experience. The staff was so helpful and kind. They arranged our transportation and excursions very thoughtfully with no worries or hassles on our part. A huge daily breakfast is provided, too! We look forward to staying there again.
