"the hotel's location on century square and near the nanjing east road is just perfect. you can walk easily to people's park, the city temple or to the bund - but you don't need to. the welcome at this hotel was absolutely spectacular. in addition to the doorman who opened the car door and the page who took care of the luggage four other hotel staffs took a bow in the door ... - that the guest on his way to the front desk needs to cross the central located dining area contrasts the ebullient first impression a little. but the booked suite did let this waltz fade into the background. very dignified, very well designed, tasteful details, a stylish bathroom, plenty of space, great views, a fantastic bed - all at its finest. also nice, the little regards of the house, local delicacies, fruits and sweets – besides this the housekeeping here was simply outstanding. above all, the bed was dreamlike in its literal sense: i’ve rarely ever slept as comfortable as in the grand central - and more one couldn’t really expect in this regard from any hotel. if you want to find one flaw, then maybe in connection with the breakfast, which in terms of quality and selection oddly revealed clear shortcomings. but to make a big affair out of this would mean complaining at the highest level. the rooms were great, the sleep was as good as it can be – most unlikely that i would choose another place to stay in case of returning to this city."

"Overall, a nice hotel for the price I found my room and bathroom to be clean and tidy. This hotel is on the pedestrian mall section of Nanjing Road within 5 minutes walk to the East Nanjing Metro station. Since the hotel is on a pedestrian mall, a taxi will drop you off some distance away from the hotel. From the Metro Station, it is easy to get to Pudong Airport or the MagLev to the airport. The Agoda map location was incorrect. From the East Nanjing Metro station, you need to walk along Nanjing Road AWAY from the Bund, NOT towards the Bund. There is a side street near the hotel that serves a variety of Chinese food. Many snack food places and several reasonably priced restaurants. In the early mornings, various Tai Chi groups are exercising in front of the hotel. At night after 10:00 pm, I saw some rollerbladers and rollerskaters practicing outside. Lots of police and security out on Nanjing Road now compared to earlier years. Very safe and far fewer street hawkers trying to sell you stuff. It is true, if you go to the front desk around noon, it will be very busy and difficult to check in. At other times, the front desk is not busy and things are more leisurely. From the hotel, it's about a 15 minute walk to the Bund. If you want to keep the room AC running and don't want to fuss with the complicated controls, ask the front desk for 2 cards."

"I can't recommend the Campanile Shanghai Bund Hotel highly enough. The staff, from the front desk, to housekeeping to the restaurant were all professional, polite and helpful. Three Metro lines are very close to the hotel, so you can get anywhere in the City easily and cheaply. The Bund, People Square, Nanjing Shopping Street and many other landmarks are within walking distance. The neighborhood is very safe and next to a lovely park for walking or just relaxing. There are also plenty of restaurants, convenience stores etc. very close by. The was my first time in Shanghai and I knew the general area I wanted to stay in. The Campanile checked a lot of boxes, but you never know until you actually check in and the hotel exceeded my expectations ... and the price is right. My room was not huge, but large enough and well appointed with nice amenities and house keeping kept it spick and span every day. I will stay here again on my next Shanghai visit. The daily breakfast was tasty. "

"Half block from Nanjing Road East, walkable mid way between Peoples Square and the Bund and subways. Requested a high room and view of city and Pudong, somewhat and reasonably obstructed, was wonderful. Even in the cloudy and rainy weather. WIFI service was great, especially compared to other places we stayed throughout the country. Information desk staff spoke English well. They were patient as we asked our frequent questions. A reminder to travelers that we need to be patient as staff tries to understand what it is we want. Because of other plans and our schedule we did not eat in any of the restaurants including breakfast. The piano bar looked very inviting and prices seemed comparable to hotel lounges. Firm bed was very comfortable. Having a full desk and small sitting area made with TV made our stay more relaxing. Oh! Wonderful mirrors and good lighting in the bathroom for applying make up. (So often bathroom lights are dim. ). Family Mart, a quick stop store, down the block from main entrance, made it easy to pick up our nightly beers. "
