Hotels near Shanghai Confucian Temple

I booked this place with no idea of what it’s like and it proved to be the best decision ever. I recommend it to anyone who’s never been to Shanghai and wants a hotel with central location, great staff support and overall comfort. 5min walk from Yuhuan station (豫园站). This means the famed Shanghai Bund, Cheng Huang Temple are within walking distance. It lies on Line 10 which is convenient and cheap to travel on. Plenty of local eateries nearby. Do search for the 地锅鸡 shop. It’s delicious. Ignore the less than pristine furnishings. Comfort and staff support. I arrived frazzled with missing luggage as the airline took off without it. With nary a delay they immediately took care of the details and made sure to contact me if need be. The room was very cosy and the bed was extremely comfortable with a medium soft bedding. Bathrobes and towels are luxuriously soft. Aromatic toiletries. To top it off, the free minibar and coffee capsules for a relaxing time. I’ll be back.

It was a tough decision for my friend and I to choose hotel in Shanghai knowing the standard and rate in China can be quite different from other countries. We glad that we chose Grand Central despite some reviews said it has slow wifi. We had no problem with it and in fact even VPN works well for me. We love the fact that it is near Nanjing east station and it is very convenient (Family Mart is just behind the hotel, shopping district is just less than 5 minutes). It only cost us about RMB170 from Pudong airport to the hotel but it costs more from hotel to airport (RMB220).The only thing is we book the promo rate which is without breakfast, so can comment much on the food. Overall it was a pleasant stay. We will definitely go back if we are going to Shanghai again.

This is a fine suite hotel with very good accommodation, helpful and efficient staff, and a convenient location to explore most of the ‘must sees’ in Shanghai. On first arrival we were let down by not having a non-smoking’ suite available as we had booked however that was soon resolved and we extended our original booking as we were so pleased with the hotel overall. Whilst the building is quite new the immediate neighborhood is somewhat dilapidated – to some extent because of surrounding incomplete building works but then this applies to so much of Shanghai. Our ‘Comfort Studio’ was spacious, modern, comfortable and fully equipped for an extended stay including a washing machine. For what is offered the tariff is good value. Nanjing West metro station is 10 minute walk and the same distance brings countless dining options into range. Whilst there are a huge number of hotel choices in Shanghai, we are returning in the coming months and have already booked our stays at The One by Kempinski.

I have stayed in other hotels in Shanghai previously but this hotel I would say is the best so far in terms of location, cleanliness, helpful staff, good food served at the restaurant and also strong WiFi signal in room. This hotel so near to the Bund just 8-10 minutes walk and many shopping outlets also within walking distance with the famous Nanjing Street just a stone throw away. I will definitely stay at this hotel from now onwards. For anyone still searching for a hotel in Shanghai, I recommend this hotel without reservation.

I love everything about this hotel. Great staff, lovely room, great location. Situated on the shopping Mall where the shops are. 10 minute taxi to the Fabric Market and 10 minute taxi to French Concession or a short train ride. Train line 2 minute walk from the hotel. The Bund is a 10 minute walk straight down the Mall. I would always stay at this hotel in Shanghai.

we went to shanghai for the easter weekend, we chose this hotel firstly because it's cheap, secondly its relatively new (opened in sept 2010), thirdly its located at the very heart of shanghai city. so i think it has all you want for a weekend getaway, although there is no view from the hotel, and we havnt had any food there. we enjoyed every bit of shanghai, and recommend this hotel to those who want to spend their money in alternative way, such as wine and dine, spa and night life. hope it helps.

The hotel building looks old from the outside but the rooms seems to have been renovated not that long ago and seems new. For the price, I think you will be mostly satisfied with this hotel even though of course there will be better hotels in Shanghai at a higher price. The staff are polite and efficient even though communications in English may be difficult for them but that is a problem you will encounter in many places in Shanghai.

I stayed for only one night, but has already decided that Yangtze boutique hotel to be my go-to hotel in Shanghai in the future. The room is very clean and spacious with a luxurious touch. Hotel staff is very helpful and attentive. The hotel is centrally located, close to all amenities, including No.1 subway station, numerous local restaurants and large shopping malls. It was a great stay and I highly recommend this hotel. The only drawback though, is that I found the bed a bit too soft for me. This is just a personal opinion as I'm not quite use to very soft bed.

If you're looking for a grand, luxurious hotel, this is not it. This is budget hotel with the most basic things you need, bed, closet, bathroom, water, tissue and (local) tv channels. We booked a double room but was so happy that we were upgraded to the suite - for free! :) We stayed in room 205 which was quite nice! :) We didn't have any issues with the elevated "room", neither of us fell down the stairs -- so all good. There's one English local channel - International Channel Shanghai (ICS) and since it was raining non-stop, we stayed longer in the room and watched news, music and cooking shows. We stayed there from Jun 25-28 2014 and it rained non-stop from Jun 25-27 (AM). The bed was quite comfortable, they fix the bed daily and provide you bottled water and new towels everyday (when you ask for it! we didn't ask for change of towels the first day). Everything in the bathroom was fine, worked as expected - cold water if you need it and hot water if you need it hot. The location was quite alright, it's very close to Line 10 and Line 2 (East Nanjing Road station) and you can also walk to The Bund if you want to. It's a nightmare to hail taxis at night esp when it's raining. The ifc mall is RMB30 when we went home via taxi. It's also a short walk to the walking street, and when you exit the hotel, you can spot the forever21 shop a few hundreds of meters away. The Shanghai Henderson mall has restaurants and closes at 10PM. The only thing we didn't like was that after 10PM, there's no place to get food except the 24-hr convenience stores. We're used to both the Philippines and Hong Kong where the "central" area has a lot of 24-hr restaurants/fast-food. The hotel is quite dim but we didn't mind. We were also able to leave our luggage after check-out because our flight wasn't until 8:30 PM.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The directions was a bit confusing as the hotel is better known as the Shanghai YMCA Hotel, rather than "Jinjiang Metropolo" -- as it used to be the Shanhai YMCA. It has a beautiful facade in the style of a Buddhist temple and looks quite unique between the other more modern buildings in Shanghai. My room was very comfortable, and clean. Only the curtains were a little dirty for some reason, but the rest was spotless. The internet connection was decent, although not great -- but I'm used to Korean standards, so it is difficult to compare. If you don't mind a 15 minute walk, it is relatively close to many local attractions such as The Bund, and just across the street from the Shanghai Museum. I gave a 3 out of 5 for the food, but honestly I did not eat at the hotel, so I simply gave the middle score for that. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Our trip to Shanghai started badly. We arrived at 01:45am at Pudong Airport and there's no Airport Pickup service, so somehow we made it to the City and tried to find a Taxi driver who would take us to the hotel, which was difficult because some of 'em didn't even know the address (we showed them the Agoda generated Taxi directions in Chinese language). In the end we arrived at the hotel at 3:45am (!) and we got our room without a problem in the middle of the night - glad it worked out! Our room was awesome, felt really luxurious and we had everything we needed. It takes you 10 minutes to the closest Metro station (two more stations from different line in 15 minutes). Breakfast was great for a tattered European stomach but a little expensive. Only negative is the surrounding provides nothing, there's no convenience store or anything close (thus it's very quiet on the other hand side) and the neighborhood doesn't look too good but that's all. We would def. stay again here!

the subway is nearby, many supermarkets nearby, many food shops around, and some small shops. It is also reaaallly reallly near to WenMiaoLu (anyways u just have to turn right fromthe hotel, and go straight, for like 5 minutes) it's a district that sells lots of anime stuffs & there's a confucius temple there too. Subway are convenient, as this hotel is on subway Line 8 & 10. many famous places are reachable in 2-5 stations only. you can reach the bund in 4 stations, people's square in 2, Rooms are clean, beds are comfy, the place is really comfortable and nice. Toilets are also clean! P.s: oh & btw, there's this shop selling import stuffs (more like snacks & drinks), really cheap nearby, the name is Master, check it out! (go right after the hotel exit, go straight until the 4 intersection, & turn right, just keep going straight you'll see it on ur left hand side)

Been here 30.11.2016 to 02.12.2016 . A nice stay in this hotel with friendly and helpful staff, convenient location. Really appreciate that hotel let us to check in early and take a rest since the room was ready. Nice and clean room. 90% matching what I expect. Equipped with toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet roll, hair dryer, TV, kettle. There is a grocery shop that open 24*7 and steamboat shop besides the hotel. Only a few steps away from bus station to famous Cheng Huang temple (11 road line) and just right opposite metro lrt. **if you got large size luggage please remember to use exit 3 for metro lrt because exit 2 has no escalator or lift. Only drawback of the hotel: it has no lift. Somehow the reception is kind to help us to take the luggage up to second floor. Will definitely choose this hotel again if I visit Shanghai.

the jw mariott shanghai hotel is supposed to be one of the best if not the best hotel in shanghai. it is true it is really luxurious and beautiful.. no free internet in the rooms (it is nowadays quite amazing not to have free wireless internet in hotel rooms of this standing, especially in asia). top floor bar is a private mariott club so we were unable to have a drink there. we were nicely offered a promotion package on our arrival which included the use of the club (where you can have free afternoon tea, and early evenings drinks), internet access, breakfast and room upgrade which seems really good if you intend to stay all day and night at the hotel. staff was most efficient and spoke great english. the jw's lounge bar on 40th floor is really good: great atmosphere, good music, lovely decoration and top cocktails and snacks. great location, close to people square, museums, opera etc..

I booked the hotel for my family and friends on their way to my wedding in China. Despite a lot of confusion over the bookings, and a mistake on the part of the hotel, they were very accommodating and solved the problem quickly. The art deco design of the hotel is interesting and historic, and the rooms were larger than I expected given it's central location. They didn't have breakfast included in our bookings, which was disappointing, but they are extremely convenient to street breakfast, Starbucks, and other nicer places to eat (for other meals as well). Their convenient location to Line 2 made for an easy transition between Pudong airport, Hongqiao airport/train station, and Shanghai Railway station, as well as easy access to sites and nightlife on Line 1, and minimal taxi rides to other locations. It's also a comfortable and enjoyable walk to the Bund. All-in-all, I think this hotel, booked at about 100 USD per room (both twin/double were more or less the same price), was well worth the price based on it's great service, fantastic location, and comfortable accommodations.

There are a MILLION hotels in Shanghai and I chose this one randomly. It's great for the price - close to the Bund and a short 10-12 minute walk to Nanjing Rd (where there is shopping on steroids and a subway that goes straight to either airport for 7 yuan), yet also nestled in the thriving backstreets of Shanghai right opposite a park. Staff were friendly and helpful, bed was comfy and although the motorway is nearby I hardly heard it (and I'm a super light sleeper). Would definitely consider it again.

this hotel location was super GREAT, you only need to walk around 5 minute from Metro MTR station, this is hotel with value of money, but have great cleanliness especially in bathroom and bed. the room quite small, but its okay if you no need extra space, i recommended this hotel for you want hotel with great location, great cleanliness and you just need hotel for stay in the night and in the day you will travel all around shanghai, this is super recommended

Shanghai has long been on my travel bucket list. The subway system is good, but you don't really want to take it much with so much going on above ground! The Line 2 subway is a good one to know, however, as it goes near the Bund, and also to the airport and train stations. Excellent. STAY AWAY FROM THE SCAM TAXIS AT THE SHANGHAI TRAIN STATION! They will want 200 yuan for what was a 15 minute trip! My rule is to never engage an idle taxi! Search for the Taxi Cue-- its underground and I had to wait for an hour, but the price for the legitimate taxi was 28 yuan, and we encountered little traffic even at 8:30 am. As for the Wu Gong itself, it was a great place to stay. It was only about a 10-minute walk to the not-to-be-missed Shanghai Museum and People's Park. Plan on at least three hours here. Ten minutes east was the center of the Bund, the place to be! If you are into photography, the Bund is better by night with all it's "make-up" lights on than during the daytime. Lots of people here. Very friendly and want to practice English with a little encouragement! And they will want a selfie with you! It is a beautiful place to be, especially on a summer night when all you want is even a little breeze. To the south, it is a very easy walk to the Old Town. Very interesting winding, tree-lined streets. See it fast though. The modern era is encroaching quickly. One old neighborhood is now surrounded by demolition and high rise apartments going up. So sad, really. These people's families have lived in these areas for centuries. Now where do they go? Also, if you want a "treat" at both ends of reality, try the Fangbang Street and the Yuan Tourist Area Bazaar (Bizzarre more like it)! Nearly 99% Chinese tourists and a kitchy area to shop. If you wondered where all the English-speaking Chinese are in Shanghai, they came here to open a shop! The Confucian temple is here as well, and it is easy to miss in the glitter. Look for it. I was lucky enough to catch a little of a ceremo

A centrally located hotel. very near to Nanjing East Lu, people's square, people's square Metro Station on Line No.02 and the Bund. The ATM , laundry,Pharmacy, fruit shop, General Stores,Public transport, restaurants and all major attractions are nearby. The hotel is clean with nice clean rooms. The staff is very attentive and helpful. The staff is fluent in English. In brief, It is value for money. I will stay here again on my next visit to Shanghai.

We decided to try this new hotel out over the weekend. It was very clean and minimal. While the front desk staffs were well trained the rest were subpar. The walls in our room were paper thin, we could hear music playing, conversations, as well as neighbors's (next to us and above us) slide door banging every time they slid it open/closed. The concierge was not very helpful. We asked where we could dine (Chinese or Western food) in the area, she said we could eat at the hotel otherwise everything was closed. Needless to say, we ended up going online and easily found a place nearby place to eat. The Rooftop bar was beautiful but the service was slow and we felt rushed as we were shown the bill immediately after our drinks arrived. I have to say the interior design and décor was beautifully done. I think it was a good one time experience but not worth revisiting as there are other 5 star hotels that are more competitive in terms of value and amenities it has to offer.

The location is convenient is abt 10 mins walk to Metro Station and Shanghai Lao Jie Yu Garden.The price is value of money. If you able to walk , you also can walk to The Bund Riverside and Pearl Tower. At the same time u also can see more things instead of taking Metro to Pearl Tower..But around the hotel not much food around the area during night time. And the hotel is quite new.. The next time visit Shanghai will consider to check in this hotel again..Overall total I will give 4 star to this hotel..
