Mixed feelings”

Overall a very nice clean en beautiful resort. Staff around the pool were friendly. Everything you can think off, Centara has it. 2 pools, kids club, activities for kids and adults, restaurant, bar, cinema night, bbq night, a russian menu(!) etc etc. But, it’s just not our style. It feels like a all inclusive resort, including the guests that preffer that. It’s a style you like or you don’t. I don’t. But did have a very nice stay Anyway. The beach is clean, nice restaurants on the beach next door and on the main road. Cabana deluxe was clean and in thaistyle, but sharing the front porch, no privacy. We tried to arrange another cabana and frontdesk staff turned out not to be so Thai friendly as usual. They gave us twin beds. we wanted double as we were with our 4yo daughter. Any changes/upgrades needed to be paid for accordingly. but the day after big promotion prices were offered on their website. It just felt wrong. But like I said, we had good time in a Well arranged resort.

Perfect location, clean and friendly”

We stayed for a week at Centara and had a fantastic time. Room was great, very clean and comfortable. It was the only time in Thailand that we could sleep without air con and only used the fan as the ceiling is very high. Staff was extremely friendly, breakfast was superb. We didnt try the restaurant as we always went for dinner on the main street as there are plenty of choices and all of them cheaper than within the resort or beach area. The facilities are great as well and we absolutely loved the garden. The beach is quiet, clean and perfect for relaxing. The tide is mostly low an you'll need to walk pretty far into the water to get deep but its great for children to play. The guests are a mix of German, Scandinavian and Russian but all rather quiet and family oriented, so there was a calm atmosphere. We can absolutely recommend this resort and would be happy to come back.

Wonderful stay in green season”

It's best if you have car to travel around koh Chang otherwise taxi is available. We have been there 5 days during the rainy season but it never rained but because of strong wind there are some redflag warning for swimming in the ocean. The hotel is nice and spacious but there was lots of bug which I got bitten on many spot but my family are fine though so just a warning to those of sensitive skin. Breakfast is ok but when you stay there for 5 days it gets a bit of boring. Staff is super nice and friendly. Location wise I think the hotel located on a very nice quite beach.

Unfortunately the hotel is a little tired”

Unfortunately the hotel is a little tired One of our group had to change rooms due to water coming through the light socket in the bathroom additionally some of the communal areas are very tired in appearance with rendering Coming away from the ceiling areas and signs of dump patches that generally need a good paint and spruce up . having said all of that The staff were excellent and obviously well trained in their duties and attentive and the facilities on site I would rate at about 80% pricing within the resort is a little high especially on massage or treatments but this is not uncommon the beach is nice and clean and staff clean in this area constantly . A very comprehensive buffet breakfast which I could not fault was also included in our stay .

Great stay!”

Lovely time at the centara for us and family. Staff was fantastic, the private beach and views on the ocean incredibly beautiful. Breakfast was really good , with great options for Asian and international tastes alike. The cabanas were truly lovely to stay in, with great taste, a spacious environment to stay in and all you need in a room. And the splash pool was a delight for kids and adults alike! The gym is also really great. Did not try the spa though. Other than breakfast the rest of the food was ok, though nothing more than that, but would highly recommend the blue lagoon restaurant literally 100 meters along the beach front, whose food is simply sumptuous!

Tranquility and comfort with luxurious additions”

Stayed here for 5 nights early August. Was in one of the wings that surround the waterslide pool (room 1201) and the standard of the room, fittings and finishes was as expected from a 4 star resort. The bathroom was exceptionally luxurious and well appointed and the clear roof over the shower gave it a real tropical feel. Bed was huge and very comfortable (firm as per Thai standard but this suits me) and the balcony was a great place to relax in the evenings. Did not dine at the hotel so can't comment but there are a mutitude of options within walking (or scooter) distance with authentic Thai roadside options right through to finer dining options. Khlong Prao isn't the party village of the island but there are bars within a few minutes taxi or scotter ride away in either direction if you crave a night out and a few drinks. The pools and facilities were excellent and kept in good order and the beach fronting the resort was clean and safe for swimming. Staff were unintrusive but efficient and rooms serviced daily. Overall, a quality 4 star resort in a quiet location on a tranquil island, would recommend and stay again.

Our go to resort in Koh Chang for our annual trip”

Our stay here was 3 nights of bliss. I usually love to go around the island but this facility was so good I couldn't be bothered to go anywhere else and when we did we were eager to get back and enjoy the facilities. Our stay here was made even better by the Swiss intern Thomas who made every effort to accommodate us even when we needed to change our breakfast dates he stepped in when the incompetent Thai staff seemed too challenged to simply think of contacting the F&B manager and told us it couldn't be done, Thomas took over and did it within a couple of minutes and said "We can do everything here that you need" WOW!!! Been living here for 10 years and never heard that from any local. Cyril the F&B manager/Swiss intern was a whirlwind in the restaurant and on our last night at dinner he had the night off and you could see the difference without a foreigner to set the example for the Thai staff things fell apart and it was back to the usual Thai level of service and incom These 2 Swiss guys really made the difference. Thomas and Cyril... The hotel and resort dream team. They have bright futures these 2. The Thais were good at bringing stuff from point A to point B. I've been living here a long time and the level of service from these 2 was shocking since what I'm use to from Thai staff I usually have to deal with "cant's" and blank stares. Thank you Thomas and Cyril for making what would have been a good holiday into a great one.

Old Style Hotel”

We booked the room at „Centara“ because we expected the Centara brand quality. Unfortunately the Centara Koh Chang can´t live up to the Centara standard. What you get is an old style hotel which is starting to run down everywhere you look at. The restaurant staff is pretty nice, but can´t mask the boring and low quality breakfast. The room they gave us was a connecting room, which was pretty noisy. When we asked for an alternative room the front desk staff just offered us a downgrade.

Worth for money”

Everything is so perfect except the beach, it was not that nice on the day we arrived. Probably it's the raining season that make the whole Koh chang not so beautiful. ANYWAY, hotel provides all the activities for family and the staffs are really helpful.and welcome.

Paradise Found”

This was my second time staying at the Centara. They have won me over from the other nearby competing properties. The rooms are very comfortable and have everything you need to for a pleasant stay. The property is right on the beach and has 2 pools to meet all your H20 needs! Breakfast options are plentiful and the dinner menu makes people from other hotels come to eat here. The staff are friendly with superb service levels for all areas. Look forward to returning!

Nice stay, definitely better than other options around”

Centara is a nice hotel in a very beautiful garden, i can say that the this resort is really the nicest place around with a really good atmosphere and cabanas are just so lovely :) ... even though there are areas for improvement - I would recommend better food service in the restaurant - Satay from microwave and cold in moment after they bring it to the table wasn't good, massage for 1 hour on the beach took just 50 minutes and all the time the people were coming and discussing with the ladies who were doing the massage - it's not their fault, they were nice, but there was missing some personal to do reservations - nobody calls the phone number for it and it was ruining totally the meaning of the massage. I would appreciate really the effort for fighting with mosquitos, as i was afraid of it, it wasn't bad at all and with good repellent we survived without bites. Thanks for nice stay and nice attitude of all the personnel.

Could not be happier with our stay”

Anyone who submitted a negative review of this hotel has probably not traveled in Asia or Thailand before. Compared to most places I've stayed this place was awesome. We are a family with two young kids. We could have stayed the whole time and never left the resort. The kids club, the pool, the beach, water slide... It was amazing for the whole family. I was very impressed with the food and the cost of the food. Very reasonable and very good. There are activities all through the day for both kids and adults. We will be going back to this resort again very soon.

Really Nice Sandy Beach and Good breakfast”

We booked this deal last mintues, 2 days before travelling and got a slightly better rate of about 2% at Agoda than price offer by hotel directly. We took the Cavana room but the choice that we selected was sharing the roof with neightbour and not stand alone.. there are some stand alone units but cld be offer at different price... Hotel staff was nice to reallocated us to the unit that is nearer to sea but it was a single bed room so they convert to a double bed for us but this left our bed away 1 feet away from the wall without headboard, so its kind of strange but we accepted thinking it's only one nite. The air in the room does not smell fresh cld be due to aging of the renovation over time. The power points in room was not a good location, so we spend time searching for one to charge our phones, etc. Overall its a good resort that you can relax Tips for people that driving there by GPS.. make sure you only turn in when you can see a very clear sign of the hotel. We turned in following the GPS 100% and ended up driving on a footpath... :-)

Good location tropical resort”

It’s located on Klongpraw beach, that’s easy to find. There were many big trees that we felt like living in the tropical jungle. The resort was clean. The staff were kind and helpful. There was a misunderstanding that they provided a twin room for us but after we request for change, they upgraded our room with a king size bed. The food was in average. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable.

This is the 2nd time to get back to this hotel. It is in the middle of the island at th east coast, very good of location. The foods are well cooked same quality as Bangkok only half price, I lived almost all of the hotel in Koh chang, this one is definitely the best quality one for sure.

OK stay but won't be back”

We stayed at the Centara for 3 nights and honestly wanted to compare it with the Amari - we won't be back to the Centara as the Amari was much better in swimming pools, breakfast, room service dining, bathroom and bed. The pros though were: less expensive room service, better beach and more activities to do (evening outdoor movie theatre and fitness activities), possibly a better gym too. It was a pleasant stay but will not be back. On our second visit back (3rd night) the same hotel room we stayed in had the same sewage smell. Older hotel but mostly well maintained. Long walk to breakfast if you're staying near the pool at the back.

Lovely resort in extensive gardens and grounds”

Good resort set in extensive landscaped grounds meaning it never felt over crowded. The landscaped gardens in and around the cabanas were well kept and provided welcome shade from the intense sunshine. A good sized room with all the amenities albeit feeling a little weather worn with creaking floor boards and bed and temperamental shower! The location right on the beach front was great with good shallow water making it easy for the kids to play safely. Aside from the breakfast buffet which had a good selection, we did also eat at the beachfront restaurant after lunch and the food was not great and certainly not value for money. Also to get to more of the lively bars and restaurants involves getting ripped of by one the taxis plying it's trade up and down the main road. There are a few bars and restaurants on the main strip if you walk out on to the main road but certainly not the selection found elsewhere. All in all, a great resort in which to relax and unwind in spacious and tropical surroundings away from the commercialism of Koh Chang to be found elsewhere on the Island.

Best resort”

Impressed by this resort. Service is perfect, resort is hige full of plants, gardens and trees very well maintained. There are 2 pools including 1 next to the hotel beach. The rooms are spacious and well designed. The resort is located in an area where you can find shops and restaurants. It is a pitty I only stayed 1 night. I will definetely go back longer.

Great value for money , stunning location ”

Stayed for two nights and it was one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The staff were excellent, professional and very knowledgeable. The rooms were spacious and very well maintained. The property is beautiful and the amenities are superb. The food offered by the hotel is a bit limited and things such as alcoholic beverages are a bit over priced which is perhaps to be expected. The only downside was that we did see a hair in one of the breakfast dishes. But overall I can not recommend this resorts highly enough and we will definitely be back.

Nice hotel, good for family and kids”

Many activities to do, nice hotel and room. Distance walk to the beach from your room. Many mosquitos but you can ask for a repellent. Staff, Khun Joke, is friendly and helpful. Other staff is nice but you have to train your staff in communication and English. We did enjoy our stay and will be back when we travel to Koh Chang
