because the price difference was small, i decided to book a better than basic room. it turned out to be a big bargain. you would not love the hotel at first sight because the exterior looks old, but the room was nearly perfect. it was big, tidy with a sense of relief. you can relax on the sofa, choose to make some nice chinese tea or serve yourself a cup of coffee. the location is very good too. sitting just beside yu garden, its only 15 minute walk to the nanjing pedestrian street or the bund. walking to the metro cost you only 5 minutes. the only bad was that there is a construction site nearby.

the hotel is situated in jiujiang road that you just have to cross the street to go to the east nanjing pedestrian street. location is perfect as it's around the middle part of east nanjing where on the right side, you can just walk straight to the bund, or on the left side, you walk straight to people's square. very near to subway station too (east nanjing station, line 2/10). room is good and comfortable. as expected, they provide good quality room amenities, and they even leave you 2 chocolate kisses at night. however, service is something that is lacking in the hotel. they don't really volunteer to help you with your bags when you check-in. they have one concierge (during the day) who's really nice and gives you tips on where to go and what transportation to take. however, this other concierge they have is somewhat impatient, when you ask for directions - maybe because he's not that good in english.

Overall very satisfied with the room service. It's next to the cheap shopping plaza on Nanjing west road, and walking distance to shopping center. At night, Many street food can be found. Also close to Nanjing West subway station line 2, which Goes to all major tourist attraction. Highly recommended. It has a great lounge that sells delicious freshly baked almond cookies

The location is fabulous, one block away from Nanjing Pedestrian Street, close to subway with shops and eateries galore. room has wired and wireless Internet but the wired did not seem to work for me but don't know if it's my laptop port. The WIFI was slow. Room layout is nice, lighting is great - many lamps so you can adjust from a cozy intimate theme or bright like I prefer. Large 7 foot high windows yield spectacular views. I feel pampered in my room, staff was great, permitting me to change rooms after two days. Great hotel at a decent price. Better than Howard Johnsons next door.

1. Great location as it is in the center of Nanjing pedestrian street, which is the place for shopping. And just at the ground floor is a Giordano shop. Also, just right in front of the hotel building is a hop on hop off bus terminal. 2. We were expecting to have a bath tub on our room as it says on the description of our hotel. But there's no one. 3. Breakfast comes with a set menu to choose from (w/ egg, broccoli and hash brown and bread w/ butter and jam - Chinese: fried noodles or bun - Western: sausage or bacon And a buffet of watermelon, oranges, cereals, juice, congee and coffee Their egg (scrambled or sunny side up) and fried noodles are just too oily. 4. Their bath foam and shampoo comes in a small sachet everyday. So better bring your own if you think this is not enough for you. 5. They have water dispenser in the room as oppose to what it says in the hotel description as complimentary bottled water. They have tea but no coffee sachets. Of course, mugs and cups are available. 6. The room is being cleaned everyday except for the hair strands that block the drainage in the shower. 7. There's a receptionist who can speak in English. That's a plus!!!

Decided to spoil myself for the Christmas weekend, and I was not disappointed in the least! The check-in and restaurant personnel on the Club Floor (Fl.30); the concierge; bar staff; restaurant staff; and desk staff on the 2nd floor were all courteous beyond words. I could not have asked for better! If I have overlooked anyone, I do apologize! Moreover, right across from the hotel, on Nanjing Pedestrian Street, there is a very good stock of cigars--Cuban and Nicaraguan that I know of--for those of us who partake in such pleasures; it is a China tobacco outlet, and some very fine brands like Montecristo (#4), Romeo y Juliet (#1), Cohiba, Macanudo and Hoyo de Monterrey can be had for 55-100+ RMB per stick. The location is also great for walking to a lot of the fine foreign restaurants in the Bund area; not to mention an awesome blues and jazz bar (The House of Blues and Jazz) is just a 12 minute walk away on Fuzhou Lu (near Zhongshan Lu), with live entertainment 6 nights a week from 10 to 1:15. I highly recommend Sofitel Hyland.....10 stars!

I reckon that this hotel is the most value for money accommodation one can find in the Nanjing Rd district. It is within walking distance of the bund (about 20 minutes) and nanjing pedestrian street (just around Ye corner). Shops and food is all around and the best feature in a bustling city like Shanghai is having the metro just across the street. Don't expect a gym and pool at this place. Anyway if you're on a vacation here those things don't matter. To Pudong by taxi (I took it to PVG for my return flight; fee was about 180RMB) takes about 1 hour and 1 hr 45 mins there abouts by the metro (only a few yuan per passenger)

Located at the heart of the shopping district of Nanjing pedestrians Street and about 10 mins walk to the Bund. 3. Booked the Business Room and was given a room away from the noisey street. 4. Big and comfortable room with express machine given as complimentary. 5. Unlimited supply of free bottled water Cons 1. Quite expensive for the room 2. No fitness Centre 3. No tour booking service provided by the hotel 4. Aircon not available during my stay, the aircon was only centrally switch on during the night and turned off early in the morning.

radisson blu hotel shanghai new world is conveniently linked to a shopping mall which is connected to a subway station. the location is absolutely worth the money. we get chocolates with each turndown service and newspapers in the morning which i really appreciate. the service by the front office and concierge staff is also commendable. last but not least, the proximity to the famous nanjing pedestrian street is a huge plus point. radisson blu hotel shanghai new world is a hotel i will recommend to any friend who is visiting shanghai.

Excellent location within a few minutes walking distance to People's Park underground station which has good connection to other lines. The business district of Pudong Lujiazui is only 2 stops away. Also within walking distance is Nanjing road pedestrian street for shopping and restaurants. The hotel is always busy. Breakfast has good variety of eastern and western. Executive lounge is good and has nice view of the city. Worth the extra upgrade. The staff at the lounge is attentive and very helpful especially a Ms. Vivian. However, there is a restriction for children at lounge from 530pm onwards. The suite room is clean, quite new, spacious and the bed is comfortable. Room service is prompt and most staff understand basic English. My only complaint is the porter at the front lobby (who is busy chattering) who did not help me with the luggage and not helpful in hailing a taxi to the airport despite my asking for assistance.

This was a perfectly located hotel, close to the historic center of Shanghai. It is one hop away from the Metro, walking distance from People's square and the Shanghai Museum, as well as Nanjing Pedestrian Street. It is but a short distance by cab from the Bund, the French Concession, and the Old Town. I love that it has roots in Shanghai's heydays in the 30s and fully appreciate all the information shared about the hotel and that era. It was absolutely clean and comfortable, had all the amenities I expect from a high-end hotel. For us, personally, it also tied in well with our purpose for coming to Shanghai--that nostalgic flavor that is so appropriate to a return trip to a city where we once lived 25 years ago.

second time stayed in this hotel within a week. stayed in room 209 on july 13 & 14. room is a suite with stairs that lead to the bedroom. bedroom has a small window. room rate did not include breakfast. booked a double room but staff upgraded to a suite. bed is 榻榻米tatami style (mattress on the wooden floor). the living room “downstairs” has a l-shaped couch. suite has two flat screen tvs, two air-conditioning, one closet to hang clothes. unsure if hotel has non-smoking rooms because there was an ashtray in the room. staff also showed me a suite on the 1st floor (room 101) but did not like the room because it does not have stairs. staff speak english well. there are two computers (a desktop & a laptop) in the reception area for customers to use. ikea bathroom amenities. close to the bund & nanjing east pedestrian road. take metro line 2 from the airport & get off at nanjing east road station. take exit #2. once on street level, already at the corner of middle henan road & nanjing east pedestrian road. turn left and walk north along middle henan road. hotel is on the left side. there is an elevator in the hotel but does not work, so need to carry luggage to the rooms. hotel has 3 floors

The hotek was previously known as YMCA hotel, but was taken over and renovated by Jinjiang Hotel Group. The outside of the building is a heritagr design structure but interior design is modern. It's is strategically located between HuaiHai Road and Nanjing Pedestrian Road. Next to the hotel is subway Line no 8 and the next statiion from subway Line no 8 is People Square, is an intershange station whereby you can change to other subway lines. Within walking distance, about 10min walk is the Nanjing Pedestrian Shopping Street. Surrounding the hotel there are many restaurants i.e. Hong kong cafe, McDonald, 7-11, bakery shops etc.

I don't usually write a review, but I should do this time. 리뷰 왠만하면 잘 안하는데요. Room and facilities are very clean in good condition. 방 진짜 깨끗하고 시설들도 다 새거 같아요. Staffs are kind. Staffs can't really speak English but use translator app to communicate with me. 직원들도 친절하시고 한국어든 영어든 번역앱 쓰시면서 말씀해주려고 하시고 The location of the hotel is just 3 stations away from city center (Nanjing East Road, People's square, Waitan and etc.) 호텔 위치도 시내중심부 (난징루, 인민광장, 와이탄 등등)에서 3정거장 밖에 안 걸려요. 호텔옆 지하철 6번출구에 맛있는 훠궈집도 있음! I will be staying again if I can visit Shanghai next time. Strongly recommended!

The place is exactly as advertised. The pictures are exactly what the place looks like without tricky angles to make it look bigger or nicer. The English speaking staff, Louie especially, are very helpful and informative. The rooms are very clean and the water is hot. The washer works well but the dryer is a waste of space and bigger waste of money (not exclusive to this hotel. The dryers in China are generally not very useful). The place is fifty meters from the subway exit and a fifteen minute walk from the Nanjing Shopping District, Bund, Old Warf and a famous old tea house garden that I just happened to find by chance, though there were tour buses all over the place. One word of caution, though the rooms without windows are cheaper, you'd be surprised how important it is to get sunshine in the room.

the jw mariott shanghai hotel is supposed to be one of the best if not the best hotel in shanghai. it is true it is really luxurious and beautiful.. no free internet in the rooms (it is nowadays quite amazing not to have free wireless internet in hotel rooms of this standing, especially in asia). top floor bar is a private mariott club so we were unable to have a drink there. we were nicely offered a promotion package on our arrival which included the use of the club (where you can have free afternoon tea, and early evenings drinks), internet access, breakfast and room upgrade which seems really good if you intend to stay all day and night at the hotel. staff was most efficient and spoke great english. the jw's lounge bar on 40th floor is really good: great atmosphere, good music, lovely decoration and top cocktails and snacks. great location, close to people square, museums, opera etc..

Very good hotel with excellent location, centrally located and with the People's Square Metro Station just across the road, it is very easy to get around the city. Nanjing Pedestrian Street is very near and can reach within 5 minutes walking distance and walking to most shopping area along Nanjing road. Surrounded by all kind of restaurants and eateries. Staffs need to improve their English level in order to have better deal with customers, when I checked in I asked for information for the check out time, the staff dealt with me answered that two o'clock, and I told her that I knew the check in time is 2pm and I want to know the check out time, and still she told me two o'clock and when I pointed at the door card holder stated 12 noon to her, she still said that is correct "two o'clock", ,their English are poor that they even can't pronounce twelve o'clock correctly.

We enjoyed our stay. Arrived 8.30am and allowed to check in straight away. Twin room consisting of 1 double bed and another single bed is reasonable size for the 3 of us. Room was cleaned every day. Coffee, tea and bottled mineral water were replenished daily. So were the bathroom amenities like bath gel, lotion, shampoo and soap. Towels were also replaced daily. Hotel staff were very accommodating. Location wise, it is considered good, about 10 minute walk to Yu Garden and also to East Nanjing pedestrian street. The Bund is 15 away on foot. The nearest metro station is Dashijie on line 8 which is about 500m away, it is one stop away from People square. Alternatively, Yu Garden station on line 10 is 600m away, it is one stop away from East Nanjing station. Overall, we had a great stay with easy access to the city centre and other touristy places.

There are pros and cons at this hotel. I will write them based on my experience Pros: - Very near Nanjing road and tourist spots (The Bund, Nanjing Road, Pearl Tower, etc.) - A lot of food choices nearby - Staff are friendly despite the language barrier - Supplies are replenished everyday (water, slippers, tissues, towels) - Near subway station Cons - There's a lot of dust. My allergy to dust has been triggered after so many years - Water leaks on shower and my room got flooded but thanks to towels they provided. I used it to absorb the water on floor - The window is broken. It's difficult to close or open it. Someone across the street can easily see you if you don't close it - The hair dryer doesn't work well. It suddenly stops while using it. - It can be difficult for guest who has room on 2nd floor because you have to carry your luggage all the way Regardless of these cons, I'd still choose this hotel next time due to its cost and accessibility

We only stay a night at Wugong, room equipt with toothbrush, sampoo, shower gel, shower cap, sandal, kettle, complimentary water, hair dryer etc, room is with WIFI and with a laptop! which is great. Bed is comfy to sleep on, bathroom was ok. We pick this hotel is because of the location and price. Only 5-8minutes walk to the metro station, Nanjing pedestrian street, and 10minutes walk to the Bund... For the price we paid SGD54, it is worth to stay...

Is in the central district with easy access to the Huang Pu Jiang/ River and the Nanjing Pedestrian Road, with a mixed of highend n middle class Shopping - shop lots n malls within walking distance. Shanghai's People Square is just arround the corner. Moving around the city is hazard free as 2 metro stations with 2 different lines passed through the area which leads to both Pudong n Hongqiao Airports. Travel by Taxi is also reasonably price if u used the metre n if there is no serious traffic jams,

I would highly recommend 24k International Hotel People's Square. This is simply because the hotel is accessible n walking distances to many great places. Besides there are a couple of convenience stores n fruit shops. And not to mention there is a hawker stall right in front of the hotel and surrounded it. For those who wanted to know how to walk to the hotel from people square subway is a walk in the park. Please aware there are many exits. For easiest way, Exit 11 n walk left n further down u'll see starbucks.Keep walking until u reach an intersection where u'll see a JW Marriott. Cross the street towards JW Mariott n walk to the left n u'll see a Central Plaza further. Keep walking Huangpu road n about 50m make a right n u'll see Weihai road signboard. Walk straight n on your left u shall see a board written 24k International Hotel People Square on your left. The board will tell u further how to go about it. The distance to Nanjing Lu is not far away either. Walk back to people square subway n take exit 5 u'll reach Nanjing Lu n along the street is all about shopping. And for all u know the next place u reach is The Bund, the most significant of Shanghai attraction. On another note, u can actually save cost by cutting on your transportation. So guys, you do the maths!

Very Good location, good price, can walk to Nanjing Pedestrian Road, People Square Metro 500M, Nanjing East Metro 1KM. Many sight seeing nearby .Neat and clean rooms. Staff can speak English no problem. We stayed twice in this trip in 3 bed. It can accommodate 4 people if the hotel permits. Adjacent McDONALD, Opp. KFC, CHINA MOBILE, CHINA UNICOM MOBILE, Out from hotel left on Zhejiang Middle road number of vegetable fruit shops and small supermarket. Out from hotel take right and walk a few blocks you have CHINA BANK of Foreign Exchange. Walk on Zhejianga Middle load a few blocks you have NANJIN PEDASTRIAN STREET, can spend good time every evening and night time. HOP ON HOP OFF sight seeing bus on Zhejiang Middle road and Nanjing pedestrian cross. To reach from Pudong airport Take Line-2 metro (not MAGLEV) change to another train at Guanglan Station (Same platform other side) (1) If you can walk out at PEOPLES SQAURE (eEXIT-15) after coming out of exit take LEFT walk a little again LEFT After crossing ZHEZJIANG MIDDLE ROAD you can see the hotel to right side. internal 300M and on road about 300M crossing two roads. (2) If you can not walk, out at NANJING ROAD EAST METRO (EXIT-2) and take taxi on the road. About 1 KM (14RMB

We decided to try this new hotel out over the weekend. It was very clean and minimal. While the front desk staffs were well trained the rest were subpar. The walls in our room were paper thin, we could hear music playing, conversations, as well as neighbors's (next to us and above us) slide door banging every time they slid it open/closed. The concierge was not very helpful. We asked where we could dine (Chinese or Western food) in the area, she said we could eat at the hotel otherwise everything was closed. Needless to say, we ended up going online and easily found a place nearby place to eat. The Rooftop bar was beautiful but the service was slow and we felt rushed as we were shown the bill immediately after our drinks arrived. I have to say the interior design and décor was beautifully done. I think it was a good one time experience but not worth revisiting as there are other 5 star hotels that are more competitive in terms of value and amenities it has to offer.

Two stations with were just 5 mins away from the hotel, it's not far. There is a shopping mall with many restaurants next to the hotel, but many of them close around 9.30pm. so if you ever came back late and couldn't find a place to eat, don't worry, there is a place with many types of food also not far away from the hotel, they open throughout the night. The staff was super friendly, that's really all I need. The laundry room was super useful. In terms of charging plugs, they have UK socket in the room, that's a plus for me. Not to mention they also have USB charging. In terms of the condition of the room, everything is in new condition and meet the standard of a 4 star hotel; TV and bathroom. Here is not so pleasant experience, every night i can hear showering from the room upstairs, obviously the noise was brief and happen only once per night, but I can hear it. It's not a big deal to me, but you guys have the right to know. Overall, I will definitely choose this hotel again.
