great hotel and part of the raffles chain. unfortunately china being china its run teh chinese way and not the way a 5 star opulent grand hotel with such a great reputation should be run. staff are poorly trained and instructed, it shows when you walk inside and they start hiding instead of saying hello like all otehr hotel staff do. the experience of staying in such a grand hotel needs to be followed through, but the staff fail it. inside the main entrance security guards stop guests from photographing the interior, its a crazy policy. this place has so much potential but needs an analytical business mind to get it pumping, not a govt communist static mind. the gift store doesnt sell any souvenirs of the historic hotel, cant understand why!! the jazz bar is great and lives up to the reputation. by far the most outstanding member is the assist director of food and bevrages miss. patricia. this lady is trying so much to improve the place howevever appears to be hitting her head against a brick wall with staff who dont perform. the jazz bar waiters though are so professional, best i have seen in years. the place needs a hip vibe rooftop bar to get things going as its got a great view of shanghai, pudonga nd the bund from the rooftop.

Probably one of the best hotel I stayed in Shanghai the most hip and happening among all three Hyatt in the city. Spent my new year eve count down at the Vue bar, very memorable and unforgettable experience, it offer stunning view of Shanghai both Pu dong and Pu xi view, thought the location of the hotel is at Pu xi side. I would recommend all guest to have a drink at the Vue bar to chill out. Being situated at Pu xi, Huang Pu Road the hotel is minutes walk from the Bund and nan jing road where most of the great, shopping, restaurant and bar located at. Very convenient location. As for the facility, Hyatt on the Bund provide better facility than other 5 star hotel in city. warm pool and great gym. I stayed at the club room on the east tower at 27 floor that offer magnificent view, the room is spacious and amenity is nice. I truly enjoy my stay at Hyatt on Bund and will stay here again come May Shanghai Expo.

Positives are: - 1. The staff are super helpful and friendly. I love the housekeeping lady when we first checked in. She greeted us with the friendliest smile and was very kind when she set up the additional bed for us. 2. The staff at the check in was very patient by showing us the rooms before we check in - as there was a bit of problem with our booking - the room that we had booked was probably too small for the family of 4 with 2 teenagers. Negatives: - 1. The booking said it comes with Breakfast. But the hotel staff said it will not provide breakfast. Is this a hotel problem or Agoda problem? 2. I am not sure if this is the problem with Agoda or Hotel. For the room type we had booked, it should have stated the twin bed size 1.2m width so that we get some ideas when we book the room - When it says kids under age 17 can stay for free using same bed, it doesn't mean that the bed will be big enough to fit the kids in the same room. So be careful when you book.

Booked this place in 2 min as I was next in line for the transit immigration officer and wanted to have a place to show. I am glad I did instead of booking the higher end places. The hotel has the best location I could ask for, 2 blocks from MRT in central Bund walking distance to Nanjing Lu and to all nightlife in the neighborhood. Moreover the room was quite comfortable, I was coming from Hong Kong and this felt like a 5 starts compared to those shitty hotels in Central. The staff also was super friendly and even bumped me up in the hotel. This is now my default place to stay at Shanghai and I look forward to the next time.

The river view was the nicest place we stated at in china (admittedly we booked into some budget hotels for the trip) the staff were accommodating and very helpful. We stayed in a river view room which had fabulous views of the financial district across the river ( there is a huge amount of construction going on next to the hotel and I'm not sure if the river view will be left with one after the new building next door is finished. The staff were very helpful and generally had some of the best English skills we experienced in china. Only had breakfast there once, but it was again better than all of the other places we stayed in. Walking distance (2min) from the south bund fabric market, if you want some coats or suits made. And about 20 min walk or a short and cheap(shanghai taxis all use the meter and don't try and bargain) ride to the bund itself. 10-15 min walk to closest subway. Rooms were generous and very clean and well maintained. Would recommended this hotel.

This was my last stop in my 2 week in China. First time to Shanghai. The location was fantastic and easily reached from the Pudong Airport by subway (1hr). The bund is 15 min walk away. There is a giant mall for food and cheap clothing right by the subway station. The service was the best of 5 hotels I stayed in China. The staff were polite with excellent communication. I arrived early and the manager let me check in early even though it was a busy holiday weekend. The room is impeccable and very nicely decorated. From my window, I could see the Pudong skyline and the postal museum. Overall an excellent experience.

This was my second stay in this hotel, I stayed one year before. The location is an important facter in booking this hotel. The ease which you can get from the airport to your hotel room makes this hotel a great choice. We had club floor rooms which were very clean with an excellent bathroom. The toiletries might need to be reviewed against what you find in other hotels, but that was the only negative point. The club lounge is ok and has a great view. The happy hour beverage selection is a little poor and the same can be said of the food. The staff are very helpful and computers are available. Breakfast is good but they need to dispence with the juice bottles, almost impossible to open. All in all very good value for money and the location is really good with the airport metro link a real plus.

The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai has renewed my faith in five star properties. Countless establishments the world over claim to be five star, but very few actually deliver. The WAS is everything one would expect from a top-end property. Pros: - The rooms are absolutely fantastic. They are huge and feature a multitude of modern luxuries. For example, centralized control of room lighting, AC, drapes, and alarms from a room automation console; TV built in to the mirror in the bathroom; web-enabled TV; and IT connections hub with cables included. The furnishings and amenities are all also top notch, as one would expect from Waldorf properties. - Service is excellent. Everyone we encountered in the hotel was very polite and extremely helpful. - Location on the Bund. The location cannot be beat for views, and proximity to tourist attractions such as Ya Yaun. Cons: - Entrance is obscure. The entrance to the hotel is from a small access lane that is not prominently marked. Not one cab driver was able to find the hotel without guidance from me. All-in-all, if you're going to Shanghai and are accustomed to staying five star, then you really need not look any further than the Waldorf Astoria.

This hotel was everything we expected. We booked online in a country we had never visited and were pleased with every aspect of the offerings at this hotel. When booking make sure you ask for non smoking room (if you want one) and definitely ask for a room with a river view - it is stunning. This hotel is not 5 star but does not claim to be. You walk out he door and you are on the Bund and it is a short taxi ride to many other interesting sites. If wifi is important to you then check availability. Some rooms have it, others you need to go downstairs and sit in the lobby to use it. We used the hotel transfer services as a group of 4 and they were very good. If there is only a couple it would be cheaper to use local taxis.

Reason for 5 stars. I hope everyone can read my story otherwise Agoda will take out my review Actual Overall star- 3 stars. Far from metro station, shabby entrance, dishonesty-read my story below. My rating is zero star for customer service when come to honesty, 5 stars if you are VIP clients. First, i can speak mandarin and read well (above moderate). This is what happened, i was told the room upgrade was 100rmb yuan which i remember vividly i did asked again before agreed to the room to be upgraded then the receipt was written 200rmb yuan. I smell something fishy then i asked why the receipt was written 200 rmb yuan. Then they told me it was 200 rmb yuan. So i asked for cancellation and want back my normal room then they counter offer me with 100rmb yuan. After their dishonesty, i sticked to the room i booked. My lesson, please let someone to read if it was written by the chinese. Their dishonesty is well known.

very nice new hotel at the rock bund. nice room finishing and spacious. it is at the end of the bund and easy excess to rock bund, bund, and walking street. peace hotel is around the corner which is cool for their historic interior as well. many nice restaurants, boutiques, and bars within walking distance from bund3-18. rock bund has a nice walk and ram museum.many high end boutiques just right underneath the hotel itself, chanel,prada,armani etc

This hotel is perfectly located right on the riverbank, looking back over The Bund and the Pudong development. We booked a river view room and the room was a decent size with a bathroom with bath. The room was clean and comfortable and serviced daily. The plumbing was slightly dodgy in our first room, but nothing the maintenance man couldn’t fix promptly. We were disappointed to find we had twin beds but it turned out to be a booking error on my part. Without hesitation the staff upgraded us to a room on a higher floor with a king bed for the next two nights at no extra charge. We locked ourselves out of our safe by mistake and staff were there within a minute to sort it out for us. The hotel is very grand, with high ceilings, chandeliers and marble everywhere and the view from the rooms just couldn’t be better. The staff were helpful and efficient and their English was adequate. Nothing was a problem and we were looked after competently and cheerfully. Let me say this is one of the most impressive hotels we’ve stayed in anywhere in the world!

This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in, and for a very cheap price. I have stayed in more expensive 4 star hotels which were not as good as the Elegance Bund Hotel. The rooms are very large and spacious, the bed is very comfortable, bathroom is fantastic, and best of all, everything is extremely clean. The staff are also friendly and helpful, and the location is perfect. Next time I am in Shanghai, I will definitely be staying here again.

A reasonable good place for rest after working and, shopping and dining around the nearby malls. The counter staff seemed unfamiliar with procedures and could have tried harder to attend to customers. I encountered an issue where the staff did not receive the booking confirmation from Agoda. Instead of checking with Agoda directly, the staff asked me to call Agoda to sort out the issue myself. Fortunately, I was able to contact Agoda customer service and link up Agoda and the counter staff to sort out the issue. Otherwise, I would be stranded and lost in an unfamiliar place even though I had a confirmed booking with the hotel. I think the hotel should also review their processes and systems to ensure that such unhappy incidents from reoccurrence. If the staff was unclear of the procedures then adequate training should be provided to equip the staff the skills and knowledge to service customers. The hotel should encourage and train the staff to consider the best interest for the customers and offer solutions or options to the customers when a problem occurred. Should avoid giving customers sense of helplessness.

I didn't set a high expectation when I reserved a room at the budget hotel given its low rate (I stayed in another budget hotel nearby [a different hotel chain] half a year ago with similar rate but the premise, amenity and service were below par). It was a pleasant surprise that the property was very well-maintained, the service was good, and the room was very comfortable. Everything is as good as what I expect a three-star hotel would offer (except that their facilities are of course not up to a 3* hotel standard). I would love to return to this hotel next time.

I booked for river view room as stated in Agoda but the actual is i got a room with partial view of the river. once i ask the receptionist they ask for additional if need fully river view. Agoda need to change the "partial river view deluxe room" as Agoda need to be honest to customer. However the hotel is nearby to The Bunds and Nanjing road. Will consider to stay here again but this hotel need to improve on breakfast variety since no much choice for MUSLIM people.

Before booking the hotel in Shanghai, I had not enough information on this hotel. But I always trust Sheraton name itself, so we tried to experience this hotel at this time. To be honest, it was more than my expectation. Well-equipped accomodation and variety of food in the breakfast buffet. But around of the hotel is still under construction and undeveloped.. so it was hard to find out convenience store, even local makret close down earlier. Without this thing, everything was good.

This was one of the best hotel experience I have had in Shanghai for many years. As business traveller I don't need a vibrant neighborhood for the hotel I stayed, but a nice, comfortable room and easy access to other areas of Shanghai by taxi. Hotel staff are very helpful and with good English speaking skills; both interior and exterior of the hotel is 5-star, especially the bathroom. Shower is very powerful. For the price I paid, great value for money (when a 4-star could charge even more than this hotel if it locates at Nanjing Road). Only downside is it is not on the Bund but already passed the Bund on the north, and if you wanted to be close to the attractions you better take a taxi than walking.

The hotel is in an amazing location! The bathroom has a glass wall which views the city skyline. It is a very hip and artsy hotel. It was like staying in a trendy art gallery. There was a bar on the roof, as well as a nice restaurant (which is a bit pricey). We never had any problems with the service and they even went above and beyond to help us out with our touristy questions. On the first night we got back to the room and the staff had left us free shots of Cognac. It's not a cheap hotel, but it's not overly expensive. I found it to be very affordable and well worth the price. It is a wonderful experience staying in this hotel and I urge you to stay and experience it for yourself.
