Good Hotel with Excellent Location”
The rooms are spacious, amenities are good, large reception lobby, very close to subway stations, forbidden city, Tiananmen square, shopping malls, food street. Only drawback is terrible WiFi which you always have to login again & again and unfriendly reception staff without any supporting attitude.

A Well-Maintained Relic from China's Past”
I was in Beijing when the Capital Hotel opened 30 years ago. It was a different era, one where architectural grandiosity and pride in Chinese culture meant cavernous ceilings, gigantic escalators, long hallways, a Chinese garden and lots of space for gift shops that sell petrified wood and Chinese handicrafts. Thirty years later, China is modern, and while this property is not and seems quite dated, with lots of unused spaces, weird twists and turns in hallways, random fish tanks and dusty counters, it's a remarkable well-maintained hotel, great value for the money, and you can't beat the central location, just near Tiananmen Square and Wangfujing. My mattress was great. It also has a decent pool and has one of the better gyms I've seen at a Chinese hotel. Staff offer pretty much typical Beijing service - hardly anybody smiles and check-in takes twice as long as it does elsewhere. While diplomats may no longer grace the halls, this is a solid hotel for Western and Chinese tourists.

Good”
Dated hotel. good location and wonderful staff. If not for the staff this stay would have been very bad. The rooms were like a 3-star, not very clean and old. The rooms almost always smell of cigarette smokes.

The last thing a hospitality provider should do is to disappoint its customers. ”
The hotel is beautiful, the location and the facilities is 4 stars plus, and would definitely be regarded 5 stars if it was built in recent years. All but one staff were friendly and well trained. One incompetent staff had disgraced the whole team. It was around noon time on the 26th October when we were at the Information desk seeking information for a visit to the universities in Beijing. Not only the lady there was unhelpful, she has failed to answer our request to check out the information from the universities' websites. She was being rude and walked away after providing us false locations and incorrect time of travelings. It was fortunate that a trainee staff present at the time, subsequent to the walking out of the other staff, offered us to use her own phone to search for the information for us. Thanks so much to her that we had gone to the correct place within 30 minutes instead of wasting 2 precious hours of us traveling to the far north as informed by that impolite staff

Capital Hotel Beijing China ”
I stayed at Capital Hotel on my arrival in Beijing for a few days and again on the night before I left after a 30 day vacation in China and a side trip to VietNam. The hotel stay was a pleasant relief upon arrival and the staff was quite couteous and helpful with check in and local information. The rooms were exceptionally well kept and clean. Bottle water was supplied with each room make up. A supply of other drinks was available in each room for a price which was a bit high for the items but there was room in the small refrigerator to place store bought water or soda. The staff at the business center was extremely helpful and made sure that the computers were up and running. The cost was a bit more than some hotels being priced by the minute but the computer service was fast and adequate. On my second stay at the Capital, I had booked my room, in advance, with Agoda, while I was in VietNam and upon arrival and check in it was realized that I had, inadvertently, booked for the correct day but for the following year's date. Staff at the reception counter contacted Agoda and rectified the error so as to cancel the reservation. I was then advised by the staff to go to the business center on their 2nd floor and log onto the computer, free of charge, and book the new reservation on line as it would be less costly. This was accomplished easily and by the time I walked back to the front desk, they had my reservation and room assigned. It was a worrisome check-in that turned into a pleasant experience thanks to the helpful staff. I would strongly recommend the hotel and would stay there again on any other trips to that region of Beijing. Although there are not any tourist attractions in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, it is a short walk to a major shopping area mall as well as Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City sights. There is a subway entrance to the subway system about 5 blocks from the hotel at the end of Tianamen Square.

4 star personal rating when I expected only 3 star”
I am an academic who stays in a lot of what I would call 3 star businessmen's hotels in Asia (meaning hotels for local businessmen, since most Western businessmen are normally staying in 4 to 5 star international class venues). I was pleasantly surprised by the Beijing Capital, since it was a bona fide 4 star hotel (local star ratings are dodgy in Asia, so you take them with a grain of salt). I think with their recent renovations that they have achieved that mythic "international standard" that all Asian hotels aspire to. The facilities are very good, and the chief difference between the Beijing Capital and a legitimate 5 star hotel would be in the staff. They are helpful but not as plentiful or trained to the standard of a Shangri La or Four Seasons. But the price is a third of those hotels, so I would consider it very good value as is. They seemed to have circa 75% Chinese guests, 25% mostly Western European tourists, and a significant local convention business. I would definitely stay there again, although the hotel is positioned more for the tourist trade (close to Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City) than business. Good metro access (Chongwenmin stop is circa 7-10 minutes on foot; take exit A and keep walking away from the Novotel to head in the direction of the Beijing Capital) too, which is important since Beijing traffic is pretty bad.

2 weeks in The Capital Hotel”
upon arriving in Beijing, we were looking forward to our 5 star hotel, although we did have some reservations since the last 5 star hotel we stayed at in Hong Kong was very small (although quite nice). we caught a taxi from the Beijing international airport to the hotel, it costs around $100RMB including a highway tariff of $10RMB and takes around 30-40 mins when we arrived, a bell boy was sent out straight away to help out with luggage, and we were greeted with a very grand and extravagant looking entrance hall. the room itself was quite large, the bed is a bit hard, but since we liked hard mattresses it was ok. the bathroom was very clean and with good amenities such as a bath which is an invaluable asset during Beijing winters. overall our stay at the Capital hotel in beijing was very pleasant, there are only 2 things that i would consider cons, firstly is the lack of (free) wifi, you have to pay around 100rmb per day for internet and you need to use their lan cable to plug into your laptop, second is the ridiculously priced food and drinks at the mini bar and the restaurant. A bottle of water was very expensive, and the breakfast buffet, at 160rmb per person was the most expensive meal we had in Beijing, I would recommend walking 10 mins to the shopping centre next to the New World shopping centre where one can get delicious buns and local delicacies at prices as low as 1rmb

Excellent amenities, location, and service.”
Had absolutely no problems with the Capital's amenities or services. Although I would normally opt for something more modestly priced, I decided to go with the Capital since we were only staying one night and the location is fantastic. The hotel is approximately a 10-15 minute walk away from Tiananmen Square / Forbidden City, and gave us great access to one of Beijing's premier sites without having to navigate the busy city transit system. The staff were plentiful and efficient, making for a speedy check-in / check-out. A woman at the counter next to me was enquiring about tourist sites around the city and the staff serving her were clearly quite knowledgeable about the tourist sites and services and could speak and understand English without any trouble. After a night's rest in a clean and comfortable room, I enjoyed the Capital's western style breakfast buffet. Service for the breakfast began at 6:30 am and I had to pay an additional fee since this was not included in my particular room rate (I believe the price was around 70 RMB, which I found to be not unreasonable, given the quality and selection of the breakfast).

Capital Hotel Beinjing is a great place to stay”
I recently stayed (twice) at the Capital Hotel in Beijing. The location is really good, you can easily walk to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden Palace, and all the Chinese restaurants near the Square. The rooms are big, very clean and everything works. They have several non-smoking floors, which is great, because everyone everywhere else seems to smoke all the time. We found it really easy to get around from here. The subway is close by and buses and taxis go along the street all the time. The hotel staff spoke English and could easily arrange long distance train tickets, as well as tickets for the Acrobat Show, shaolin warrior monks and Beijing Opera. One of the friends I was travelling with left his expensive watch on the over night train we returned from Xian on and the hotel was fantastic and called to see if it had been found. Amazingly it had been handed in by the railway staff and the hotel sent one of their staff with him to reclaim it. That is not the kind of help you get every day. The kids really appreciated the indoor heated pool and the bowling alley in the basement. Unfortunately the hotel food (with the exception of the very over priced Italian restaurant) is pretty ordinary. Nothing you would actually want to eat, it is over priced etc. McDonalds, Pizza Company etc will deliver to your room if the kids want a break from rice and noodles and there is a really good French restaurant within walking distance.

Capital Hotel Bejing”
We really enjoyed our 5 night stay at Capital Hotel. The location is perfect, we are both in our early 60's and we found areas of interest, ie Tianammen Square, Forbidden City, Parks, Hutongs, Walking streets and Temples within easy walking distance. Hotel facilities are excellent but we did find our only dinner at the hotel was of average quality and very expensive. The staff were always efficent, friendly and helpful. I had the unfortunate experience of the foyer situated ATM swallowing my credit card, but the staff acted immediately and contacted the bank and followed it through with the return of my card within 12hrs.
