Hotels near National Exhibition and Convention Center Shanghai

Sofitel Shanghai Hongqiao is an awesome hotel, with outstanding facilities, great gym and couple of nice bars inside the hotel. However it's a quite far from the centre of Shanghai and it takes about 20 min to walk to the Hongqiao station (both train and metro, it's in the same complex). Prices in the Spa (for a massage for example) are very high IMHO, so it just sits there empty and lonely with no clients.

I am from Hong Kong and went to Shanghai from 28/11 - 1/12 for a business trip aim at attending an exhibition at Shanghai NECC. The location of hotel is excellent, just less than 10 mins walk (simply cross over a bridge) and you will arrive NECC. I had a lot of wonderful experiences when staying at the executive floor. For the breakfast buffet, you will be directed to a separated dining room inside executive lounge, and you could choose the food from buffet area and A La Carte menu. You could also use the facilities in business centre for free. For the room, you could also pick a special favor of pillow to sleep. Staff in general is very polite and pleasant, especially I could feel that the supervisors/ managers delivered professional services to the guests. I would also like to make a compliment to William and his fellow colleague Evelyn inside Executive Lounge. They are so kind and just like a close friend of mine; giving me and my family a warm welcome every morning at breakfast time. Chatting with them was the most enjoyable part of my stay in this hotel. They also helped me to solve a problem in related to my business matter promptly. Rooms for improvement to the hotel: - Except the restaurants inside NECC, there is insufficient dining place nearby the hotel and the guests could just dine at the hotel restaurants. However, there is only one restaurant inside the hotel and always full (dinner time) during exhibition period. I was told to go to the 2 restaurants at Primus Hotel (these 2 hotels are in the same group) which is just opposite to the Qube Hotel. However, one restaurant at Primus Hotel was full as well; and the other buffet restaurant serves nearly the same food as the Qube Hotel. The guests have little / or even no choice. - There is room for improvement for the junior staff at the reception of dinner buffet restaurant. If you are a business traveler looking for a spacious and modern hotel, and you are attending an exhibition at NECC, Mercure Shanghai Necc will fit the bill perfectly. Being located away from the city center, it meant almost no traffic jams while travelling to and from Pudong airport. Of course, the downside of this is that there aren't any malls nearby so food options will be limited.

This is a great place to stay if you have a long layover in Shanghai! Just remember there are 2 airports in Shanghai & don't do what I did assuming there was only 1! I landed in Pudong International & thought this hotel was there.. I had to then take another bus for 1hr (after flying 12+ hrs) to Hongqiao airport. If I wasn't so exhausted after all that, I would have really enjoyed seeing more of Shanghai, but instead I enjoyed the spacious hotel room and walking around the airport, which is literally steps away.

great service. there was always someone behind reception that could speak english. the whole complex appears to be very new and the facilities are also excellent. the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. there is a fantastic lounge in the lobby and the restaurant attached serves some unbelievable food! defintely one of the best hotels i have stayed in! unfortunate about the location. it is about 1hour and 30 mins from the center of shanghai and while is seemed to be in a nicer part of fengxiang. it is excellent if you have business in the area and great value for money for a 5 star hotel!

The place is in excellent location, close to subway and the room is spacious and surprisingly at a lower price. I would also like to mention the staff, they are helpful especially in my case, a solo traveler and don't speak Chinese language where I need a reliable people to assist me in giving tips and directions in the tourist spots in Shanghai. I will surely recommend this hotel not because they allow me to check-in early which I'm very thankful but the place and the staff is nice.

This was a great place for a stopover near to the airport. Front desk staff were very helpful, check in / out was quick and efficient and they were happy to arrange taxis. Breakfast buffet was plentiful with lots of choice. My only minor complaint was that it was very hard to get a cup of tea as the Chinese waiting staff (girls) stood around watching but not helping - this was even when spoken to in Chinese. It was only when the male waiting manager spoke to them that I received my drink! I would definitely stay here again.

I spent a night for stopping over. Around 10 mins from Shanghai Hongquiao airport by car. If you took a taxi, 30-35 yuan is proper price. I'm telling you this bc I've got ripped off...): There's a staff who can speak English at the reception, I could ask her what I needed. Clean room and bathroom (wet bathroom), convenience store is near opened until late night, less than 5 mins on foot.

This hotel is located in west Shanghai, close to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, which is a bit far from the city center. You can take a train into the city, but it takes 35-40 minutes. Alternatively, you can take a taxi, but it can take even longer in the rush traffic. However, the hotel standard and service was fantastic, and the rooms are inexpensive compared to the quality.

My stay here started with the staff lying to me. I had booked a King/Queen room. On arrival they told me that all they had was a twin. They could not change it because the hotel "was fully booked tonight". I stood my ground. Told them that either they got me a queen/king or move me to another hotel. 5 minutes and lots of typing later they found me a room that is the right size and what I booked. I hate it when hotels do this. Lie to you about the state of the hotel to get you into the room they want, not the one I booked. This poor start, uncharacteristic for a Le Meridien, set the tone for the stay. The room is ok - bu not up to the Le M standard. It is cold (actually and literally in design). The food was under-seasoned across 4 meals. Staff were nice, when you could find one. I choose this hotel as a the best five star in the part of the city I wanted to be in. And also because I am a fan of the Le M brand. It was a mistake. I would not stay here again.

The staff at Melia were incredible. From check-in to check-out they helped us in every aspect of our stay - carrying luggage, calling taxis (one staff literally ran outside in the rain to make sure our Didi driver knew where to pick us up), and making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We were traveling with our newborn, and the staff were very helpful and accommodating in that regard, even offering to provide a crib if needed. The hotel room was spotless, the gym was excellent, and the breakfast was legit. It was also a short 10 minute drive from the Hongqiao railway station, which is why we selected this hotel in the first place. We will definitely stay at Melia again on subsequent visits to Shanghai!

A true business hotel. I stayed here because it was close to the Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. I got a good nights sleep and was very happy with the room. I was in the hotel less then 24 hours and did not have a chance to use the restaurants or amenities. They do have a nice little coffee shop in the lobby which is convenient but expensive. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a good hotel close to Hongqiao Airport.
