i stayed at lso in august, and had been looking forward a second chance to stay here. i stayed at room xx02 the first time. fantastic view of the bund. i stayed at xx07, incredible view of both the bund and pudong, right across from the eastern pearl tower. i was invited to come back and stay at room xx03 and xx05 that are supposed to be even better than xx07. i don't know how it can be better than what i saw, but i am again looking forward to my next trip to shanghai so i can try out the other rooms. excellent views only get you so far for a hotel. the amenity, service, attention to details, such as orchid and exotic flowers subtly adorned my room, toto washlet toilet, overflowing bathtub in front overlooking the bund, water-proof remote for the tv over the bath, two-in-one integrated foaming shaving kit, free soft drinks, snacks, espresso, grocery-store-priced wine, great service attitude, to name a few. it is my favorite hotel in shanghai. in fact, it is my favorite in the world so far, among china, hong kong, paris, u.s., mexico, and canada. two things to be improved (hope hotel management reads this): the ipad that used to be freely available for use in the office was removed for other purposes. there is no valet parking service. more specifically, they said you must call in advance and pay hundreds of yuan (i believe it was around yuan/day). i don't understand how valet parking can cost half the price of the hotel room--big disappointment. but i love the hotel so much that i am willing to use my own ipad and give up driving in exchange of staying here.

what a spectacular hotel! its history is enough to sell the hotel, but add to this its excellent location (junction of the bund waterfront and nanjing dong lu retail strip), beautiful art-deco/colonial interior design, and very friendly staff, you will be a fantastic hotel. even though my room (definitely the cheapest one in the hotel) faces a courtyard, the room is incredibly spacious with its own walk-in wardrobe, passage way, alcove with study desk, large 3-seater sofa, and a white/black marble bathroom (with 2 sinks, a shower stall and claw-foot bath tub, with its personal tv). yet in this lofty hotel, the staff are incredibly personal and friendly! from evida (the smiley receptionist) to mimi (the friendly pool attendant) to eddy (the efficient and professional head waiter at cathay room) to the many room attendants, everybody showed passion and dedication! there are more glitzy hotels in shanghai (e.g. peninsula and waldorf astoria are more bright, shiny and gleamingly beautiful), but the peace is a historical institution that must be experienced. the only minor 'down' sides are: (a) no tea bags in the room (although there is a nespresso-like coffee machine); (b) rather plain swimming pool (very efficient 18 metre pool, but relatively unadorned environment); (c) limited photography permitted in the lobby. nevertheless, the negatives pale to the incredible positives of this charmed hotel!

Probably one of the best hotel I stayed in Shanghai the most hip and happening among all three Hyatt in the city. Spent my new year eve count down at the Vue bar, very memorable and unforgettable experience, it offer stunning view of Shanghai both Pu dong and Pu xi view, thought the location of the hotel is at Pu xi side. I would recommend all guest to have a drink at the Vue bar to chill out. Being situated at Pu xi, Huang Pu Road the hotel is minutes walk from the Bund and nan jing road where most of the great, shopping, restaurant and bar located at. Very convenient location. As for the facility, Hyatt on the Bund provide better facility than other 5 star hotel in city. warm pool and great gym. I stayed at the club room on the east tower at 27 floor that offer magnificent view, the room is spacious and amenity is nice. I truly enjoy my stay at Hyatt on Bund and will stay here again come May Shanghai Expo.

Recently renovated, during my 6 week stay in Asia the Jinjiang Metropolo Hotel Bund Circle was clearly the 'best value' hotel of my trip. I originally intended to stay for 1 week, but enjoyed the hotel so much, I extended my stay for another week. Actually the staff deserve 5 stars, but since I only could speak English there were a few minor communication problems. I would surely stay here again when I visit Shanghai.

I spent here two days with my friend.the hotel is very closed to the Nanjing road East metro station and very close to the main street.The entrance road look a little weird,but once you arrive at the hotel you can see that It's great!very beautiful hall,great hospitality,clean rooms.at the reception they are very friendly and they can speak English.my room was a little bit cold, but really nice.I live in Beijing and I can say this is one of the best hotel you can find in China.if I have to come back to shanghai I would come here again for sure. Positive experience!!!

What I love about the W chain of hotels is that you are always assured of a certain standard. I've stayed at other W's as well and I have never had any complaints. The same goes for the W Shanghai. I stayed in the Spectacular Room with a panoramic view of the Bund, breathtaking both day and night. The bathroom was spacious with his and her sinks, huge bathtub, waterfall shower as well as a Japanese toilet. The bed was very comfortable and the huge sofa that ran along the windows was the perfect perch from which to observe the world below. Special mention also goes to the wonderful staff working there. From the minute you walk into the lobby you are greeted by friendly faces at the ready should you need help. The same goes for the FOH staff at the check-in desks. You're attended to immediately following your exit from the elevators. They will also give you some infused water if the outside heat was a bit too much to bare. Thanks for a lovely stay!

the hotel had a friendly and helpful staff. the room was very nice and quite reasonable for the price. best of all is the wonderful view of the river. the hotel is well named, "the riverview." at night the bund is illuminated and stretches in a crescent shape along the river. the old historic buildings give one a sense what shanghai must have been like back in its heyday. if one has ever read a book about old shanghai, you can almost imagine the streets teeming with white russian exiles, british merchants and a host of other foreign business and trade representatives. across the river are stunning modern skyscrapers that are a vision of the future. nearby is the hip and urbane "cool docks" with its jazz bars, pubs and trendy restaurants. if you want a blend of the old and the modern then make your next stay in shanghai at the riverview.

We had a great time at Shanghai mostly because of the location and services of the Hotel. Location was perfect . It was just walking distance to Tiantong subway station and one stop from East Nanjing Road station. I want to thank the management and staff of hotel because of their hospitality and what the did for us. We had an accident on our way to hotel from train station . We were pretty shaken from the impact of the accident. It was almost midnight ; I called the hotel to inform them about what has happened . In few minutes one the staff showed up and helped us with to the hotel. Looking at our condition and situation we were in they upgraded our room to a bigger room with no cost. This act of the hotel staff was kind and generous and made our 6 days stay in Shanghai much more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel .

This is a great hotel in Shanghai in which I usually stay. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. I particularly enjoy the infinity swimming pool at the top with a great view on the city. The hotel is well located as well: close to the Yu Garden, the Bund, Nanjing Road (shopping street) and Pudong. The metro station is just next to the hotel.

Well people. I have been visiting more than 50 hotels in Shanghai along the years and this is, so far, the best I had. It is exactly on the bund, few minutes walking from Nanjing Road and in a magic atmosphere. Rooms a big but mainly extremely elegant. Nothing is out of place. Toilet marble matches the wall color, that matches the paintings that match the pillow tissue... Lobby and all the adjacent saloons are breathtaking and the attitude of people around the hotel is super. It is not cheap, this, of course is the counterpart: but worths every cent you spend. Oh, I was about to forget: don't miss the breakfast!

Weary after a light night arrival in Shanghai, arriving at the Westin was exactly what I needed to get my trip off to a good start, starting with the ATM on-premises so I could pay my taxi fare (since all of the Pudong Airport ATMs were out of service). The room was first-rate, and the hotel had all of the amenities one would expect. The staff were all friendly, helpful and language proficient, and the breakfast was very good, albeit quite pricey at roughly 250 yuan. It is well-located, a short walk to the Haungpu river with its iconic views of the Pudong New Area skyline, as well as People's Park and a good deal of Shanghai's modern shopping areas.

The location is just a 3 min walk from the Bund, 6 mins walk to the East Nanjing Road subway and East Nanjing Road. You can also walk to Yuyuan Garden and Shanghai Museum, People's Square. But it will take about 15 mins. The hotel is very tastefully decorated. The room we had had a bathtub, a separate shower area and a separate washroom. The WC uses electronic bidet. The walls of the room were thick and we were totally insulated from the sounds at the corridor. Wifi was stable. We struggled a little with the room heating control. Can't seem to get it right, even when the staff helped us. So it was a little too warm. The staff were polite but not overly friendly. We felt very secure because the room card can only access the floor that you are on. And the door man will escort all guests to the lift to ensure they are a valid guest.

I was contemplating between Waldorf Astoria and Peninsula and after reading reviews, decided to put my money on Peninsula and I was not disappointed. Located on the historical Bund of Shanghai, the Peninsula brought out the classy Shanghai with all the modern comforts as Peninsula is known for. Decor was plush and comfortable, and we were warmly greeted by all staff. Check in was a bit tedious as expected in China due to the medley of paperwork and forms that the reception had to fill in. However, the room was spacious and all amenities were in place. I was impressed with the finishings as having lived in Shanghai before, I am well aware of how hard it is to get good quality furnishing work done, but everything from elevator doors to the hidden drawers in the room which revealed a coffee machine, a fax machine, storage drawers, safe, etc are very well done. The bed was perfectly comfortable, firm but not hard and pillows are of the right softness. Concierge was very helpful with directions and the location of the Peninsula was great, near all the places that I wanted to go and within walking distance to most of them. Taxis are also easy to get and most taxis know the Peninsula as the best hotel in Shanghai. I was informed by the taxi driver who took me to the hotel that there is no better hotel in Shanghai, and I was not disappointed.

The location of the hotel is really super: directly at the northern end of the Bund. When the new promenade is ready it will be one of the best-situated hotels in Shanghai for tourists. In order to fully benefit of this location, it is an absolute must to take a riverside room, the higher the floot, the better! The view is spectacular, overlooking a large stretch of the river bend, the most intersting part of the Bund and the famous skyline of Pudong ! We were able to see the New Year's Eve fireworks from the comfort of our bed !! We recommend this hotel without any restraint!

Second time to stay at the Elegance. Our first stay was more pleasant as the room was much cleaner, newer, bigger, and more comfortable in general. During our second stay we were put into an old room which was dark, several lights weren't working and the air-conditioner didn't work so we had to ask to change rooms. The second room was better in terms of lighting and the air-conditioning, but the bed mattress was quite old and could feel the springs. The carpet in this room was a little dirty, but the bathroom and shower were both clean and shower always had hot water. Overall, still a nice good value hotel in Shanghai and would stay there again anytime I am in Shanghai.

I didn't set a high expectation when I reserved a room at the budget hotel given its low rate (I stayed in another budget hotel nearby [a different hotel chain] half a year ago with similar rate but the premise, amenity and service were below par). It was a pleasant surprise that the property was very well-maintained, the service was good, and the room was very comfortable. Everything is as good as what I expect a three-star hotel would offer (except that their facilities are of course not up to a 3* hotel standard). I would love to return to this hotel next time.

For it's nightly rate, this place is so well located to the Bund! I was originally á little hesitant to stay here because of some reviews, but I actually had a good experience. My room was old looking, but it was spacious, basically clean and had good air conditioning. I felt safe there just like out on the streets of Shanghai because there was CCTV everywhere. They have me new toothbrush, shampoo and slippers everyday. This is not the Hilton, but if you are easy going, you will be fine.

Before booking the hotel in Shanghai, I had not enough information on this hotel. But I always trust Sheraton name itself, so we tried to experience this hotel at this time. To be honest, it was more than my expectation. Well-equipped accomodation and variety of food in the breakfast buffet. But around of the hotel is still under construction and undeveloped.. so it was hard to find out convenience store, even local makret close down earlier. Without this thing, everything was good.

This was one of the best hotel experience I have had in Shanghai for many years. As business traveller I don't need a vibrant neighborhood for the hotel I stayed, but a nice, comfortable room and easy access to other areas of Shanghai by taxi. Hotel staff are very helpful and with good English speaking skills; both interior and exterior of the hotel is 5-star, especially the bathroom. Shower is very powerful. For the price I paid, great value for money (when a 4-star could charge even more than this hotel if it locates at Nanjing Road). Only downside is it is not on the Bund but already passed the Bund on the north, and if you wanted to be close to the attractions you better take a taxi than walking.

I have been to Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund regularly to eat at its fantastic restaurant, Char Grill & Bar. This if the first time I stayed at the hotel and was treated to a wonderful reception and service by Star Lu. i was given a room with great views of the the Huangpu River, the Bund and the financial district of Pudong with its dazzling lights. The room is clean and the bed very very comfortable. Toiletry items are tip-top. It was a lazy Sunday the next day as we had late breakfast and coffee. This hotel is just so appealing. The only thing they need to improve on is their carpark and a covered walkway to the hotel entrance. Then it would be almost perfect. Great hotel!
