Wonderful Place!”
I spent five delightful nights at the Baan Chantra Guest Hotel. It is located in an older part of Bangkok frequented by backpackers and families wanting to see the an authentic part of the city. Its close to the Grand Palace and many other attractions. The hotel is the refurbished family home of the wonderful hostess, Kulthida, who received part of her education in Monterey, California. The six or seven rooms in the hotel are elegant, polished wood, and tile places of beauty and tranquility. The balcony is filled with wicker furniture and beautiful plants and greenery. Excellent personally prepared breakfasts complete with the surprisingly insightful and informative newspaper. This place is special by itself... but Kulthida takes it to an even higher level. She is helpful and caring and gracious. You feel like you've visited a special friend. Learning about her family gives you some insight into why she's such a delightful person... she comes from really special parents and good background. I highly recommend this hotel oasis and will visit there again when I return to Bangkok. Best wishes!

a regal Thai home that is better than family”
The Baan Chantra is an oasis of traditional Thai hospitality. You are welcomed as family and attended to as true VIP's. The accommodations are exactly as pictured, but do not do justice to the feeling of home that pervades from your first step in the front door thru your last moment before departure. The owner Kulthida and her staff treat every guest in a way that would honor her Grandmother, the original owner of the house. Further details: The Thai breakfast is delicious and traditional. Kulthida and her staff are a fount of information and guidance about local sights, restaurants, transportation tips. They are very attentive and supportive in arranging transportation and making sure that your stay is stress free. I highly recommend Kulthida and Baan Chantra if you want a chance to touch the local culture and enjoy the best of Thai hospitality.

My favorite place in Bangkok”
This was my first trip to Bangkok. I stayed in three different hotels (located in three different areas). Baan Chantra was my favorite. The location had everything I needed nearly at a good price. The breakfast was the best I had the whole time. And the staff were wonderful. I wish I had stayed at Baan Chantra the whole time. If I return to Bangkok, it will be the only place I stay.

Cute,Quaint,Charming Guesthouse”
Baan Chantra was home away from home. Kuthilda and her staff are caring, hospitable and quite entertaining. They all have hysterical personalities and they immediately make you feel at home. We stayed for 3 nights and the rooms were clean,&7 eleven right across the st, kho san rd 15 min walk, and at night all the yummy food vendors are just a stones throw away. Its located in the old city part of Bangkok, so very convenient for visiting the temples and chinatown and you can take a 10 min cab ride to the BTS, which is really the best way to get around Bangkok. Have the Thai breakfast, the veggies, curry and steamed rice is delish, sounds heavy, but go for it, you wont regret it, its light and tasty. If you want a homey, economical, clean and charming place to stay, this is the spot for you.

Wonderful find. Will be coming back.”
What an amazing little hotel -an old house converted into a comfortable home for visitors: the mementos and pictures on the wall made us feel that we had been graciously put up rather than booked a room. We arrived very late at night and the hotel owner got up to greet us. The reception staff were helpful in giving advice for our visit and arranging taxis. In some ways we feel that we should keep quiet about the Baan Chantra and keep it to ourselves for future visits to Bangkok.

Best stay of our trip!”
We fell in love with Baan Chantra and look forward to staying there again. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Bangkok. They may not have their own pool or spa, but they make up for it with an over the top welcoming atmosphere. The owners welcomed us as though we had been family. I would highly advise anyone staying there to ask for their Thai breakfast, every dish we had was delicious.

Great Staff / Value.”
We had a late check in after a Guesthouse up the road gave our room away and kept our deposit. The staff at the Baan Chantra went above and beyond to accommodate 4 travellers with 1 room 2 x twins and 1 queen and a extra bed. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND BEING SO ACCOMMODATING!

a great place to visit Bangkok”
Baan Chantra is perfectly located: in a calm area but close to Khao San Road and the palace/temples. The staff is particularly helpful and the facilities are very nice. I highly recommend that hotel and will surely come back.

Amazing stay”
What a great time we had at Baan Chantra. From start to finish we loved our stay here. The welcome from the staff was first to none, especially during the busy period when it was the Kings birthday. We were made to feel at home and felt part of the family.

Great host and friendly hotel service , nice breakfast, and great location!”
Hotel staff are helpful and friendly! Feels like staying with a friend. Great location near Kaosan road and major monuments. Our room on the ground floor was quiet. TV had no English channels, in case you don’t speak Thai. Bed is a little hard if you like soft beds, and bed needed new sheets. Breakfast was nice. Overall a great place to stay! Be careful of the location on google maps, there is an entry in the wrong location which confused us the first night. The correct address is 120/1, Samsen Road (between Samsen Soi 6 and Soi 8), Bangkhunprom, Pranakorn, Khaosan, Bangkok, Thailand 120/1, ถนนสามเสน (ระหว่างสามเสนซอย6และซอย8), เขตบางขุนพรหม, พระนคร, ข้าวสาร, กรุงเทพ, ประเทศไทย

Lovely guesthouse in a restored 70 year old house.”
Our single concern is with the traffic noise that was very intrusive in our room. We stayed for three nights however and did become somewhat immune to it. The location and service provided would have us considering a stay at Baan Chantra again.

More than just a lovely hotel”
So glad I booked this place for a relaxing pleasant stay in Bangkok with much more character than a big hotel. I loved the beautiful wooden interiors in the room and the rest of the hotel. It was in a great location, just 10-20 minutes walk from the buzzing Khao San Road area which was great for the evenings. Also on the right side of town for the National Palace and Wat Pho temple as well as Chao Phraya river cruises. I also loved the breakfast and the Thai Fruit option was a great way to try some of the mysterious produce we'd seen being sold on the street. And of course the service was faultless!

Great location but fairly noisy room”
This hotel is a "bed and breakfast" place, with only a few rooms. However, it is very well located (only about 20 min walk from the Grand Palace etc. in Bangkok), and the staff are excellent and welcoming. I received a wonderfully prepared fresh thai breakfast each day, which set me up well for the day. The only downside is that the room we were in (no. 3, I think) was quite noisy, despite the double glazing, as it looked out onto samsen road. Despite that, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an informal place to stay in central Bangkok.

Charming place in a hectic Bangkok”
The staff who run this go the extra mile without any fuss. Free room extension as they had a late check in after us. The breakfast was fresh and delicious with extra oj and tea and coffee. Spacious clean well designed rooms with plenty of power points and the use of an iMac. When checking out the staff member hailed us a meter cab to the airport, nothing is too much trouble an I would definitely recommend if you visiting Bangkok.

Wonderful small guest house in great location,”
My sister and I stayed at Bann Chandra for three nights and were extremely pleased with the accomodations and the friendliness and help of the owner and staff. This refurbished older building on a main street in old Bangkok (near Grand Palace and river) has just 6 rooms and alot of personal touches with a breakfast cooked to order or packed for you if leaving early. We highly recommend it.

Hello, I think you'll find this little Thai gem to be the answer to your travel requirements in Bangkok. Its located in a good location but not too busy. Staff is helpful & accommodating, provide helpful advice even flag down a taxi & give them directions in Thai! This was my 1st trip to Thailand & was a perfect intro to the Country I heard so many different stories about. I heartily recommend it.

Quirky, quaint, fantastic staff”
Stayed here Nov 12. Wife booked it so was sure what to expect. Easy to miss as blends in with all the other properties along the main road. First thing remember this is a guest house and not a hotel. Once you understand the difference then you will enjoy this place. The first room we did reject as it didn't have any natural light. The only room available was their best room and so had to pay a bit more to upgrade, but lets be honest the cost comparable to our pound was very small. The room itself was characterful and even had a small courtyard. It was clean and tidy and comfortable. Breakfast you had to request what you wanted the night before which was fine as you got what you wanted. The location is a bit away from the city centre but near the palace. The owner and staff were brilliant. Couldn't do enough for you. Every time we left the place they would come outside and hail a cab for you and speak to the driver. That way we knew exactly either how much it was going to cost or if it was going on a meter. Would recommend. Enjoy your stay!
