Lovely hotel for Honeymoon in Phuket”

We went to Phuket in March 2011 for our Honeymoon. To be honest, we never visit Phuket before and it was our first time going to Phuket. We did not know where should we stay but after searching Hotel thru Agoda and read the reviewers comment, we decided to stay in Sugar Palm Grand Hillside Hotel. The main reason was we read good comments about this Hotel. We’ve requested the very highest room floor with pool access and honeymoon decoration inside the room. When we arrived at the Hotel, we got what we’ve requested. Very lovely room, very clean, room with grand pool access and good view from our room (we can see beach and Kata city from our room). We also have room privacy and we were very satisfied with the Hotel Service because they were very helpful especially when helping us on arranging our transportation. The other best thing staying at this Hotel, it’s located at the hill side but very close to the beach probably about 10mins walk and also about 20 mins drive to the port for going to the Phi Phi island. Overall all, this hotel is a very good hotel and for sure we will come back again to this hotel later.

Grand fun on the hillside!”

I recently had the good fortune to spend 8 nights at the Brand New Sugar Palm Grand Hillside in Kata Beach, Phuket. The hotel had only been open a few weeks, and looked amazing! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and courteous. Our room was perfect, with a view across the bay. Being set on a steep hillside, the climb to the upper rooms could be a bit wearying, but there was always a smiling driver of a hotel golf-buggy to drive you up to your level if you so desired! The location of the hotel is perfect too, as you are a short walk from the beach and shopping/dining areas. We certainly enjoyed our stay there and can highly recommend the hotel. The only reservation is that anyone elderly or with knee problems might prefer to stay at the Sugar Palm in Kata village, which does not involve the steps!

Modern hotel in Kata Beach”

We stayed in Sugar Palm Grand Hillside Hotel at Kata beach, which is the perfect beach for us. Cozy restaurants, crystal-clear beach, powdery sand, and a few nightspots. You get the picture. We love Sugar Palm!!! I found this modern hotel in trip advisor. I don't want to stay in a hotel that looks like a Thai temple, so I searched for reasonably priced hotels. What made me book Sugar Palm is because of the pool access room!!! I can imagine my hubby jumping in the pool as soon as he woke up. You see, my hubby is a beach lover. Well, he was not able to do that but he sneak in the pool in the middle of the night. Another thing that made my hubby so happy when we arrived, is the mac-mini installed together with a Samsung TV inside our room. Worth every baht. :)

Hidden gem in the hills of Kata”

My partner & I just spent a relaxing 3 nights at Sugar Palm Grand Hillside. We were a little sceptical before arriving because of the (very cheap) price we paid, but when we got there we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel has a nice modern feel to it and when we saw the size of our room & our bathroom we were more than satisfied. We opened our curtains and saw the cool feature...pool access directly from our balcony! Rooms were cleaned every morning without fail with fresh towels for beach & shower. Kata beach, vast and alot of waves, but beautiful & clean, is only a 5-10minute stroll away. You can even see the beach from the higher up pools in hotel. Reading previous reviews about the steep hillside location we were a bit dubious, but it really isn't that bad (although they could do with just building some steps or a lift from ground floor).

Upscale Hillside Hotel”

I stayed at the Sugar Palm Grand Hillside for almost a week very near Kata Beach, my favorite beach in Phuket. The rooms are modern, nice, big, comfortable and well equiped. I stayed here because of the great low season rate that was available and it was a new Hotel. The night life in Kata is more family oriented/ quite, but you can still find bars ajnd action if you look for it...and remember that Patong is just a 15 minute motorbike ride away. This Hotel has overnight joiner fees that will put a dent in your wallet should you decide to be a butterfly! For Couples it is perfect, for families too, but older patrons not willing to navigate the stairs should find better accomodations. I would stay here again.The largest pool had a cool light feature that would change colors only seen at night.

Perfect place to start your travels”

The Sugar Palm Grand Hillside is one of my favourite hotels I have ever stayed in. The brushed concrete floors feel amazing under your feet, I drank a cocktail in a bubble bath whilst I watched the sunset and the bed was massive and soft, unlike a lot of the beds i've slept on in thailand. The only problem was Phuket, kata beach is definitely the best beach and I'd head to Mama Katas and the Reggae bar at the same end of the beach as the hotel to avoid the tourists. Phuket is highly developed and there is a big tourist trade, it was a little bit of a shock when I landed from Koh Sok National park but never the less it is a great base to go out on your travels from, The similan islands are a must.

my favorite hotel”

This is the 3rd time we stay at Sugar Palm Grand Hillside since they were newly started 4-5 years back then. We love the location as it is very near to the beach which just about 2 minutes walking distance. there are lots of convenient stores nearby as well as varieties of food including international & local thai food around the hotel. we always choose the room with pool access so we could jump into the pool anytime. the staffs are always friendly. cold towel and welcome drinks were served upon arrival. we got the high floor room this time. the poor staff carried 2 of our cargo bags all the way up to our room, with a smile. hotel rooms are always in clean condition. room is spacious with queen size bed and a work desk. the internet speed is so much faster than last time. Sugar Palm grand Hillside definitely a great hotel for couples. we will surely stay here again for our yearly trip to Phuket.

Modern hotel in a great location”

kat beach is 2 beaches south of the popular and very busy patong beach. the beach is cleaner and much more pleasant. sugar palm grand hillside is an easy walk the the beach, restaurants,shops and spas of kata beach. you are not hassled by taxi drivers, shopkeepers etc much at all here. a much more relaxed beach holiday. the hotel is quite new, with spacious rooms, all with balconies, some with pool access, some with lap pools {shared with one room} and some with ocean views. my choice.our room had a spa-bathtub on the balcony. the staff are helpful and friendly. breakfast includes juices, fruit plates, cereals, curries, noodles, rice dishes {including congee} breads, cakes, and person to cook eggs to your liking. i stayed there last year for 9 nights, and this year for 11 nights. i hope to go back next year.

Love the Sugar Palm Grand Hillside but...”

This was my second stay at this hotel and I'm glad I chose to stay there again. The hotel is a short walk up the hill from the beach which I enjoy as it gets my legs a little pumped up. My son, who is ten, loved it as well and called it "cool". He enjoyed the walk up the hill as well and loved the structure of the eleven small swimming pools. The staff was just as friendly as I remember and they accepted both of my requests which were changing rooms and a late checkout. My only gripes this stay were the lowly maintained tiny "fitness center" in which none of the equipment was working and the "out of service" elevator which lasted for four days. In conclusion, the Sugar Palm Grand Hillside is an excellent choice to stay in Kata Beach except for the fitness center and their slow hotel maintenance.

Comfortable as always”

The is the 3rd time staying at Sugar Palm Grand Hillside. Again, very very comfortable and clean as always. Never have a problem with the hotel, the staff are very friendly and sincere. Even though we stayed at a higher floor and have to climb up the slope to our room, it was good exercise from all the food we had! They renovated the rooms, (different from the last time, I preferred the old room, much more rustic) the rooms look really clean now, spacious and comfortable. Will always stay here when I'm in Phuket. Best hotel at such an affordable price.

Excellent”

This was our first trip to Thailand and after searching a lot had to pic Sugar Palm Grand Hillside hotel. Well after we stayed there felt it was the right decision. The hotel is very close to the beautiful Kata beach and the main street has lot of restaurants , money exchange , tourist agents and what not. however, once you are inside the resort it feels like you are in a different world . Very calm and beautiful . The infinity pools are a treat to the eyes and to relax. The room was tidy and clean bathrooms with very good shower. Room service everyday . We cannot complain any thing about this hotel. ( we did not try the hotel food ) .

Modern Luxury”

The Sugar Palm Grand Hillside Hotel is a designer's dream with its contemporary style and clever use of concrete, metal and glass. It has all the modern conveniences of home you could wish for including a rain shower, oversized tub, and flat screen t.v. mounted on the wall. It's bright, clean, truly comfortable and makes you feel like a celebrity living in such high style. The one thing this extraordinary hotel has working against it is the extreme slope of the hillside it resides on. While being driven up to your room in a golf cart is fun when you first arrive, after a while the inconvenience of going up and down can become a hassle.

The best Hotel in Kata Beach, Phuket”

Sugar Palm Grand Hillside is the best hotel in the beach, very friendly service. Clean room, a large, suitable for family holidays or couples. Free wife in all areas of the hotel, swimming pool facilities are very much also complete with sauna. Interior room is very attractive, its location is very close to the beach .. close to the big budha. It's easy to find the restaurant because of its strategic location. It is also very close to the nightlife in Karon beach area. Close to shopping areas. So for the tourists who will vacation in phuket, I recommend staying at the hotel was the best.

One of the best in Phuket. ”

This is my 4th stay at Sugar Palm and they have maintained their standards since the first time my wife and I came to this place. We travel to Phuket regularly and have tried many different hotels but Sugar Palm Grand Hillside will still be our No.1 choice. Why? -Nice place with a nice price. -Rooms are big comparing to other hotels with similar pricing and room types. -Staffs are friendly and always ready to serve with a smile.

This is a quaint hotel in Kata Beach in Phuket. Away from the business of most tourism along the beach. It is a great get-away to just relax at the pool or book a tour for the day. There is easy access to shopping and eating in Kata. When taking a mini bus or taxi from the airport remember to clarify "Sugar Palm Grand Hillside". There is one other Sugar Palm in Kata.

Definitely recommend for young family or couples”

A few qualifications first: 1. My husband and I are quite fussy travellers but on polar opposites; (a) He's one for great value and a real pain when it comes to room service; (b) While I look for front office service, hotel design and facilities (though I'm no snob), proximity to amenities and activities (namely the beach, shopping & supplies) We're not a particularly young couple but we have a young son (barely 3 years). This is my fifth trip to Phuket but my first in Kata. I highly recommend both Kata and Sugar Palm Grand! In fact I would return. The beach itself is of a much better quality, right down to the quality of the sand The hotel is not full-service but they managed to impress even my husband so kudos to their team. The catered breakfast buffet is pretty decent for what its worth. The Orchid Restaurant located across the hotel lobby (its mot part of Sugar Palm's mgmt) will cater to most of your requests (both Western and Thai) throughout the rest of the day til night, but for quality of food and service I recommend The Orchid located at Kata Noi instead. Very good price too (great value). I loved the room, and so did our son - he's fav being the jacuzzi on the balcony & pools. The room already accommodates an extra single bed in the room so I was a little disturbed that they charged us for the bed since toddlers stay and eat for free. Incidentally, the Sugar Palm Spa & Resort is just at the foot of the Hillside. And that slope, it is a bit of a effort but at 40+ and admittedly quite unfit, it really wasn't too much trouble. My other gripe is the button to call the lift - which serves 1st thru 4th levels - need to be changed or serviced. It's using a sensor system and has definitely lost sensitivity. You get many people tapping and tapping and tapping in increasing frustration. All in, we took up a promo on Agoda, a 3 -night stay; extended another 2 nights happily, would recommend and would return. Make of that w

Sugar Palm”

Sugar Palm Grand Hillside was one of our best hotels in Thailand. Hotel is not on the beach, but I would't call this a weakness. It's close to center of Kata Beach nightlife and beach, but yet very quiet. We had a pool access room and it was worth the extra cost. Hotel staff is excellent, very helpful and polite. Hotel has a free WIFI and few computers in the lobby. Only thing that looked a bit strange is that there were no tiles in the bathroom, but the bathroom was pretty spacious with good amenities. Overall a great hotel!

Modern hotel, great pool and friendly service”

We had a really great stay at the Sugar Palm Grand hillside hotel, we didn't want to leave. Very modern/trendy, well priced, luxurious, amazing views, great pools, comfortable bed, big shower, very friendly staff, very clean and well maintained. Will definately stay here next time we return - we have already recommended to alot of our friends. Couldn't rave enough about it... We enjoyed walking up the stairs around the pool to get to our room - good exercise to work off all the food.. :) Otherwise the lifts are good if you're feeling tired.

Everything was simply amazing”

My stay at Sugar Palm Grand Hillside was beyond amazing. The location was great just a few minutes walk to the beach and there's mini marts all around that area. Hotel staffs were really helpful and friendly, last but not least the room were super clean with a comfortable king sized bed. For a hotel like this, its real value for money i would not mind staying for more than a week. It was also a great experience renting a bike to travel and explore Phuket, can't wait to head back for more stays in the future! Thumbs up for this wonderful hotel.

Good value for money”

The hotel is nicely situated away from the main road between Kata and Karon but still very close to everything, 5 mins walk from Kata Beach and about 15 min walk to Kata Noi beach. We were on the 7th floor with a very nice view over the bay of Kata Beach. The interior/room is minimalistic but at the same time very nice in every way. Because of the way the hotel is built, up-hill, in terraces, I wouldn't recommend Sugar Palm Grand Hillside hotel for disabled people or families with children under 3 years of age.
