Gangbuk hotels & places to stay

During my stay I have come to love the staff and this hotel. To others it might not seem to be considered a 5 star hotel but to me it is is considered much more than a 5 star. Upon my stay, i have gotten to know the staff and how they interact with each customer and go beyond the call of duty. They have not only given the care, attention and most of all the best customer service that exceeds a 5 star hotel. The staff from the manager to the ones behind the scene gives their best to provide the utmost customer service to everyone. They treat you like you are part of their family and make you feel at home. I have stayed at various well known hotels and have not experience such service. Like i say, never judge a book by its cover for you may never know what the book is all about. Many of us judge the outside but for the true experience you must enter to see the true value of this place. Within the walls of this hotel you will see kindness, friendliness, and the utmost service.

The staffs here are very nice especially the male staff in the morning shift. I arrived at the hotel early in the morning of Dec 8th. He was very considerate and kind enough to help me find a room, despite the fact that the check-in time is 3pm. I really appreciate his good services. The location is quite good. It is 40 minutes away from Incheon Airport. The airport limousine bus stop is around the corner but the bus interval takes longer time compare to the crowded district like Hongdae or Myeongdong. The location is even better if you happen to be a K-Pop fan. It takes about 5 minute walk to DMC (MNET, MBC etc. Broadcast studio). The nearest subway station is Digital Media City which is quite far if you take a walk (about 15-20 minutes). The most convenient way to get to downtown like Hongdae is by public bus. The room is clean and comfy. They provide almost everything you need in a hotel room and also free 2 bottles of water!

The location of this hotel and closeness to public transportation makes it very easy to travel to the various parts of Seoul without much fuss. It also has a direct connection to Seoul Station. The hotel itself is great, well-maintained and clean, and we would recommend it for its great value for money. But the best thing about this hotel is its staff, always kind and very helpful and accommodating. We would specifically like to thank Mr. Joseph Shin and his colleagues at reception for helping us with all sorts of questions ranging from the nearest global ATM (actually across the street), how to get baseball tickets, and how to arrange and prepare for a trip to the DMZ apart from the usual (expensive) tours. We stayed at the Best Western Arirang Hill both at the beginning as well as the end of our trip, and would definitely stay here again if we were ever to visit Seoul again.

The best budget-friendly guesthouse to stay in when you're in Seoul. It's so close to subway (sinseol-dong) station. Also, it's located in a safe and quiet neighborhood that's why you can enjoy your trip without worries 😊 Most importantly, Mr. Kang is really helpful towards guest's concerns and needs. You can ask him anything and anytime all throughout your stay. This guesthouse has complete facilities which will make you feel just like home 😊

Strategy location with lot of local restaurant and convinient shops around. The room was big for us (4 pax with 1 extra bed). The owner let us to stay together in 1 room and even give me back the extra money. Breakfast serve with bread, milk and jam, there are 3 flavors of jam, it really makes our day. We booked airport transfer with him at 3am as we have early flight to Jeju. The owner even stay late and make sure we are safely get the transport service. We are really touched with his kindness, and will get back to this stay again!

Hi, I've been to alot of different hotel, hostel and other kinds of stay in Seoul Korea but this place has been the best one ever!! staff are like family, you'll be able to feel real korea! location is awesome! it's in the heart of Seoul and room is clean and neat all the time I highly recommend this place to all kinds of tourists !! specially that the staff all speaks perfect mandarin is a good tip too Love this place

I have travelled many countries worldwide, and can say this guesthouse serves the best personal experience, where the staffs made me and everyone who stays there feel like we are part of their family. It is very conveniently located, and very clean. Drawn by its designer style housing, I quickly chose this guesthouse on Agoda within the first 5min I saw it. Through Unni guesthouse, I made great Unnis buddies whom I will never forget - their kindness and hospitality!!! Thank you Ahmoni, Min Jung and Min Jung's team :)

Stayed for 7 nights. Love this place! Really feels cosy and homely. The manager of the guesthouse and her mother were the nicest hosts! Different breakfast was served every morning. Simple yet so delish! Especially love the porridge ahjuma cooked. And duri the dog is so cute!! Location wise, i found it convenient. Food available near anam. Subway just 3 mins away and airport bus stop about 8 mins walk. Best of all is valued for money.

It was very memorable time for me with I'm Green host and also guest. Interior design is a beautiful and nice view. It's very well connected by bus / metro and you will get to see a non touristy area. There’s even a shuttle bus to the airport outside the station! Breakfast and free tea and coffee is provided and always something nice! (I surprised that served flower tea as a welcome tea with nice pottery). There is a hiking trail a few minutes away where you can walk along the Seoul city wall and see the beautiful spring flower! It was interesting to learn about flower tea and owner wife offers a class on how to make Korean rice cakes! It looked really fun but unfortunately I had other plans. The room was clean and had cute decorations! If I come back to Seoul, I will definitely stay here again!

The owner is very friendly & caring. Always tried to help whenever he can. Very clean & neat place to stay. You can make your breakfast in the morning. Location at Sinseol-dong Exit 11, turn left into Woori Bank, then turn left & just walk along motels then turn left again, you will see the Sunrise Inn Dongdaemun building in orange (signage) & white colour. There is a typical Korean food restaurant that operating 24 hours, at the other side of the building with plenty choices of Korean food, make on the spot. The ahjummas working there very friendly too even though they can't speak in English. Dongdaemun is just minutes subway ride away from this inn.

Host Kitae is a super star hosts! From the get-go, they are responsive, warm and eager to impart their insider knowledge of Seoul. We followed many of their recommendations and were never disappointed! Their home is beautiful, functional and very well-equipped (washer, dryer, ironing board, heating blankets, flashlights, first aid kit, full-length mirror, etc.). We were traveling as a family with grandparents and young children, and there were plenty of living spaces within the home for the children to romp around safely, while adults relaxed. The atmosphere of the home is comfortable and cozy, enhanced by the thoughtful and tasteful touches that the husband-wife team placed throughout the home. Meeting Kitae and his family was a highlight of our time in Seoul.

My mom and I have stayed in Cindy's bnb for three nights, and it is like what I have mentioned-Cindy is great and lovely! Before our journey began, she answered my questions responsively and made me feel that we were important. During our stay, we found out Cindy is not a very talkative person yet she is considerate and detail-oriented enough. This is also a reason why we like her so much! Every morning, she asked about my itinerary and helped me arrange the best routine :) She was so good at mapping and she provided me with super useful information like the locations of bus stops and subways.. With her guidance, everything went perfectly well!! Her recommendation for the spots was so great that my mum and I enjoyed them very much :) One of the best points of the stay was the breakfasts Cindy and her mom provided. It made me feel like I was at home as my mom also prepared great breakfasts. The breakfasts in Cindy's bnb were very tasty and looked good. They made me feel charged each morning. Though Cindy's bnb is on the hill (the road is quite steepy), it was easy to go to tourist spots and required little time as there were buses nearby to go there directly (ps Cindy's direction for the bus stops were so clear) Another point proving Cindy's consideration was that she remembered me wishing to wear hanok and she prepared for me. The third point was that Cindy drove us to take the airport bus in early morning. My mum and I were originally worried about taking the large luggages downhill, yet with Cindy's help we could arrive the bus stop in advance and could successfully arrived airport early. We were very grateful for Cindy's caring attitude!! Once again, we were happy and grateful to meet Cindy! It was an awesome stay!

My partner and I booked with Choi's House fior 7 nights, as it is very near the subway station and only 3 stops away to Dongdaemun district. We enjoyed our stay very much as the room is very clean and feels very home-y. It comes equipped with a washing machine (have to bring own washing powder) and a stove. The room and toilet are considered relatively big as compared to ither guesthouse in Seoul. The people working there are very helpful and friendly. The only problem that we encountered was the internet in our room, it was down for 3 nights but after the technician came twice to fix it and it was up and working again. Overall, Staying at Choi's is well worth every cent.

We were in Seoul for a work conference and had been put up by my employer in the Hilton for a few nights, and we had to move out on our own dime. We were on a tight budget and needed just a basic room so we could venture off into the city and spend our money on food and shopping. We came across O2 on the Agoda website and checked in the same day. The room was small and basic, but had internet, a big television, working air conditioner, and a mini-fridge. The hotel is just steps away from Dongnimmum Station, exit 3. The manager was extremely gracious and helpful- asssisting us with subway routes to our destinations, and even lent us an umbrella on a rainy night. If you are used to luxury hotels, this isn't your place, but for a former backpacking traveller who is uncomfortable in a fancy hotel, O2 was just the place. I slept better there than I did at the Hilton, and the experience was overall pleasant and enjoyable.

A love motel complete with condoms at the bedside and a mirror on the ceiling. Not too bad of a place but Agoda says something about children in the description, don't bring children here. The room was the tiniest I have ever seen, there are no real pictures of a "standard" on Agoda's website so just know that its not much bigger than the full size bed itself. When we asked if we could upgrade to a bigger room and pay the difference we were told there were none available--an obvious lie since they can make more money selling the room by the hour. The room was clean enough except for the smashed, dead bugs and blood on the wall. The walls were thick concrete, which is good for noise, but we were given a room right next to the check-in desk which meant we heard talking, laughing and yelling a lot of the night. Perfect place for a cheap, one night type stay but "splurge" for the bigger rooms for anything longer.

Overall a very nice stay at a unique location within a stone's throw of Seoul Castle walls. The area is eclectic and is great if you're a hiker or runner, like myself. If you are challenged with bags, be aware of the steep (but short) uphill climb. However the owner is hugely generous in helping you with bags, and for me, even came to pick me up at the nearest train station with his wife.

Paul was an awesome host! He was very welcoming and ensured that our stay with them feel like home. I had cups of coffee with Paul and his wife, they were so easy to chat with : ) The house is so beautiful and the bedroom is nice and cosy with access to the rest of the space of the house such as dining room, theatre. He has gone to a great effort to make the place nice for guests. The location is easy to get to from subway station, line No.4.
