“Old Hotel but Great Location”
It's an old, Japanese business hotel. It was actually clean but you can feel the age of the hotel when you stay there (style of the decor for example). However, I would say that it's actually an okay hotel that I can recommend. For example, the location may not be in Hakata but it's between 2 train/subway stations and there are many popular restaurants nearby. There are also bus stops and convenience stores/grocers nearby as well. The staff did their best to help me, which I really appreciated. I believe there's at least 1 staff member who is fairly fluent in English and they still were able to help me with my concerns. I'm not sure if it was the period when I visited Fukuoka, but for some reason, the prices of the hotels were fairly high, including Benikea Calton. Compared to hotels I've stayed at in Kyoto and Hiroshima, this was actually my most expensive stay for a solo traveler in Japan. But all the hotels were expensive during that period, so I was just happy to have a comparatively affordable hotel while I was staying in Fukuoka. Given the same conditions. I'd gladly stay in Benikea Calton again, especially for its location near my favorite restaurants in Fukuoka.
