Great location, great rooms, nice breakfast”
We came from Hangzhou just for one night before leaving China. This hotel had very good service right from the start even before checking in. The room was well equipped, no extra useless things. Quiet and nice room with a view to Hengshan Park. Unfortunately we were busy to check out in the morning and did no have enough time to stay and enjoy the nice breakfast. Just some coffee and bread this time. I want to return to Hengshan Picardie hotel some day.

Nice hotel and location in the heart of the old french quarter and close to the subway station. Many restaurants and bars on Hengshan road. Several bar features a live band playing authentic americam blues or singing song on customers request. The Picardie hotel is also close to the Everbright convention center about 16 yuan for the ride.

Classic 5-Star Hotel”
I have been staying in this hotel for 4 times. Each time i travel to Shanghai, this hotel is definitely my choice. The location is great, 5 mins walk to Hengshan Subway Station, 5 mins walk to a very nice park, 5 mins walk to bars and restaurants and also very near to Huaihai Rd (about 5 mins by taxi or 20 mins by walk) where many shops and shopping centers are located. the breakfast in this hotel is a must. they serve varieties of mouth watering food and taste really nice. we stayed 2 nites in this hotel and never miss the breakfast.

i have been to this hotel a couple of times and i really enjoy my stay there. it is well located in the middle of hengshan road, where one can easily find a lot of bars and restaurants! rooms aren't very big but clean and comfortable and warm in winter - very important in shanghai! breakfast is basic but still okay. check in and check out could be improved but it is not a big deal. overall i am very satisfied and will be back soon!

definitely a fantastic hotel with clean rooms and an amazing breakfast. not to mention the location in the middle of shanghais famous hengshan road! i totally enjoyed my stay, fantastic service, from check in to check out. old historical building with a great atmosphere and beautiful surroundings - nearby park! will stay there again next time! almost forgot to mention the room rates, for shanghai in this location totally reasonable!

As I helped them book it, I am writing this review for my parents who stayed at the Hengshan Picardie hotel for business. The hotel is very conveniently located in a very nice neighbourhood. It is easy to get to the subway. There is a nice park across the road and some great restaurant and shopping options nearby. The hotel itself is a historical building with a very long history. They stayed on the executive floor in a renovated room. It was a big room, well decorated. They liked the room except for one point. There was no separate shower only a shower bathtub combination and because of the way it was constructed the water goes everywhere. The breakfast only had a tiny western section (some bread, jam and yoghurt). Some of the staff does not speak English well and the service level is ok.

this is my second stay at this hotel and again i really enjoy my stay there. it is well located in the famous of hengshan road, with lots of bars and restaurants. if you need a new business suit you can also find a few tailors! however rooms aren't very big but they are clean and comfortable and warm in winter which is very important in shanghai! breakfast is basic but still okay. check in and check out could be improved but anyway it is not a big deal. overall i am very satisfied and will be back soon!

The overall experience of staying Hengsha Picardie Hotel is great because its location is convenient and close to most places that tourists want to visit in Shanghai. The price is also reasonable. However, the door lock seems to have some problems and it takes some time to open the door of my room. I really think the hotel should change the lock.

originally intended to book online but time got away. ironically found rates offered over counter higher than immediately available on line. booked on line whilst standing at counter. stayed in a suite so cannot comment on standard rooms. suite was very large and comfortable. house keeping left a bit to be desired- a used knife left on a table, the bathroom floor not mopped. not big issues but things not left unattended to in top hotels. location is handy to metro station (hengshan road station) which provides easy access to shanghai's extensive metro system. large retail stores close by as well as a park across the road. all up a very pleasant hotel experience. haven't stayed in shanghai before so cannot rate against others. food in japanese restaurant was very good- but so is the food generally in shanghai. waiting staff at breakfast a little inattentive at times.

Great Hotel in the most wonderful part of Shanghai. Right across the street from a beautiful park10 min. walk to Metro. Rooms classic and most comfortable. My favourite when in Shanghai. The desk staff speak good English and are very helpful. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with high ceilings. Everything worked well including the air cons, and there is free cable internet in the room (wireless in the lobby). Good buffet breakfast was included with the room. I can highly recommend this hotel for all travellers.

Awesome location! Love the Hengshan area, very very nice and easy to get around places. Very interesting area to explore, lots of restaurants and bars as well as unique shops. Will recommend this place to everyone who love a little more peaceful experience in Shanghai, history, and wouldn't mind the lack of modern amenities and bland breakfast in the hotel.

An hotel with a difference”
I stayed for 5 nights in January and it was snowing and cold in Shanghai but the room and the hotel itself was extremely warm both literally and metaphorically. Staff were helpful, the quality of the room and the facilities of the hotel were excellent and the hotel really had a great atmosphere very different from many of the more modern hotels - partly because of the Art-Deco nature of the building and some of the internal decoration. It's conveniently situated - Metro line 1 is only a few minutes walk up the road and there's a few nice cafes and restaurants close by. Thorughly recommended.

Good Location, good deal”
I have already been to this hotel many times, and I still enjoy my stay there. The biggest advantage of this hotel is definitely the location in Hengshan Road, which is close to nightlife and restaurants. The room standard is all right, sometime good sometimes not so good, but overall no problem. Their staff can sometime be quite challenging if they insist on trying to speak English although one has a hard time to understand what they want. Breakfast buffet is all right for two / three days, if you stay longer it is getting boring. Anyway, I think it is good value.

i always choose this hotel because of the convenient location in the middle of hengshan road. it is not the newest hotel any more but if your choose better room the room standard is all right. best thing and most important thing in winter are the heated rooms. this is very important in shanghai!! breakfast is all right but not very special if you had it before or for a couple of consecutive days. anyway i will stay there again!

Simple hotel with great location”
Although the hotel lacks many luxury features found at other 5 star hotels- the Hengshan is a nice property that is good for a traveler who doesn't plan to spend much time at the hotel. It is great for a nice place to sleep, and then go out and walk about Shanghai all day. The internet is not wifi and can be sluggish at time, so it is not ideal for doing business.

I have stayed in this hotel a couple of times before. Due to its convenient location on Hengshan road it has always been a good choice. The room standard however is not always the same, usually it is quite good, but sometimes the rooms a old and not so nice anymore. Staff performance is all right, but could improve in terms of friendliness - but thats China. Breakfast is all right if you are an early bird. The only flaw is that it is difficult to get a taxi in time, especially if one is in a hurry!

Well, I have stayed in this hotel many times before. Because of the location, the price and the clean rooms I still chose this hotel for my business trips. The room standard it not too bad, big advantage of the rather small rooms it that they are comfortably warm in winter - very important in Shanghai! Breakfast is always almost the same, but again it's all right! Will definitely come back again.
