Stunning place but choose wisely”
We stayed for two nights at the Pavana Chang Mai Resort. I chose the Pavana as it seemed like a beautiful and picturesque location for me to photograph yoga instructors, and the location actually exceeded my expectations. It suited the purpose of our stay perfectly. However, little did we know that it was the staff party / sports day and this meant that dinner service finished two hours earlier and there was quite a lot of noise. I have nothing against staff parties but we didn't have any warning when booking in. I was trying to film sound and video but the party music was noticeable in the audio recordings. The location is quite far from Chiang Mai city and you won't find an über there, though you'll get an Über from the city to the Pavana for about 350baht. Über drivers may be surprised at how far away it is but nobody turned us down. It takes about 30-40 minutes with no traffic. You'll need to order a taxi with at least 2 hours notice to head out of the Pavana and we paid about 800Baht to get to the city area. I'm not sure if the hotel has a city transfer service but we weren't able to use it even if there was because of the staff party. Other than that, the staff were good and they drove us around the resort in the golf buggy during our shoot. Kuhn Fransz' meditation garden, though unfinished, was beautiful and he allowed us to use a portion of it for our photo shoot. The bed was so comfortable, sheets were good. Food was good though expensive.. and you don't have a lot of choice of where to eat because there isn't a lot around but service was fast anyway. I'd recommend this place as long as you know the limitations for transport due to the distance, and also the timing of the staff party which only happens once a year I believe.

An oasis of calm in the heart of the country”
As much as we enjoyed Chiang Mai we wanted a getaway from the noise and traffic of the city and just unwind at a spa resort, and Pavana did not disappoint. One you get off the main highway (107) the drive to Pavana is a splendid change of scenery with rice fields on either side evoking rural village life. Upon entering the Pavana compound we were greeted by Pavana's smiling and gracious front desk staff and quickly shown to our room which overlooked the beautiful pool, which we used every day. We also ate breakfast at the restaurant which was very good and healthy. Also, the bed was very comfortable and the wifi excellent in our room. We wished we could have stayed a few extra days but it was time to move on to our next adventure.

Great Relaxing Place, Great Services.”
I came to this resort mainly for my SAT subject tests. However, the resort surprised me from all the angels. First, the staff are pretty friendly, they are happy to help you all the time. The room service is superb. Free bottled water everyday. Room is spacious and clean, all the staff walked with their bare feet. Bathroom is big and the water is warm enough. Balcony is sweet. I like sitting in the balcony and enjoy the beautiful sunshine. The food is amazing, consider the resort's location, high on the mountain. You can only have your meal at the hotel. The radiance restaurant. The food is gorgeously amazing. Exquisite and pretty healthy. All the seafood and meats are palatable. If you want to try more healthy food, you can taste the raw food. However, the prices are a little big much compare to the downtown Chiang Mai. However, consider its location, it is reasonable. The pool is just in front of our room, just few steps distances. The pool is relatively big, children-friendly and beautiful. I swam here at least once a day. Great Experience. The front desk staff are happy to help you rent cars, or answer all of your questions. Room services lady are friendly, always had her warm smile on her face. Like it so much. Anyway, the spa resort Chiang Mai is a must-have if you want to visit Thailand. It is a little big away from downtown, about 35 mins driving distances. However, you can come here after or before you tasted the feeling of downtown Chiangmai. To detox yourself and enjoy the nature. This resort will give you a memorable and meaningful memory.

A relaxing quality resort”
I wanted a few days at a resort, and a health retreat really interested me. After reading various reports on Trip advisor, I decided to book the Spa Report, Mae Rim, 40 minutes out of Chaing Rai. It was a good decision! Whilst I didn't do a detox or yoga package, I was able to eat fabulist raw or vegetarian food at their Resturant. The also have fish and chicken. The also have some wine ( but didn't indulge)The food was reasonably priced for a resort. I paid for my massages, and facials etc, which are often included in a package. I also joined a yoga session. All 4 in the group where at different standards and the yoga leader catered for us all. She was fabulous. The swimming pool, 11 steps from my room, was fine for doing laps, or lazing around chatting. I did the complimentary village walk on my first evening, and found plenty to occupy my time here. One of the good things about this resort was there were quite a few other solo travellers. They were mainly here to do a detox or fasting program. There were also a group of guests doing the boot camp. Again they were predominately solo travellers or couples. Most of the guests I spoke with were here for one to three weeks. I had a hire car from Chaing Mai, so was able to leave the resort and explore the area. I do recommend this resort, and will likely come back, with a group of friends and rent a villa/house and participate in a program.....

Beautiful Hotel..very scenic setting”
Staff is friendly, attentive and helpful. Of course, level of English is not always perfect, but frankly, I came to the resort to relax, and not to chat to people. I did "Juicing It Retreat" and found everything - accommodation, food (drinks), services and price up to standard. Mae Rim is 45 mins drive from Chiang Mai, and having transfers to/from airport included in the price of the package was a pleasant touch. The resort is in the mountains. One is surrounded by hills, fruit plantations and rice fields. Because it's quite far from the civilization, the sky is not polluted, and one can see stars at night. Resort provides free meditation sessions in the mornings. There are yoga classes (depending on the package they might be included). The Spa has several saunas and steam rooms - which is perfect, because some people prefer to have treatment alone, rather than sharing room with someone else. I had a room with pool view, and it was spacious and cozy. Bed was incredible - soft and big. I slept peacefully every night. I will definitely come back again for relaxing holiday. My favourite place there is meditation center on the top of the hill. Excellent view.

Truly Rejuvenating ”
If you are looking for a healing retreat, come straight to The Spa Resort. My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights and then to another spa resort in Chiang Mai. This is by far the best - fresh mountain air, breathtaking views of nature, healing walks, supportive and friendly staff, great meditation and yoga teachers (we met Khira who was awesome). The pool deluxe room we had was spacious and clean (I am very fussy about bathrooms- it is faultlessly clean) and right near the pool. Wifi was flawless at rooms, restaurant and lobby. One tip: if you are planning on the detox option (we did 3.5 days, first time), ensure that you stay for at least 2 days after. So you can taste the food and taper off properly. Menu is incredible - wide range of delicious raw food, smoothies, juices, organic and local dishes, at very reasonable prices. We are virgin raw foodists and this is a great introduction. Best parts - sunrise padi field, chatting with fellow detox guests, food. Christmas time is very cold (12-14 deg cel by night) so come at a warmer month. We are rejuvenated and will return.

Quite, Healthy and Nice”
This is my 2nd stay in the Spa Resort Chiang Mai and I'll defintely come back. The first time I visited here was to join a fasting program with a lady friends. The fasting program was challenging but I have to say, the hotel itself really impressed me from the first day. It's really nice and healthy to stay in a quiet, green environment, at the same time, the food from Radiant Restaurant is healthy and light. The 2nd time is to have a short new year vacation with my husband and little girl. Compared with lots of new year activities happening in downtown Chiang Mai, I prefer to stay quiet in this hotel. I'll definitely come back, either in later 2013 or the next year. The resort has become a place to recharge my energy in some way. And my husband likes it too.

Fantastic affordable detox experience”
I really enjoyed my stay at the Spa Resort Chiang Mai. If you bear in mind this is a 4-star hotel, then everything was superb. I did a long weekend there and wish I can stay longer. I wanted to a short getaway for a detox cleanse and some yoga, and this is the perfect place. There was a schedule but it's up to you to follow - I like the fact it wasn't military strict. The colema was DIY though which was a little daunting at first but I am glad I learnt the setup and in the end, it was the sort of thing I am glad I did in the comfort of my own room. The pool area was small but never crowded. Even though I did a juice cleanse, I had the opportunity to have some raw foods before I left and also saw what others ate, and it was very good. Staff were super nice and if it wasn't because I didn't have any baht on me, I would have tipped them well. Spa was also very good, it's not super cheap but it's still affordable. Other hotel guests were all very friendly too and I met a few nice people so great for a solo traveller.

Rural holiday ”
We stayed in the 4 bed luxury villa during our time in Pavana. It was beautiful, luxurious and huge. The staff were wonderful and attentive, they made the stay extra special. The only downside is that it's freaky far from the closest village and there is only one restaurant in the resort. So you are sorry if stuck having to eat the food in the resort. The restaurant good has been watered down for foreigners, it's not a big menu and its not great. Transport is limited to using their drivers or arranging your own. So getting in and out if the resort can be an expensive affair. All in all... It's a wonderful place for a peaceful retreat if you don't plan on going out or seeing much else.

Beautiful spa outside of Chiang Mai!”
I stayed at the resort for a meditation & yoga retreat. The setting was perfect, peaceful, quiet, relaxed. The food at the Radiance Restaurant was beautifully prepared and presented. The staff was helpful, gracious and efficient. I especially enjoyed the spa treatments, facials and massage. The resort is outside of Chiang Mai which encouraged a deeply relaxing experience. It is a wonderful place for a retreat from the busy city.

Excellent Stay and Staff”
At first I was hesitant on booking here because of the “average” reviews, but I was impressed. I live in Bangkok and stayed at this hotel for 2 nights to get out of the city and participate in the Yoga/Meditation classes. Everything was great- food, staff, service and location. My only advice is for those who want to be in the city of Chiang Mai- this place is about 40 min away, so I wouldn’t recommend it, but for those who want to be out of the city in beautiful mountain/ rice paddies, I highly recommend it.

retreat from hectic chaing mai city”
was here in low season, so very empty, which has its pros and cons. during low season the staff is skeleton and selection in store and restaurant is very limited, and also i suspect that the best massage therapists are on vacation. but, i got a great price online, so that made up for these things. if you want to detox, have peace and quiet, focus on your health, learn about alt healing, this is a good place. and if you want to pay for more intensive treatments, it is not far from tao gardens, which is much more costly but, i hear, well worth it for people serious about massage, colonics etc. but this resort is still a work in progess, so do be in a frame of mind where you are not sweating small inevitable inconveniences - my phone didn't work, internet was sporadic due to lightening hitting a wifi panel i understand - but although i, like many people, depend on communications for work etc, it was good for me to just smile and breathe and roll with it and try to be more @thai@ or even buddhist about it. for a break from healthy-ness - it's nice to be so close to the elephant camp and snake show and all the other kitchy but fun things to do - suspend cinicsm and enjoy.

Great place to relax”
The hotel is located at the end of the road across from some rice paddies. The pace is relaxed and the natural environment is invited in to the well kept grounds. This Resort focus on Wellness and Health. The staff was very friendly and helpfull, the facilities is orientated to wellness and health (organic whole raw foods / colemas etc) The service was great, with the exception of the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and the raw foods menu is excellent. Service though was really slow! The room was o.k (but they can be better for the price you pay) and was cleaned daily. WIFI is free and it's everywhere. The yoga sala had the most beautiful view The Steam room worked but it was't as hot as it should be. The massages were relatively expensive but most of these ladies really knew what they were doing.

Changed owners - bits improved, bits got worse”
This is my second time at the resort. Previously it was The Spa Resort at Chiangmai. I generally really like this place because of its health focus - I come here for a short detox. They have an organic farm too. I also find the guy who runs the meditation and some wellness classes to be great. It was a pleasure discussing with him. Rooms are clean and bed is comfy. The bathrooms are designed to assist with colema, so it doesn't look too fancy. Restaurant food is good... but now, they have a cheesy photo menu with both the normal and healthy selections. They have the old healthy menu for "fasters" though, so ask for that instead if you don't want to be tempted. Reception and reservation staff was not up to par - I have to reiterate my requests a number of times, but restaurant and wellness staff are much more switched on. I think the pool area is well kept and generally quite peaceful. I appreciate they are trying to expand to a wider audience; however, I worry a little that some of the fellow guests might disturb the serenity of the place.

Healthy spar hotel”
The hotel quite big area with good facilities and quiet place good for relax. The problem of this hotel is location quite far from main road to Chiang Mai if we go to Chiang Mai during day time is ok, but it seem terrible during night time to go back hotel because it quite darkness without any street lighting and get easy to miss the way route to hotel at night time. I would recommend to go back hotel at early before night time is better.

Quite, Relazing, Great Place”
i was there doing a 3.5 day cleanse so i didn't eat much at the restaurant, but it friends said it was good and every evening the dinning room was full, some people driving from other resorts just to eat. the location is about a 30 min scooter ride from town. the condition of the resort grounds, pool, rooms was very good and clean. i stayed in a pool view room which was basic, but nice and big, also with a big bathroom. the resort includes spa facility, tennis court, fitness trail. you can walk up the hill from the resort to to platforms that are used for yoga/meditation and offer great views of the area. it was really nice to be in the middle of nature covered in blue skies.
