City Center hotels & places to stay

Great hotel. first time we had stayed at a 5 star hotel and it lived up to our expectations. We were greeted by bellhops as soon as we stepped foot onto their premesis and they took our bags and while we were waiting to check in, were given two ice cold bottles of water. Brilliant! Rooms were large and very comfortable. Gym, bar and restaurant were all great. Be warned however, that as this hotel is quite new and you will struggle to find anyone that speaks english, its best to be prepared and have a map as to where abouts the hotel is. We walked around for 3 hours trying to get directions for it. no taxi drivers would take us there from the centre of the city (may be too close). Once we finally found the hilton though, our terrible start to the day was quickly forgotten.

Me and 3 collegues stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. All of us were happy with the hotel. In the reception the staff are service minded and welcomming. The hotel lives up to its recomnedations as the rooms are clean and modern. The hotel is located in the city center which is good if you want to have a strall around. Shops, restaurants are approximately 10 min walk, unless you use the hotels restaurants. They are a bit expensive compared to what you can find out side the hotel. The hotel is one of three hotels sharing facilities. Sofitel, Grand Mercure and Mercure share Sofitels faciliites. That of course means that there is a bit of walking to do when having breakfast or taking a swin in the pool. That is if your not living in the East wing which holds these facilities. The breakfast was good, not super. The staff are not to attentive. The only thing to mark is that the toilett/bath rooms are small but not so small it gets anoying. The hotel is not optimal if you have to travel by taxi to outer areas of Xian as the city walls early in the day clogs the traffic. It's not a huge problem, but to be noticed. I definitely recomend this hotel as it is well worth the money. I normally have high demands on my hotels when I travel and I find this hotel to live up to a great deal of what I expect.

Back packer combined with low budge hotel. Newly renovated with simple furniture, if you are looking for a cheap and clean place to stay in a good location this is a perfect choice. Rooms close to public toilet and shower could be noise which is the one we have got but no room is available to change at the time, remember to mentioned this to when booking. Rood top bar was great! Downside was bathroom sewer smells bad.

its second time i been book bell tower hotel , hotel its great i have book deluxe room that its size of room its big the bed was clean the hotel service its best and help for anything you want the hotel have business center if like to use internet or if you want print any paper normally if you have your laptop so you can use internet in your room the hotel have barber shop if you want shaving or need to hair cut the hotel have tourist office if you like to visit any place in xian the hotel its near kfx and costa coffee and pizza hut

The hotel is not located along the main road, so will require guests to walk down the smaller road to access it. Overall, we are very satisfied with the hotel because of the exceptional service rendered here. Hotel staff are very courteous and prompt in providing assistance and follow-ups. Users of computers with heavy security features (e.g. company laptops) may have difficulties accessing the free Internet connection at this hotel. I was able to surf for 15 minutes before the system logged me out. When an IT technician was sent to my room, I was told that the connection would work if I disabled all the security features on my PC (e.g. Nortan Anti-Virus, etc), which I was not able to do so on a company laptop. Nonetheless, kudos to the hotel for offering to provide me with free internet access in their Business Centre. It was a very nice gesture. The IT staff was also very friendly - offering advise on places to visit, what to do/eat, and how best to bargain when making purchases in Xi'An. There may be a no tipping policy here as he apologetically declined to accept a tip when he left.

My wife and I had travelled to Xi'an in early May for an extended stay of 8 nights in order to visit the sights in and around this great city, and we considered ourselves very lucky to have chosen this hotel. We found the room to be very cosy and pleasant. It was well equipped with everything that you'd expect of a hotel of this standard, although the Wi-Fi was not that quick but it did prove reliable. My only concern was the bathroom where fittings were loose, and was in need of a general refurbishment, but saying that my wife pronounced the shower as the best that she'd ever had in a hotel anywhere, which means that it was hot & powerful! Breakfast was amazing with a truly huge array of food that was of excellent quality. I found the hotel staff really to be very efficient, amiable and helpful no matter to which department they were attached. Our room was cleaned to perfection each day, the waiting staff in the restaurant gave great service, the Bell Boys at the front door were always ready with a smile and helpful suggestions, and the Receptionists were super efficient in dealing with our requests; our request for a late check-out was deftly handled by the charming Ms. Serena Yang. The hotel is located within the walls of the ancient city and many sights that are worth visiting are within 20 to 25 minutes easy walk. We would definitely stay there again, and I would recommend without hesitation.

This hotel located at the city center which is very convenient. There are many shops around and shopping mall as well. We sign up for some local tour and the pick up and drop off point is just within walking distance. It's very close to the MRT station which allow us to move around easily. The rooms are simple and a bit worn out but cleanliness is acceptable. The only complaint is the front desk staffs wear NO smiley face but sounds rude and unfriendly. They are not well train for the hotel front desk service, not only that they rejected our request to help call for a cab when it's raining, they also shown very confused about the details when asked about their promoted group tour.

I live right outside of Xi'an for work and come into the city every weekend. I've tried a few other hostels but I find myself coming back to Seetang time and time again. It's by far one of the best hostels in Xi'an. It costs a little more than others in the area, but it is worth it. The staff are extremely friendly, the rooms and facilities are clean, and it is in a great location (near two metro stops, popular bus lines, the city wall, and on a quiet, historical side street). If you have any questions or need any assistance, you can ask right downstairs. If staying in the dorms, I would recommend the six-bed over the four-bed, as they have more space to move around. They have lockers in all the rooms for some of your things. The upstairs terrace and cafe area is very comfortable, with inside and outside seating. They have events on holidays and weekly events like English Corner on Fridays, as well as Hot Pot dinners on Saturdays (I think). Definitely recommend.

I travelled with my husband and two friends. From reading the previous reviews, I expected our midnight check in will be a hassle but to our surprise that never happened. The check in took us less than ten minutes.The receptionist at the main counter although speak very limited English but was very helpful and nice. The google translator did a very good job in the conversation. We just type our question, the receptionist will type it in Chinese and we got the translation and the directions needed. Talking about location....you can't ask for more. There's lots of shops and malls around the area. I bet you don't even have enough time to explore them all. From the hotel, you just need to turn left to get to the muslim quarter ( 2 min to get to the place but hours to explore the area), you can even find HALAL fastfood within minutes. The Great Mosque is also in the area. If you want to get to the Bell Tower, Drum Tower and Xian City Wall (the south gate), as you come out from the hotel, turn right to the main road. Then right again. You just need to walk around 10 min to get to the Place. The city wall is past the Bell Tower.You just need to take the underground tunnel to cross the busy roads. About the hotel, although it is not a 5 star hotel , the housekeepers change the towel everyday, we were provided with new bedroom slippers everyday.The housekeepers are very polite and friendly too The only setback about the room was the shower is above the toilet bowl. When you take a bath, the whole area will be wet. BUT don't worry it doesn't take very long to see the floor dry back. We will surely come back and Katie Eastman Hotel or in Chinese known as Kaidisiman Hotel will definitely be our choice. Non other.

I had been missed my train so I found this hostel and direct booked. It said only 6 bed dormitory and I thought it was mixed but it's female dorm. Located near Xi'an Drum Tower and Quarter Muslim just walk 10 mins. They provide sandals, toilets are clean, even so staff couldn't speak English fluently but we communicate easily. Just two things minus for me : * The receptionist is in inside after 10 meters corridor so not a bit secure since there were a room after entrance and no one keep watch. (Well at least it's my opinion) 2. I smell cigar inside the living area, because I can't stand with smoke cigar. It's indoor and supposed to be non-smoking area, might. But after all, it was a pleasant to stay in there!

We are backpackers who were given a free upgrade to this hotel due to some booking issues. We checked in maybe half an hour after the booking was made with zero issues. So we were pretty thrilled with how spacious our twin room was and the luxury of having more than one pillow and a fairly comfortable bed. There was a TV, desk, wardrobe and a mini fridge. We had a private bathroom which was okay. The toilet sometimes wouldn't flush and the shower head was very strange. Picture someone pouring a bucket over your head rather than dispersed water pressure. The shower curtain was a bit old and dirty. But there were no major issues. The location I believe is overrated. It's a bit of a walk to the subway and basically no restaurants or coffee nearby. For water and little snacks head to the small store across the road next to the fruit shop, the staff are very lovely (and won't overcharge). If you are asthmatic I would absolutely recommend you not stay in this hotel. Every single hallway has an overwhelming smell of cigarettes. We stayed here are week and upon arriving at our next destination, we discovered that clothes we had not even worn held the smell of cigarette smoke. Neither of us are smokers! The wifi can be very annoying. It doesn't require a password but takes a minute or so to connect. It drops out randomly and makes it difficult to use a VPN. The air conditioning was great and saved us from the Xian heat. Only two of the staff spoke English, but all tried their best to help us with our questions. As female solo travellers some of the other male guests made us uncomfortable and we would actively avoid sharing the elevators with them. But these could have just been the guests at the time. All things considered I don't think I wouldn't stay here again but appreciate the hospitality.

It is a copy of the hotels from the Ibis chain: not expensive ,clean and modern but nothing more. The LAN-connection to your laptop is excellent but there is no wifi. You need to use the provided cable-connection. They have a small restaurant with limited choice and limited opening hours. The location is in a heavy traffic area, close to the trainstation and the local busstation. The area is quite boring as there a quite not reasonable reastaurants in the area. Now the new high speed trains arrive in the new railwaystation Xian North. That is about 10 km north of the city center. There is a excellent subway-link to the centre of Xian (Bell Tower). So if you travel with the high speed trains there is no reason to stay close to the main station, still in use for the slower trains. A better options is the close to the centre area around South Gate : a lively area with lot of restuarants and even a few bars. If you arrive with a regular train the hotel is an option. If you travel with a high speed train, not.

This hotel is centrally located, within walking distance to the metro station. It is facing 2 big shopping malls opposite, Wan Da and Min Sun. There are many eateries downstairs and at the side of the hotel. On the first day, there was a stale smell at the reception lobby. The smell left on the second day. Comfortable king size bed and strong wifi. Only disadvantage is that it is using central aircon and the temperature cannot be adjusted. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

Despite having had friends stay here before and recommend it to me, I was disappointed with my stay. I had a long duration in Xi'an where I had to stay at a hostel - about 11 nights or so. I chose the City Center Hostel as a result of the cost, friend recommendations, and good experiences with their sister hostels (Han Tang). I'm in Xi'an every weekend, so I have had the opportunity to try out quite a few hostels in the area. I wasn't a fan. I stayed in a solo king bedroom, so this may or may not be applicable to the dorms. The low cost was comparable to other single-bed hostel rooms I have stayed, so I was not expecting a fantastic place. It showed. The window in my room did not close all of the way and their solution to fix it was simply getting plastic and tying it shut, leaving gaps of air coming in on the sides. It was the beginning of February, so it was below freezing most of my time there. The A/C "heater" does not heat a room up when cold air is coming in right below it. The carpet was dirty not just from old use but from food leftover from previous guests that did not get cleaned up. The wallpaper on the walls were scuffed, tearing, and drywall crumbling underneath it. Half of the light bulbs in my room didn't work, and outlets were falling out of the sockets. The shower hose kept detaching from the shower head, making the water leak out of the hose rather than coming out of the shower head. The power went out twice during my stay. This is not the fault of the hostel itself (I don't believe). It went out around 4pm and so I went to ask when it would be back on, and they said "in a few minutes." I sat down, a gentleman came up and asked them the same thing in Chinese and they told him it would be back on at 6pm. I don't know why they decided to tell us different things, but two hours is a lot different than a few minutes. They were without power for 16+ hours. The location is quite a distance from any metro stops, and is right near a fish market. Bathro

The hostel is gorgeous. The pictures are not exaggerated. It really looks like that! The rooms are incredibly clean, comfortable and well maintained. The location is great, very close to the scenic South Wall and nestled near a charming artists alley with local wares for sale. The train and bus are a few minutes walk, as is the Bell Tower and South Gate City Walk. The staff is well beyond accommodating and make sure you feel well taken care of. They helped me with directions, recommendations, booking trains online, everything. And it was an absolute pleasure to be able to stay there with such lovely people. I would recommend this place to everyone staying in the city. It’s proximity to transportation and points of interests are ideal to most travelers. Clean, beautiful and a great deal.

The room description on the website said "shower" and as it was a separate room on the top floor I assumed it was in the room but it was a common shower room/ laundry room. I knew it was a hostel so this wasn't a problem for me but my wife was less understanding as I said the room had a shower in it. The room description could be a bit clearer. I wouldn't have booked this establishment if I knew there would not be a shower in the room. The location was great with the open air eating area and the street was perfect with the hairdressing shops and fruit stands. Maybe I should say thank you for not clearly defining the shower situation because we would have missed out on this experience. One just never knows. Thanks.

We stayed at Zergs for four nights and really liked it. We got delayed on a very long bus ride from Chengdu, and missed our first night and they did not charge us. We also got a lovely room with two beds, but asked for "the big bed" we saw in the photos, and they switched us to one. The room was just lovely with a thin mat on a huge cement platform (get the western beds if you like soft beds). The hotel is down the antiques alley (if you are coming from the southern gate it is the second right). Once you walk down this for a bit you need to turn into the beautiful courtyard with all the calligraphy artist booths. Zergs is up on the 3/4th floor. There is an amazing roof deck and you can do laundry for just 10 yuan/kuai. Most nights the hostel is super quiet because the artist stalls all shut down in the evening. My only complaint was the owners live here and the common area is very much their living area, so we had to endure 3 hours of pretty bad bongo drum practice one afternoon when we were feeling under the weather and another night the owners friends came over and they were drunk and loud for a bit. That being said, it was worth the agrivation because the location and room were so cool.

The hotel location is excellent. It is 10 minutes walk away from the Bell Tower, which is the center of the city. We had trouble communicating with the staff in English. We called the front desk to ask them to book a restaurant for us and ended up being transferred to the hotel restaurant and then being told that they don't assist with external bookings (which is probably not true). Fortunately for us, we did know enough Chinese to get by and after this incident we avoided using English with the staff. Having said that we had a great concierge, a young man who did make every effort to help us make the most of our stay in Xian. Amongst other assistance, he managed to organise a driver at 8am on Chinese New Year's day so that we could fit in an extra attraction on our last day before we went to the airport.
