old grandeur in new way”

The Goodwood Park Hotel had its share of history, owned by some wealthy Singaporeans, than used as the war-tribunal for the Japanese after the second world war. And now a hotel which combines that “old” in new luxury. I't s difficult to find ok hotels in Singapore in the lower price ends, even the expensive ones do not always live up to their price-tag, but the Goodwood certainly does. A friendly staff (without being stiff), a big hotel with 2 swimming pools (one just at the lobby and a more intimate down in the hotel), some quite expensive restaurants (who aren't really worth the price - paid over 400 euro's for dinner with 4 and expected more from that) you can find much better restaurants in town. Rooms are spacious, nicely furnished and have all the accommodation one wishes. Cleaning staff is more than helpful, breakfast is recommended (with tasty omelets at your wishes, Asian and common breakfast, ....). They have bars and shops and off course the high tea, if you want to take part, make a reservation, every single afternoon I passed by it was packed. It looked tasty but since I wasn't free at tea time I never enjoyed the party. Also nicely located, just off Orchard (not even 5 min. walk) so if you want to be in or out the crowds it's a matter of minutes in short: this hotel has something to live up to, and does that perfect – one minor thing the hotel is old and at some places it shows, scratches at the walls, carpets looking as old as they are, … but the do their best, the power of the humidity and hot temperatures is really intense over here, they eat buildings a live - just look at the Ion Mall, build only a few years ago and already showing signs of decay

Our stay in the Goodwood Park was most enjoyable and a haven from the humid Singapore weather. The hotel has a dated but elegant feel to it. We found the bathroom very dark which meant I was unable to see well enough to do makeup. There was no plug for the hairdryer in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. To our surprise we had access to a smart phone to use during our stay. It gave us access to wifi internet anywhere in Singapore plus tourist info and free phone calls back to Australia......absolutely fantastic! We found the included breakfast more like that of a 3 star hotel. The presentation and choice of the food was uninspiring. The location of the hotel is fantastic as if is just 200 metres from Orchard Road. Our flight out of Singapore did not leave until 11.35pm at night. The hotel gave us a late 2pm checkout and acces to another room later in the day to shower & freshen up. The 2nd room was nicer than the first and I probably whould have felt happier with that one.

It was New Year eve 2009, my husband & I managed to book Goodwood Park Hotel a beautiful luxury heritage hotel located at Orchard road and spent a night there. We love the room decor and the services provided by the receptionist and bell boy was excellent, very helpful and friendly - makes us feels like home. Most shopping malls are just walking distance therefore its very convenient especially to foreigner like us. Overall we enjoyed our stay with Goodwood Park Hotel and will definitely come back to this hotel at our next visit to Singapore.

Lovely hotel with delightful staff”

this is one of the long-established hotels in singapore but has been kept up-to-date in its fittings. rooms are serviced well & supplied very well. for those with small appetites there is an a la carte menu available in the breakfast lounge as an alternative to the buffet. this menu is extensive & very reasonably priced. all the staff in the hotel are friendly and polite. there are two pools & good dining rooms, as well as an excellent high tea offered. location is great, being a couple of minutes from orchard road. despite its size, goodwood park has a relaxed feeling rather than the hustle and bussle in some other hotels experienced in singapore.

Fantastic hotel in a great location”

We recently had a wonderful stay at Goodwood Park Hotel with our toddler. Their service is impeccable from the word go. I contacted them from the UK prior to our arrival to request a cot, and also an inter-connecting room for my parents who would be joining us from Indonesia. They replied within less than 24 hours to confirm they have received the request and to ask for our flight numbers. Check in was quick and smooth, and all the staff in the hotel were very friendly. The room was spacious (even with the cot) and they reserved 2 inter-connecting room for my family and my parents, like we requested. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the bath and shower was great. What really made an impression on all of us were the service - from their front desk staff, to concierge and room service, everyone was friendly and polite. A special mention should be made for their room cleaners, who even arranged our toiletries on top of a towel in the bathroom - it was very much appreciated! I didn't go to the main pool (feeling slightly too self-conscious with a rowdy toddler as the main pool is in view from the cafe and restaurant) but my daughter loved the smaller pool. It feels like a private pool and it has a nice shallow area where she can walk and splash around. I will definitely be coming back to stay here when I come to Singapore again. They have a great location (Far East Plaza and Scotts Square are literally on your doorstep), fantastic rooms, and fabulous service - everything you can ask for in a hotel!

Historical Elegance w/ Superb Staff”

My wife and I stayed in a Parklane Suite at the Goodwood Park Hotel and very much enjoyed the stay from arrival to departure. I arrived in Singapore without Singapore Dollars and found out upon arrival at the hotel that the taxi would only take MasterCard (really?!? even though there were Visa stickers on the taxi window). The hotel staff immediately took care of the taxi and put that amount on my bill. Check-in was a breeze and every interaction with staff members was pleasant and positive! We had two minor maintenance issues which arose and both were immediately taken care of by the staff. The Parklane Suite was perfect for us - a good amount of space so we weren't knocking elbows all the time. An added benefit was the "Handy" smartphone - one less thing to worry about because, in addition to tapping into Goodwood, it allows you to make local and some international calls, has built-in Apps for taxis and shopping, etc. The next time we visit Singapore we will definitely stay there!

Elegant and Tranquil”

All aspects of my stay at Goodwood Park Hotel were exceptional. The staff were accommodating, respectful and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded. The hotel room was recently refurbished. The room was spacious, great storage space, desk and ample USB charging stations. A trip to the gym didn't disappoint. Gym equipment was perfect for the holiday guest. A good range of weights, water, towels but surprisingly headphones were available for guest use. The outlook was lovely too. A delicious breakfast was served in the elegant breakfast room. A spread of continental, American and Asian inspired food. The pastries were delicious. Food was quickly replenished. Staff were efficient and unobtrusive. Coffee and tea were brought to the table. In a month of staying in various hotels across Asia this was the first to bring coffee to the table. It is a small but welcomed treat. The hotel is perfectly positioned for Orchard St. Charming, elegant and perfectly understated luxury.

Heritage Hotel with excellent service”

it was a fabulous stay with goodwood park hotel that offered impeccable service with a heart. it was a lovely gesture for the hotel to offer a complimentary small cake (complete with a greeting card) and room upgrade to commemorate our anniversary together as well. the service at gordon grill was thoughtful and friendly. the food was also delicious and served quickly. the pool at the back of the hotel made for a quiet and relaxing swim as compared to the one beside the cafe. the location was also very convenient with the hotel located just a stone throw away from orchard road. overall, it was a great stay and i would recommend this hotel to anyone on a visit to singapore.

goodwood park hotel has a beautiful room, which was relatively large room than other 5 star singapore hotels. and the props in the room were clean and beautiful as well. (my wife loved those.) so, i think the room condition was good except electronic devices such as tv!!!! (tv was a little bit outdated!) staffs are kind! and the location of hotel was good enough to ride bus and metro even though it is not located in orchard road. ahh!! the honeymoon cake, which the hotel provided, was really delicious and beautiful!

The Goodwood Park Hotel has always been the favourite hotel for my family whenever they came here for a visit. Large rooms and highly accessible, the hotel boasts modern facilities without losing its colonial influence that characterizes the hotel. This time round, we booked the Junior Suite. The 50sqft room featured a living room and a bedroom that was segregated with a sliding door. Picture how the Dutch would design the interior of the living room - a set of sofa with lamp-tables on the side, round marble table accompanied with Victorian-like chairs, a huge cabinet and an ancient-looking fan perched on the ceiling. But the room was nothing short of modernity - flat-screen TV sat in the cabinet with Nespresso Coffee Machine and fridges resided below it. Mirrors and artistic lamps are also used to enhance the feel of modernism of the room. The bedroom was large; the bed was comfortable; and there were two cupboards - one for the gent and one for the lady. The bathroom, however, was tiny as compared to the impressive living-room and bedroom. Since the room was probably designed decades ago, the bathroom only housed a bathtub, making showering a messy business with water dripping out of the tub. We were also greeted with a grinding noise from the bathroom ceiling every morning that lasted for a few minutes. Despite these short-comings, we were still satisfied with the hotel. Service staff was attentive and friendly. Bus stop that brings you to the major malls across the Orchard shopping belt was 7 minutes away. Orchard MRT that brings you to many other exciting places in Singapore was 10 minutes away. And the food was yummylicious as always, although they were pretty pricey. The breakfast spread, however, was disappointing - I wish to see more varieties in their hot-item offerings. The quality of food, nevertheless, was top-notch. Overall, we were once again pleased with the hotel and looking forward to our next stay.

Style and class”

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the goodwood park hotel. this is a beautiful colonial style hotel, only a few minutes on foot from orchard road. the rooms are spacious and luxurious and there is a nice garden with a big swimming pool. you can enjoy a delicious high tea in the lobby. the staff is competent and very friendly. alltogether we spent 7 nights at goodwood park and on the last evening we were presented with a bottle of french wine. that was a nice touch! when we return to singapore we will definetly stay there again.

Wedding Anniversary Staycation”

My wife and I spent two nights at Goodwood Park Hotel to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. Upon arrival, the staff was efficient with our check-in and they were also helpful with our request for a complimentary cake and car parking. The cake was delivered on time and it was surprising delicious! Room was clean, neat and tidy. Pillows could be better as it was too soft for comfort. The hotel is 5 mins away to major shopping malls in orchard road and across the road are two restaurants with Michelin star; Tsuta Ramen and Kam’s roast. There are also many various nice restaurants / cafes within the vicinity. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the night walk down orchard road!

Great location, friendly staff”

We chose Goodwood Park Hotel for our wedding reception (at Min Jiang Restaurant), primarily due to the quality of food and nice al fresco ambience. We booked a number of poolside suite rooms for friends and family, and the rooms were just across the restaurant, which was perfect! Staff were very attentive and accommodating, and overall, provided a high and consistent level of service. Goodwood Park Hotel was a perfect choice for the occasion, also because of its central location and was easy for many of our overseas guests to access. Although being right smack in the city, the hotel is perched on a small hill/slope and hence provided a very nice environment to relax in... you hardly feel that you are in the city! The heritage features of the hotel are beautiful and gives it a unique feel, unlike other sleek city hotels. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! One area to improve cld be the access to wifi (I kept losing connection...).

We had a great stay at the Goodwood Park Hotel with a toddler. Our room got upgraded to a suite, and the location was great. Staff were friendly, and it was very easy to get around in Orchard area by foot. Our only problem was getting a taxi at the hotel, sometimes we Were asked to wait for over 15 mins and then they called one for us. Otherwise we had a great time, and we will definitely go back to the Goodwood Park Hotel in our next visit to Singapore.

Historic and classic side by side”

It was a faultless and joyous experience to stay at the Goodwood Park. It has lovely grounds around the pool, a sense of history and spacious yet lively public areas. Chose the hotel for this reason and it's location just off Orchard Road so it was quiet. The room was excellent, spacious and well appointed with the cleverest work station arrangement I have yet seen. I appreciated the balcony, the chance to enjoy the warm, humid Singapore climate and not freeze in artificial AC behind fixed glass. The pools are spacious and immaculately landscaped, a haven of tranquillity. But it was enjoyable to see the hotel come alive with local wedding functions and a lively lobby bar, well patronised by Singaporeans. Above all the staff were unfailingly courteous, friendly and helpful.

Excellent location, superb service”

We (a family of 4 adults and one toddler) had a fantastic 4 nights' stay at the Goodwood Park. The serene surroundings with lush greenery makes one forget that one is in the centre of a metropolitan city. From the time we entered the hotel, we experienced wonderful service. We asked for 2 rooms with an interconnecting door and having nothing of that sort available, the hotel staff then upgraded us to a 2 bedroom suite, complete with its own living room, kitchenette and dining room. The kitchenette came with all the basic utensils, crockery, cookware etc. The hotel staff were also attentive enough to realize that one of the members of our group had a birthday during one of the days we were resident in the hotel and sent a birthday cake up to the suite. A most unexpected and extremely pleasant surprise. On one of the days as we were stepping out of the hotel, the skies began to darken and instantly the hotel staff offered us umbrellas in the event we required such. All in all the staff's attention to detail and mundane everyday matters was superb and made our stay one of the very best that we have ever had in Singapore (we visit at least once a year but have never stayed at the Goodwood Park). We will certainly be back!!!

Finally, a Singapore hotel with character”

I arrived late at night after flight from Sydney. Reception staff were very efficient and courteous. I was upgrade from a junior suite to a pool suite that had direct access to garden area and pool. The suite was very spaceous and consisted of a large bedroom with a very comfortable king sized bed. Hotel beds in Asia tend to be on the firm side but this suits me fine. The suite had a very well appointed bathroom with a great shower. I agree with Richard Branson that the two most important things in an hotel are a good bed and a good shower. There was a very nice complimentary platter of fresh fruit and a newspaper on each of the three days I stayed. Goodwood park has a great assortment of restaurants and in particular the breakfast offered a good variety of dishes, both Asian and Western. I am returning to Singapore in November and have actually changed my hotel reservation from another hotel back to Goodwood park.

Great first time at this hotel and GREAT first time visit to Singapore”

This was my first visit to Singapore and I'm glad I was fortunate enough to try the Goodwood Park Hotel! A lovely and classy venue in a great location in easy walking distance to two MRT stations. The staff, especially housekeeping, were very friendly and professional and extremely helpful. The Far East Shopping Center right next door has all sorts of possibilities and several restaurants that are quite reasonably priced. All in all this was a memorable first time visit to Singapore, and because of the Goodwood Park, I'm sure it won't be the only one!

An Oasis in Singapore”

We enjoyed our week stay in the Goodwood Park Hotel. It is in a very good location near Orchard Road and has the feel of a resort as much as of a hotel. The style is rather old school but charming. Sitting by the central swimming pool is a relaxing way to spend the time. The staff are friendly and willing to assist. The various restaurants are of a good standard. The high tea in the foyer and overlooking the pool is a highlight. Our family members who were also in Singapore at the time and had a young child also enjoyed being at the hotel. We would certainly stay here again.
