Colosseum and Foro Romano hotels & places to stay

Walking distance to the colosseum, nice & clean rooms! Many bars & restaurants nearby, & even a 24hours supermarket. The only problem is try not to reach after 8pm as there will be a surcharge as there won’t be a reception all day there. But very friendly and nice lady who explained on all the things you can do at Rome! Bed is comfortable, aircon is good! WiFi is good as well!

Nice, comfortable and clean room. Sylvia at the reception is very happy and friendly. She will give you all the info you want when planning your excursions. Don't let the entrance of the building fool you, the rooms are excellent! On your way to the city centre (2km more or less, but then you are really in the middle), you walk past a lot of points of interest, like the Colosseum and piazza Venezia. Don't doubt booking here if you are looking for a good place to sleep when in Rome.

Excellent, it is a Guest house and we were made to feel very welcome, the staff Florina and Dowenico were very attentive. The location is fabulous 70 yards from the Colosseum and 300 yards from the Metro. Our room was at the back on the 3rd floor, many stairs, but had a lovely bathroom with a Jacuzzi. Excellent air--conditioning. The continental breakfast was very good, choice of croissants with different fillings, cereals, bread, preserves, cheese, yogurts, fruits, tea, coffee or hot chocolate. We were out early one day to catch the early train to Venice they gave us a packed breakfast. Two excellent restaurants within 2 blocks Luzzi Italian food and Li Rioni best pizza. Best Gelato end of block. Been to Rome 3 times, we would stay here again.

If you look at the Hotel Solis website, the pictures in the gallery look amazing, but that is not true. One of those pictures was actually our room and it was the size of a walk in closet, but it looks big and beautiful in the gallery. The AC was non-functional and it was about 80+ in our room. They did bring us a fan. The balcony was over a little courtyard, however, all the AC machines were on that side of the building, so it was like sitting in a blowing sauna. The room was musty/damp feeling and the beds were like rocks. The only good thing I can say is that the location was amazing, it is about 2 blocks from the Colosseum.

It was absolutely lovely staying here. The woman who owns the bed and breakfast was very kind and helpful. It's just a 15-minute walk to the Colosseum and just a five-minute walk to the bus stop (81) that takes you to all the tourist spots you need to go. Very convenient, cute, authentic stay for Rome. The breakfast was light but feeling and always on time when you request it. The beds were a little stiff but we're just fine after a day's worth of sightseeing. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast.

We chose this place based on location and price. It fit our budget and had good reviews. We were not disappointed. It's within walking distance to many major sights including the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain. One thing we missed was the lounging area on the rooftop. We didn't know until our last night and wish we had found out sooner. It's got a great view of the city and it's very relaxing. I recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

This was my second short stay at the hotel. The breakfast was very good - try the bacon and egg and so was the coffee. The location is about 15-20 min relaxing walk to the colosseum and the area is quiet in a good way. Prob 15-20 eur by taxi to most sightseeing locations. 20 eur to go to the Vatican for example which is up north in Rome versus the hotel which is in the Southern part. The food & beverages staff was very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff we encountered this time was helpful too. I would recommend this hotel for a nice stay in Rome.

Great location, just a few minutes' walk from the Colosseum. Not the greatest street, but we were simply using it as a base so that really wasn't a problem. Very clean, with room service each day. The lady who runs it is lovely. The only downside is the lack of soundproofing, so we had interrupted sleep due to doors being shut loudly etc. I think if our neighbours had been more considerate the lack of soundproofing wouldn't have been such an issue, but listening to them shouting when drunk then vomiting in their loo, as if they were in the same room as us, spoilt it for us unfortunately! Not the owner's fault at all though, obviously.

I would say I have done a lot of research on best places to stay for my Rome 4 day 5 nights (AUG 8-13, 2014) stay and I didn't want a generic hotel or b&b. I am on a budget and wanted somewhere near the Colosseum. Retrome offers a great thematic hotel room and the retro theme is really nice. My brother and I were given the newly renovated floor (Serpenti) and so we got modern flooring, with retro (clean & nice, photogenic) furnishings. For bigger built people, the toilet/shower is tiny for you but fine if you don't mind side stepping in. The room we had is the standard double room for 2, it is spacious for 2 big luggage and you have an area to hang your clothes. This is a fine place to stay, it has a quiet street and easy to locate once you can seek out the ice cream store at the street's corner. It is near the Colosseum so you can see the day/night view. So we were there of the Super Moon night and yes the view is awesome at the Colosseum. Housekeeper Dahud and reception Cristina are both so wonderful. Housekeeping is excellent and our room is always clean. I definitely recommend this to travelers who wants to experience a different sort of stay in the city. :D Charges to be aware of: 1. There is a charge of €2 city tax per pax per day for each tourist/visitor to Rome, payable to hotel/b&b. 2. They have a breakfast but we didn't take it, there is a really nice cafe for breakfast (opens at 8am) nearby and you can have €10 breakfast for 2 persons. 3. Retrome will charge a late night check-in fee if you check in after 12am, offers a pick up at airport for €52 (normal city cab fare from airport to city center is €30, bus to Termini is cheaper €4 by internet or €6 paid on day of commute).

First of all when we arrived we discovered there was no reception or staff around to help us, we weren’t told where to pick up keys or to check it? There was no where? A man approached us (the mail man by the looks of things) and tried to help us, he then went to another building where the owner had given him the keys to give to us (after about half an hour wait). Tried to call the phone number given for the b&b:hotel? No answer. Later on discovered our “room” is a 20 minute walk to nearest metro/public transport. (Not a good location). A few days later got back into our room after a day out and discovered someone had opened windows. These were both closed when we had left and also we were a level above ground and surrounded by other apartments (unlikely for people to be able to break in). When we arrived we thought it had been staff in to check the room and didn’t worry. The next day discovered we had been robbed and money had been taken. No help from staff? No answered phones.

This hotel is in the thick of things, if you are a tourist. The Colosseum and various museums are all within a 15-minute walk. The main train station, Termini, is a short 20-minute walk, and the nearby walking street has plenty of food and entertainment. The main street, Cavour, has lots of wine sellers and smallish food stores. The hotel staff were amazing, the breakfast was good, and the wine/coffee was cheap and excellent. I would highly recommend this to friends and I would stay again.

Location is wonderful right next to Colosseum and Forum Romanum. The room was big but a little old but it just gives it a feeling of living in an authentic roman appartment and not any other hotel. The location is very quiet eventhough the B&B is located on Via Cavour. Breakfast is plenty and served in the room. Staff is very friendly and helpfull. Great value for money. Would definitely stay there again.

The Staff was real nice and the location was perfect. HOWEVER, my partner and I we very disappointed over the lack of service. We stayed here for 4 nights, and not once did we get clean towels nor did we get clean sheets. The BREAKFAST was rather disappointing as well. The breakfast is served at a nearby café, and it is very busy. We did never quite get, what we could have for breakfast. All we got was a quesant and a cup of coffee. We would've loved to give a better review since the staff and the location was great. But the lack of basic hotel treatment and service killed the good review.

We had a wonderful stay here. Just 2mins from colosseum. That is wonderful since we brought our kid along. Few restaurants just along the corner in which u can sip your coffee and enjoy your snacks overlooking the colosseum. The view is stunning. We have booked triple room with colosseum view or they called it as luxury room for 2nights. The room is spacious, modern and sophisticated. I should gave thumbs up for its cleanliness. Great job for that. We have added one more single bed for our little one with minimal cost. The staff, Regella (i hope her name is correct because that is what i heard. sorry if i m wrong😅) was great and very helpful. Gave us a map as to guide us and suggested us wonderful ideas to spend our short trip in Rome. Additionally, we can access the rooftop in which you can view the city of Rome. The view is incredibly beautiful. Thanks to Christopher for helping us out taking our photos😊👍. In overall, great stay in Rome and highly recommended to all😘

To be honest, I had difficulty finding a good hotel in Rome that was reasonably priced and well-located. That is why I was very grateful to Agoda (c/o Booking.com) for suggesting Tre R Colosseo. The hotel is conveniently located in a building right across the Colosseo!!! I couldn't believe it at first until I actually saw it! The property has 3 rooms. The room was well appointed, super clean, very new and very spacious. It had all the amenities of a hotel, and the wifi was superb! It was on the 2nd floor (1st floor in British terms) of the building so I did not have any problems bringing my suitcase up. The owner, Andreas, was very nice and accommodating. He gave me a thorough guide and map of the area where the hotel was located and he was very accessible via phone and email. His dad was also very nice (he responded to my email as well). Andreas also helped me with the airport transfer, which brought me right in front of the hotel (the driver was very nice as well). The hotel has free breakfast of 2 pastries and a cup of coffee, at the ground floor cafe overlooking the Colosseo! And there is also a metro station (Colosseo B station) right across the street to the right of the hotel (facing the Colosseo). Grateful that I found this hotel and would definitely go back.
