The hotel is nice but showing its age. Having said that the room was clean and the staff ok. We did have some problems when it took two hours for room service to arrive - only after we had called to cancel and said we no longer wanted to eat. also, we asked the hotel to call us a taxi - they told us it would be 5 minutes..5 more...just 5 ore..the taxi never came. You are better to order DiDi taxi on the Alipay App. We were not in the main building so I don't know what that is like.

Location is fine, walking distance to many places and easy to get taxis (didi) everywhere. Breakfast was not bad but very similar every day. Note that the property is big, with several buildings of different categories. Rooms at Cathay Garden building are dated - still maintain a luxury feel - but definitely not 5 star. The carpets are disgusting, with hair from different guests and lots of stains everywhere. Many days we had cigarette smell coming from the central air-conditioning during the night even when we were informed by the receptionist that all rooms are non-smoking. Windows in our twin bed room were frosted blocking the view. Check-in took long time. Front desk not very friendly. Cleaning staff was very friendly though. They ask for 500rmb deposit per room.

I've stayed at the Jin Jiang many times, usually in the Cathay Building. This complex was the CCP state guest residence, so considerably history and air of formality. This time, was in Garden Building, which seems in need of refreshing. Staff very kind and helpful, rooms comfortable. I really appreciated the steeping tub to ease my aching joints. Location is near many historic sites and shopping if all sorts other than groceries. Close to South Shanxxi Metro stop.

Room: The building itself is somewhat old but very cleanly maintained, and the interior, including the bathroom, has been renovated to a modern and tidy standard. The room feels more spacious and comfortable than it appears in the photos. There is a distinctive charm of an old building, so I made sure to ventilate it thoroughly upon arrival. Location: I ended up taking taxis anyway, but it is adjacent to several subway lines. There is an IAPM shopping mall nearby, making it very convenient for meals and shopping. Additionally, it is close to various other shopping malls and local shops. Service: Generally very friendly, and there were no issues with communication. When ordering external food delivery to the hotel or requesting items at the front desk, a robot delivers them to the room lol. Breakfast: Good value for money. It was included in the accommodation, so I planned to try it once and skip it if it wasn't great, but I ended up eating it for three days straight. A collaboration of Chinese and Western styles. The fruit was so delicious that it was worth it just for that.
