Hotels near Madame Tussauds Shanghai

This is definitely one of the best hotels that I have stayed in. Spent a few weeks going through the reviews of Shanghai hotels in Agoda before settling for a suite in SSAW Hotel Shanghai, and it was well worth the effort. Hotel suite was big, cosy, comfortable with great views, especially from the inviting bathtub. In short, this is a hotel with exceptional value for the guests in mind. What really made this a great hotel is its people. We were faced with a malfunctioning lift system on our day of departure. Our Level 11 room attendant immediately contacted the technician for assistance. As the technician was not able to rectify the problem immediately, the room attendant suggested an alternative service lift for our use. That's when we met with Niels and Linda. They were on their way to every level to 'rescue' their guests. Even though the whole episode probably took up 15 to 30 minutes of our time, it was really our privilege to witness the behind-the-scene work of these wonderful hotel staff. So do you think I will still stay in this hotel again? Definitely and it will be my only choice unless the hotel runs out of rooms! Our sincere thanks to all hotel staff for your excellent services and do continue to maintain it. Plus take good care of yourselves and your guests during this period when the H7N9 disease is lurking in Shanghai.

Booked 4 double bed rooms through Agoda website after reading the reviews. The hotel lobby is beautiful & awesome, bellboy were alert and helpful,front desk reception were swift and professional in the check in procedure and abide to our request for same level for all the rooms; the magic touch were the smile on their face all the time. The location of this hotel is just a traffic junction across Nanking Road walking Street and the nearest subway is about 5 mins walk(beside Metersbowe Shopping Mall). The hotel have a large indoor pool and new gym facilities which open from 6am and close at 11pm. I would surely recommend this hotel to those who like big room or family with children. Friends of 4 can also stay in one room instead of booking 2 rooms. This is in my opinion is comparable or even better than most international 4 stars hotel or even 5 stars hotel that i have stayed.

Staff welcomed us 5 hours before the check-in time and we got upgraded to a better suite. They were friendly, professional and with very good english skills. The room is very comfortable, spacious. One living room with kitchen, one bedroom as comfortable as you wish to have and one bathroom with both rain shower and bathtub. We also had choice between smoking or non smoking room. The hotel is located not far from main attractions and shopping areas but would still need to take a taxi to go the the best spots of Shanghai, which is cheap and worth to stay in this hotel. I would recommend it to any friends and my next trips. XieXie :)

when we arrived, they told us that they upgradred our room to their 5 star hotel, grand central hotel, which is beside central hotel. so i cant give information regarding central hotel but they do have a very nice lobby and friendly staffs...the grand central hotel is the best, we stayed there for 5 nights. very close to metro station (east nanjing road) and also to shopping center and restaurants. the room extra nice and 5 star facilities...we did night swimming and its warm water...overall we are very happy and will be back to grand central hotel shanghai for our next visit.

All i want to say is the hotel is one of the best in Shanghai. All the service and room are six-star. It's more than u expected. Breakfast is something you should try, it's difference. If you worried about mandarin(Chinese language) all the staff that i met can speak great english. Bed is really comfortable. If you use hotel's soap, you are going to feel a big difference(I suggest you to bring some sample back as well as name of the soap). hotel located at the center of the crowded road named "nanjing" if you love to watch people walking, ask hotel staff to place you room in the right direction, if u prefer to be with yourself, select another direction. If it's possible try to get a higher floor room, u can expected great view from there. 5-10 min from nearest Starbuck. 0 min to nearest shopping center.

We spend 2 night. Worth it for the money we paid. Closed to mrt, nanjing pedestarian rd, madame tussauds Spend a whole day using city sightseeing bus only for 30 RMB and ticket valid for 24 hours and multiple ride. Convenient, flexible and fun. This the way how to see Shanghai. Shanghai urban planning exhibition hall, art museum, nanjing rd, century square, garden bridge the bund, huangpu river cruise terminal, shanghai old street, city god temple and yu yuan garden, site of 1st national congress of chinese communist party, xintiandi taiping river, huaihai rd, pudong tv tower, shanghai financial centre.

we went to shanghai for the easter weekend, we chose this hotel firstly because it's cheap, secondly its relatively new (opened in sept 2010), thirdly its located at the very heart of shanghai city. so i think it has all you want for a weekend getaway, although there is no view from the hotel, and we havnt had any food there. we enjoyed every bit of shanghai, and recommend this hotel to those who want to spend their money in alternative way, such as wine and dine, spa and night life. hope it helps.

Think we booked the Business A room (with the king sized bed). Requested for clean and quiet room. Better than expected. Firm large clean bed, daily housekeeping, quiet, exceeded our expectations. There is self service washer and dryer available behind the hotel reception. Had to buy detergent and obtain tokens for the machines. Totalled about RMB20+. No idea if it was expensive, but it’s so convenient. Only con was our room window was a bit crappy with a sad bleak view and we had to keep it closed tight as a weird exhaust-like smell could be smelt when opened. But that’s just a small con. Don’t expect the best English nor attitude from the reception staff. May still luck out with some decent ones. Taxis unable to stop in front of hotel as its inaccessible to vehicles. For those using the metro, be prepared to drag luggage up the (short!) escalators between people’s Square station and the hotel. So perhaps rolling in from East Nanjing Rd station may be a better option should you have anything larger than carry on luggage even though it’s a longer distance to the hotel as compared to People’s Square station. This hotel has barely any other amenities, so better suited for the budget traveler looking for a more comfortable stay.

Wodnderful,great and big rooms with clean and comfort bathroom, the stafs of the hotel also very helpful and lovely service with great smile, the lobby of the hotel is great so beautiful with charcter chinese design ,the populer place in shanghai is in nanjing road only take 5 minutes by walking from hotel and we took dining in near the hotel with nice food, visiting shopping mall and near the hotel we found also underground rail station inside shopping mall,visiting also shanghai museum not far from hotel ,15 minutes by walking, we stay 4 days and really enjoy shanghai because the hotel is located in the center of tourism center, Great holiday

From the minute you arrive, the Langham feels like an oasis from the hustle and bustle of Shanghai. You enter your room and a video plays showing pictures of Old Shanghai with a lovely Chinese jazz singer in the background - immediately you are transported to 1930's Shanghai. This video is even better when viewed, soaking the enormous bath tub. Great location near the People's Square, Shanghai Musuem - you are no more than 20 minutes or so from anywhere including the Bund (which you can walk to from the hotel). Service is great and you must try Tang Court for the great value business lunch. There is not much to dislike about this classy, personal hotel. Its definitely my place to stay in Shanghai and loved every minute of it.

We were a bit sceptical at first seeing this is an old YMCA. But, we were quickly impressed by the modernity and how well designed this hotel is. Build in 1920-1930s, it has the old Shanghai western-chinese architecture, but JinJiang has transformed it into modern, stylish, sleek hotel. They still retain the old building, but the interior is well beyond modern. Interactive TV set (w access to room service, internet), stylish ammenities, sleek room design & cabinets. The best thing got to be the LOCATION. We stayed at room 705 (got an early check-in since we want to go to Expo on that day), great view to People Square's garden. Exit the hotel,turn left,and 2 minutes later you land at Metro station (just 1 stop to People Square,5 stops to Expo park). Turn left & 15 mins walk,you got Huahai shopping road & infamous Xin Tian Di; turn right & 15 mins walk, you got Nanjing Lu. Service was excellent. We would definitely stay at Marvel again if we visit Shanghai.

Jinjiang hotels are GREAT hotels if you are looking for a clean, simple and a modern room. They are smaller rooms but are perfect if you will be exploring Shanghai and just need a place to sleep. The staff speaks limited English but they don't bother you. They are willing to help as much as they can. Every time I travel to Shanghai I stay at this brand of hotel. This particle hotel is only a 3 minute walk to the subway and is in a great location.

I love every detail of this hotel, even the smallest one. Was stay here more than 4 weeks. Stay on the 6 person female room and my parents at the King Bed room ont he 2nd floor. The facilities you can get is very worth with the price you pay. The location was very good, 5 minutes walk to the MRT Line 9 (小南门 xiǎo nán mén station Exit 2 or Exit 3), walk straight from the MRT station and you can get some small restaurant there). There is one 24hour minimarket beside the hotel. This hotel is very clean, they mop the floor twice a day, the room and the lobby is very clean too. And what i love the most from this hotel is the staff! All the staff of this hotel is very helpful and kind with all of the guests. Promise them i will stay at this hotel if i come back to Shanghai and will recomend this hotel with my friend who want to travel to Shanghai. The facilities are very good to. The bed and room is so comfort, and they have a cozy lobby. There is 2 PC you can use anytime at the lobby and the pool table behind the receptionist. The receptionist is 24 hour. You can wash your clothes at the Laundry (you need pay with the coin to use the Washing Machine). They can help you to call the taxi too. Thanks for all the service you all give for me. Im very satisfied :)

the jw mariott shanghai hotel is supposed to be one of the best if not the best hotel in shanghai. it is true it is really luxurious and beautiful.. no free internet in the rooms (it is nowadays quite amazing not to have free wireless internet in hotel rooms of this standing, especially in asia). top floor bar is a private mariott club so we were unable to have a drink there. we were nicely offered a promotion package on our arrival which included the use of the club (where you can have free afternoon tea, and early evenings drinks), internet access, breakfast and room upgrade which seems really good if you intend to stay all day and night at the hotel. staff was most efficient and spoke great english. the jw's lounge bar on 40th floor is really good: great atmosphere, good music, lovely decoration and top cocktails and snacks. great location, close to people square, museums, opera etc..

This hotel is a historical landmark of Shanghai. Once the tallest building in the city years ago. The interior is still well-preserved with its historical elegance blended with modern amenities. The single room is comfy for a single traveller. The people park metro station is just right opposite the road with the famous Nanjing west shopping street 5 minutes walk away. It's easy to go everywhere since People park metro is one of the interchange station with 3 different lines. Museums attractions are also 5-10 minutes walk away. A hotel with great location, convenience, history and class. Not to forget, its has a nice japanese restaurant and a certified pearl shop in the hotel itself. However, i'm extremely not happy with agoda and the hotel when i made changes to my booking and my first night payment not able to be refund due to their late communication.

First thing, The location is the best thing of this hotel. Only a flat 10/12 minutes walk to the Bund and Nan Jing Street. Nearest metro Dashijie is straight 5 minutes walk from the hotel. I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. My room was compact, comfortable, clean and well maintained. The bed was super comfy. Room was cleaned everyday. Coffee, Tea, Cookies an Mineral water were replenished daily. So were the bathroom amenities. The staffs were very friendly and professional. They can speak English. I meet a great guy, Robin from hotel Bar, had a great conversation. He helped me to plan my Shanghai trip and find one Indian restaurant nearby. Overall, the hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere in the heart of busy city. Would love to stay again while visiting Shanghai.

this hotel location was super GREAT, you only need to walk around 5 minute from Metro MTR station, this is hotel with value of money, but have great cleanliness especially in bathroom and bed. the room quite small, but its okay if you no need extra space, i recommended this hotel for you want hotel with great location, great cleanliness and you just need hotel for stay in the night and in the day you will travel all around shanghai, this is super recommended

Shanghai has long been on my travel bucket list. The subway system is good, but you don't really want to take it much with so much going on above ground! The Line 2 subway is a good one to know, however, as it goes near the Bund, and also to the airport and train stations. Excellent. STAY AWAY FROM THE SCAM TAXIS AT THE SHANGHAI TRAIN STATION! They will want 200 yuan for what was a 15 minute trip! My rule is to never engage an idle taxi! Search for the Taxi Cue-- its underground and I had to wait for an hour, but the price for the legitimate taxi was 28 yuan, and we encountered little traffic even at 8:30 am. As for the Wu Gong itself, it was a great place to stay. It was only about a 10-minute walk to the not-to-be-missed Shanghai Museum and People's Park. Plan on at least three hours here. Ten minutes east was the center of the Bund, the place to be! If you are into photography, the Bund is better by night with all it's "make-up" lights on than during the daytime. Lots of people here. Very friendly and want to practice English with a little encouragement! And they will want a selfie with you! It is a beautiful place to be, especially on a summer night when all you want is even a little breeze. To the south, it is a very easy walk to the Old Town. Very interesting winding, tree-lined streets. See it fast though. The modern era is encroaching quickly. One old neighborhood is now surrounded by demolition and high rise apartments going up. So sad, really. These people's families have lived in these areas for centuries. Now where do they go? Also, if you want a "treat" at both ends of reality, try the Fangbang Street and the Yuan Tourist Area Bazaar (Bizzarre more like it)! Nearly 99% Chinese tourists and a kitchy area to shop. If you wondered where all the English-speaking Chinese are in Shanghai, they came here to open a shop! The Confucian temple is here as well, and it is easy to miss in the glitter. Look for it. I was lucky enough to catch a little of a ceremo

This little hotel was cheap and noisy, and in a nice area for the price. The staff was lovely and tried from so many angles to make sure all was OK and that I was settled - even when they did not speak English. The room was fine for the price, it was as clean as it could be, and yet the walls were so thin you could hear so much from the hallways. It is a very noisy place to be - and the locks keep beeping when you do not shut the doors properly, so some Chinese families that were really rude and noisy kept their doors off kilter and the alarms and keyless locks kept beeping at all hours. It was quite annoying but oh well - it's China and at least it was Shanghai cheap. Plus the staff was so sweet and nice - I will come back but bring my iPod to not hear all of the drama in the hallways again.

The hotel is located near to people square MRT station. Above the MRT station is a shopping mall,named Raffle. China Mobile branch is very near to the hotel. The Bund is 10 to 15 mins walk from the hotel. The hotel room is small but its OK for us, as we only need the room to shower and sleep. 3 to 4 days are enough to visit most of the attraction in Shanghai. Hotel reception (young Chinese man) is very helpful. MRT day pass cost RMB18. 7/11, convenient stores are 2 to 3 mins walk from the hotel. You may ask the reception to book for 1 day trip to nearest town such as Nangjin, Wuxi, Wu Zhen,Suzhou, etc.

Was a bit skeptical at first due to the high price point, but it really delivered. The front desk is flexible and allowed us a late 4pm checkout. The location is right opposite Daimaru, just 10min walk away from the Bund. We got the city view, but it was still great nonetheless. The room was larger than expected and really comfortable and luxurious. I would recommend it for anyone planning a stay in Shanghai.

Two stations with were just 5 mins away from the hotel, it's not far. There is a shopping mall with many restaurants next to the hotel, but many of them close around 9.30pm. so if you ever came back late and couldn't find a place to eat, don't worry, there is a place with many types of food also not far away from the hotel, they open throughout the night. The staff was super friendly, that's really all I need. The laundry room was super useful. In terms of charging plugs, they have UK socket in the room, that's a plus for me. Not to mention they also have USB charging. In terms of the condition of the room, everything is in new condition and meet the standard of a 4 star hotel; TV and bathroom. Here is not so pleasant experience, every night i can hear showering from the room upstairs, obviously the noise was brief and happen only once per night, but I can hear it. It's not a big deal to me, but you guys have the right to know. Overall, I will definitely choose this hotel again.
