Helsinki hotels & places to stay

If you are travelling for business you will sometimes get used or be satisfied with smaller and more uncomfortable rooms. This time I was choosing Hilton spontaneously because of a nice price offer which was absolutely comparable with the price of many other Helsinki Hotels and was rewarded with an oasis of peace, comfort and hospitality. The Hotel is drectly located next to the airport. The staff was very friendly and helpful, which should be mentioned as well. Now, the room was more an apartment with desk and living room area including a spacey bathroom, very comfortable beds and everything else you wish for. The breakfast buffet offered an enormous selection of juices and Food, very attractive and tasty. I only can give you one absolute recommendation. :-)

The single rooms are small but so well designed, they don't feel cramped. It had everything you could need - comfortable bed, great shower, tea making facilities, well insulated, good climate control. It's perfect for travellers who are out all day and just need a comfortable place to sleep. The staff couldn't be more helpful and welcoming. Breakfast is excellent - fresh, healthy, plentiful and the bar downstairs does drinks and delicious snacks. It's close to trams, trains and shops and the town centre is an easy walk. Best hotel I have stayed in for a long time and great value for money - for Helsinki.

We booked this for my uncle and my review is based on his experience. I've posted a separate review for my wife and I who had a room on a floor below. Room provided was on the top (8th) floor and was right at the end of the corridor, so not only was it quiet but well laid-out, clean and modern. Free wi-fi provided in the room as well as free robe, slippers, hair dryer, ironing board, safe, etc. All the little touches you'd expect from a 5 star hotel. The breakfast was a highlight too, as you get a lot of choice and finding a table was not an issue no matter how busy it was. The hotel's main tick in the "pros" column is the location however. A short walk from all the shops, it's also just across the street from the harbour, and an indoor food hall which is worth a few hours of your time. It's a foody paradise, with a mix of Finnish cuisine and international hard-to-get (in other parts of Finland) foods.

This is a very nice hotel and a very good option for the airport. We had a very early flight, so we didn't want to be far from the airport. They provided a shuttle at 1 am (when we got in) and at 4:30 am the day after to get back to the hotel. We also went into Helsinki and had a very nice day. The hotel hooked us up with a bus that is just a minute behind the hotel. We enjoyed the bus, the city, and the bus back to the hotel.

Strand is just like any other good hotel in Helsinki - they all seem to be pretty much the same. Despite the fact that Strand has the reputation of being one of the very best, it doesn't really stand out of the crowd. Don't take me wrong - Strand is still a very good hotel and I will be happy to stay there again! But not if the price is considerably higher than others'. Having said that, I must commend the staff for being able to allocate us a room already at 8 am although the official check-in time is only 2 pm. Also, the breakfast area is very pleasant, and I really enjoyed having a lazy Saturday morning breakfast there although the breakfast itself was not any different from any other major hotel in Helsinki - maybe even below that. I also enjoyed the sauna and the swimming pool, and the view from the swimming pool balcony is really nice.

I had a horrible time when I first arrived to checked in. I made a reservation through agoda for a private room (double bed) but when I arrived, the staff informed me that I was booked as a dorm. I showed my confirmation but the system had me as a dorm and they were sold out in private room to offer me. I contacted agoda and on a hold for 30 mins, but I could get connected. I was extremely stressed after 9hours of flight. Then the staff and a manager offered me a dorm bed (since I have no place to go) and helped me to cancel the reservation for a refund. it really was nice of them. Now, I am upset for agoda which might have ruined my trip to Helsinki, but cheapstay hotel saved me life. Although I left soon without sleeping nor trying the breakfast, I will definitely revisit when im back in Helsinki by booking from other channel rather than agoda. thanks again for everything and God bless all of you.

I spent two days in this great hotel and I will do the same next time I am in Finland. The hotel is located very close to the airport and not minding the fact I landed very late at night, the hotel sent their shuttle to pick me up. The room was spacious and had everything I ever wanted from wonderful lists of channels on the flat screen TV, a speedy wifi, clean towels, large bed with great pillows, a wonderful breakfast spread and excellent staff. The breakfast was simply awesome and was served from 3:30am till10am; that's the first I had met in my entire life. When I asked for a hot cup of milk for my cereals, the breakfast staff were fast in executing that. All the receptionists I met were fabulous and gave me directions on how to explore the city centre. They were equally hospitable and down to earth. The shuttle drivers were equally kind and well mannered. The hotel is simply one of the best and very cheap too. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone willing to visit Finland.

Pros : location of hotel is excellent Front desk staff was really good and helpful. Cons: pics in the website is misleading. It is actually a very small hotel. Don’t choose the rooms with no windows. This summer was extremely hot, there was no air conditioning in the room and it was like living in a box. The front desk staff was most helpful in getting us a portable air conditioner.

The hotel is in the heart of Helsinki, opposite the Stockmann shopping center and a short walk from the train station. Hence access to all city attractions and easy access to the airport. Near many restaurants, bars and nightclubs. The hotel has a small, but very clean and comfortable rooms. The rooms are well equipped. Very friendly reception desk. Explained to me in detail the schedule of buses and finding places of interest to me in the city. The halls are beautifully decorated. At all in this case - not a high price for this town.

Enroute from Sasebo, Japan via Helsinki Holiday inn to Italy. Spent the afternoon at Holiday Inn Helsinki, from the moment I landed I felt everything was organized Andy in place in Helsinki. The free shuttle bus that stops right outside the terminal, on the bus itself is the name "Free Hotel Bus" that takes about 15 minutes. And though the bus schedule for weekday and Sun/holiday are a bit different but there are no concerns impacting their on-time posted schedule. All in all, the Hotel is close to a shopping center, clean rooms definitely not a standard American size room but more important the staff is friendly and cost effective rooms. The refrigerator is stacked with water and other things. Highly recommend making Holiiday Inn Helsinki Hotel your number one choice whether on vacation or just for a night layover.

The hotel is in a good location, only a few blocks walk from the centre of town. The rooms are modernly furnished with plenty of space for luggage. Our room was on the backside of the hotel and very quiet. The breakfast buffet is excellent with some variation from day-to-day and has a good choice range to please everyone. We also had dinner one night in the hotel and it was very good with efficient service. We would stay here again.

This hostel is hard to miss because it seemed to be the only hostel in the island. Very comfortable, and even if there is no one at the reception, they have systems in place to help you (esp. if you come after hours). There are lockers for your belongings if you want to check out early. Also, there are two areas for eating (the one upstairs seemed to be the place to make food, while the one downstairs had books and some snacks). There was free coffee and tea, as well as some Christmas wine when I stayed. The surrounding area is so beautiful, especially early in the morning. There is a grocery/market nearby and a few restaurants (both regular and upscale) for meals.

Hotel typical clean friendly Scandinavian hotel .Everything you need but no frills. Ten minutes walk to Pasila Railway station for Allegro train to St. petersburg. Trams 7A and 7B ,direct to downtown Helsinki stop right outside the hotel. Restaurant overpriced and strange English menu.the chicken breast on a bed of lettuce came as meatballs on a skewer. Minor complaint.

Stayed in the studio apartment, which is 27 sq.m. Small but very clean and functional and the kitchen is perfectly designed and stocked, so only have to purchase your groceries. Almost all of the utensils are made by IKEA. Basically furnished but new and looked after. Perfect for business in central Helsinki and walking distance to harbour for day cruises along the coast. Many restaurants in walking distance, from take-aways through to fine dining. Stayed July 2015, travelled on business
