Service and Location Set Vanilla Place Apart”
We found Vanilla Place to be a great stay during our 8 nights in Chiangmai. Our biggest praise is most definitely for the incredible service they offer. Upon check-in, we were given a map of the city with the points of interest already highlighted. This proved helpful throughout our time there, and the staff was always ready to help with additional recommendations for fun and food. They were also very helpful in arranging transportation. When we wanted to rent a motorbike, they called and arranged to have it delivered to Vanilla Place for us. Location is great as well. It is a short walk from the night market that starts every night around 6. Along the way is Lemongrass, one of the top Thai food restaurants in Chiangmai. Very, very good. Also, SK Exchange is just a couple doors down if you need to exchange currency during your time there. Walking to the Moat--city center--is probably 20-30 minutes or so. Catching a taxi out front is easy too though (and the VP staff can do the talking for you). We felt like we got a very good value for our money. Now, I will say that the rooms--while cleaned daily--are quite simple. Bed, TV, mini-fridge, sit-down toilet, AC, hot water for shower. So, if you're looking for luxury, this isn't the place for you. Breakfast is simple with fruits, a few cereals, breads, coffee, and tea. Some of the rooms do not have windows (ours did for an extra 200 Baht per night). No elevator is available, so be aware you will have to climb stairs to at least the third floor for your room (they took our luggage up for us). Overall, we were incredibly pleased with our stay at Vanilla Place and will definitely book here again when coming to Chiangmai.

Best Stay Ever ”
Our stay at Vanilla Place was comfortable and happy because the staff there were really friendly and and were really helpful to fulfill almost our every needs. The bed and rooms were really cozy and they were clean. The location was close to night markets but not too close that would cause disruption to our sleep at night. If there was another opportunity to visit Chiang Mai again, I would definitely stay at Vanilla Place again.

Fun Little Place!”
This is my second time at Vanilla Place- the staff there is more than helpful and will go above and beyond to help you. The facility itself is not the greatest if you're into fancy, updated veneer, but if you don't care about that- then this is a great value. With only a 5 minute walk to the night bazaar, and a great location to little coffee shops, VP will continue to be my go-to stop in Chiang Mai.

Like staying at Grandma's house”
We enjoy staying at hotels just a little off the beaten path when visiting destination areas such as Chiang Mai. For just a few more minutes walking, you get a more authentic experience. Vanilla Place is about a 5 minute walk from the Night Market area, 20 min from the old town area and 10 min from Chinatown. If you would rather ride, the location is busy enough so that there are always tuk tuks and taxis available. As other reviews have mentioned, the owners are very helpful in recommending good restaurants, arranging excursions and even getting you a better price on a taxi.

A Home Away from Home”
Bee, Noh and the entire staff were so helpful and hospitable. Both were generous with helpful information about the city and the transport around town. It was a very relaxed and comfortable experience to spend a week at the Vanilla Place. And the location is great.... close to many restaurants, the night market and massage. The room itself was small but adequate for a solo traveler. With an excellent air conditioner and a ceiling fan, the room cooled down very quickly upon arrival. The bed was large and comfortable. But, my only problem was with the bed pillows- they were too thick and firm and not very comfortable for me. But, I'm sure others would find them to be ok. I recommend the Vanilla Place to anyone who wants to stay in a personal and comfortable guest house that has a staff who are kind, pleasant and helpful.

Very good”
Vanilla Place was a good value for the price (appx THB 500 per night). The room was clean upon arrival, though no daily room service... if you're planning on staying for any length of time it could get pretty ripe in there...In some ways a typical guest house/hostel environment: free continental breakfast in the mornings; the other guests were more 'travelers' and less 'tourists'; there are areas to gather and talk to others, etc., all of which we appreciated...The staff is very friendly and as helpful as possible, although language issues are a hindrance (no Thai is spoken, and limited English - Chinese is the common language of the staff)...As far as location, it pretty much depends on what your plans are while in Chiang Mai: Vanilla Place is located halfway between the RR station and Tapae Gate...If your idea is to have a walking tour of the temples in the Old City, VP may be a bit too far away, although it's located on a busy street that is serviced by all the songteows, so you're never more than THB 30 away from anything...Within waling distance of VP? The Night Market certainly (2-3 blocks away), and any number of restaurants and cafes. The rooms were very quiet (not having a tv might be partly responsible), and even if our room didn't resemble the photos online, we had a pleasant stay here.

Cozy, comfortable, excellent service”
Although a little expensive for a solo, budget traveler, I think vanilla place is an excellent value for couples or friends who want more privacy and a quieter environment. Rooms were a nice size with TV, good air conditioning, and private bathrooms. Building is well maintained and clean. The staff replaces your complimentary water daily and cleans your room daily. Bee, the hotel owner is an absolute gem. Even though I was traveling alone, I never felt lonely because she was so attentive and friendly. Upon your arrival she'll even sit you down to give you a little intro to the city and answer all your questions. I felt like I had my own little tour guide the whole time I was there. I would highly recommend Vanilla Place to anyone looking for clean, quiet accommodation that's walking distance to all the old city.

A little gem”
Brilliant. Our choice of staying at the vanilla place totally enhanced our stay in Chaing Mai. Bee was amazing, even giving us some insect repellent for use on our visit to the elephant sanctuary. The whole ethos of Vanilla place revolves around making visitors feel special and nothing being too much trouble. The staff totally made our stay. We could not feel more welcome and this is followed through by guest themselves who are equally friendly and helpful. Thank you to all at the Vanilla Place x

Excellent budget choice for Chiang Mai”
Great place to stay in Chiang Mai for travellers seeking budget accommodation. The management is super friendly and helpful in all matters, and do their best to accommodate the needs of their guests. Convenient location near the Ping river, within walking distance of restaurants and the night bazaar if that's your thing. Rooms are simply furnished, but clean and comfortable. Highly recommended, would stay again.

Our stay at Vanilla Place”
We've thoroughly enjoyed our stay here & we even added an extra night whilst we were here because Chiang Mai is incredible. Vanilla Place is located about a 10 minute walk from the Old City so everything is easily accessible & all the tour operators knew where to pick us up. The staff have been lovely, giving us tips on places to go & being kind enough to let us leave our backpacks whilst we were away on a village homestay. And Happy the dog is just so cute!

Excellen value”
This guest house was in a great location within the Night Bazaar area but not too far to walk to many other parts of Chiang Mai. The staff were great - very accomodating. They would arrange tours, transport etc. Breakfast was a simple continental but great to be included for the price. The facilities were basic - bed, bathroom, hot shower etc. Perfect for me, as my goal isn't to go away and hang out in my room.

Warmth of Home!”
Vanilla Place Guesthouse is a charming place to stay and in a fantastic location!!! The best part of my stay was the wonderful owner, Bee! She is a fantastic woman who truly cares for your wellbeing. Her recommendations for tours was always organized with extreme efficiency and timeliness. I cannot say enough good things about her- truly! And then her "right hand gal", Nok, was always there with a war smile and greeting! Of course I couldn't have done without the help of Song to carry my heavy bags! I stayed here for over a month and I truly always consider this house a home, and these beautiful people my family! Stay here and feel welcomed and cared for!!! NAMASTE'

Lovely stay at Vanilla Place”
Recently spent 8 nights in Chiangmai and vanilla place was where we chose to stay ,following a recommendation from our son who had stayed there 2 years previously, from our arrival we were made so welcome and couldn't fault the new manager bee , Nok and her team for their kind hospitality , their knowledge of the local area was second to none ! We think they went over and above to make our stay most pleasant and comfortable , the price of the rooms reflect the comfort and amenities provided but as we were wanting to do trips and explore the area they were more than adequate for our needs ! Well done and thank you so much to all the team ! ! Lovely stay in Chang Mai ! : )

Excellent”
We have stayed at Vanilla Place twice since moving to Chiang Mai in 2017. They are a great option for a night in the city as we live about 30km from town. The staff is welcoming and breakfast is basic, but a nice touch!

It was an amazing, impressive experience”
It was a great and impressive experience. The owner Bee and the lady Pat Is extremely helpful, friendly, professional. The owner Bee is very vey nice, she took out a map and highlighted places to eat and visit, called red car for us, gave us first day free breakfast, even she was planning to cook something for us at PM10:30 when she knew that we want to buy something eat, after she knew that we was just want to buy some fruites, she knocked our door and gave us a dish of fruites, which made me and my friends deeply moved. If I come back to Chiang mai, this is my next hotel choice definitely.I can't think of anything bad about our stay there. Would highly recommend!

Great location, staff and value!”
This is my second stay at the Vanilla Place. You just can't beat the location. It's within walking distance of all the main sites and there are so many restaurants from which to choose. Bee is very accommodating and does her best to make her guests feel at home. Breakfast is just okay (no hot dishes), but for the money, that's to be expected. And TVs are old, so I can't connect my laptop to them to watch Internet shows on the big screen. But in the big picture, these are minor complaints. I enthusiastically recommend this hotel!

We loved it here! ”
Mrs. Kim was extremely helpful and even gave us a map when we checked in with food recommendations, and her favorite/popular attractions. We checked in a couple hours early and she had a room for us within 10 minutes. She speaks wonderful English and an all around wonderful lady! Meow, another woman who works there, was fantastic and helped us map out our adventure day so we could do our own tour (and not have to pay for one). We enjoyed everything about the Vanilla Place, (especially Happy the dog ;) ).

Good location and very helpful staff”
We stayed for one night at Vanilla place and were very happy with our choice. We had a standard room, which was fairly basic (no fridge, kettle) but was comfortable and more than suitable for a short stay. It's location is very good, being about 10 minutes walk from the Night Bazaar. The best thing about the stay was definitely the staff. They were very helpful and service minded. A good example of this is when I asked if I could buy one of the books that they had in the breakfast area. They were insistent that I could have it for free and were very reluctant to take the small amount I insisted on giving. We would come again.

Nice little guesthouse near Night Bazaar”
The staff at the Vanilla Place are most helpful and welcoming. Bee, in the office, goes out of her way to be most helpful. The room is of a good size with good air conditioning and fridge. The shower and toilet facilities are good. The cable TV is acceptable. Breakfast is OK consisting of Toast, pastries, fruit, Coffee, tea and other drinks. It is a good basic breakfast; there are no cooked foods such as eggs. All in all it was a pleasant stay.
