Lovely hotel and amazing friendliness and service”
I'm so glad that I chose Lyceum Home for my stay in Chiangmai. My room is designed in Thai style and I can see the mountains of Doi Suthep from my window. The staff are mostly young people and are amazingly energetic and friendly. They even brought me out to dinner to sample (chim chim!) local and regional Thai food. At the end of my stay, the kind manager Ching offered to send me to the airport as she was just heading in that direction too. There's a cafe about 2-5 minutes' walk away named Fai Bakery which sells delicious local and western fare, plus of course, bread. The location of the hotel is just along the walls of the old city, which is fine if you like a quiet and peaceful environment to rest in outside the buzz of the bars and night markets. It's suitably located for an exploration into the old city where many old temples are. Lastly, I wanna say "hi!" to Ching, Phi Seet, Karn, Chair (for often standing in the hot sun and helping me hail the 'rod dteng' taxis, or 'songthaews' as they're called), Mint, View, Apple and the rest of the staff I didn't quite get the names of.

Everything's fine except for breakfast.”
Everything's just fine. The room is not luxurious but provided common basic things like air-conditioner, fridge, tv including free wifi in room. The hotel is located in the city which makes it easy to get on Chiang Mai red pick-up trucks as many of em pass in front of the hotel, it's also just 10-min walk to Sunday walking street market. However, there's tutor center on the first floor, you may have trouble noticing the hotel at first, just look for 'City Nail' nearby (Arak soi 6). The only one thing I'm not so satisfied with is breakfast. There's not much variety of food, no cereals or milk, no sausages in some morning. There's coffee, orange juice, toast, and some Thai food. If you're not gonna have breakfast at the hotel or if you're used to Thai food then this shouldn't be a problem.

Value for money, big rooms.”
Lyceum is also an education camp so lots of activity in the mornings. Hotel facilities are a little dated but still comfortable. The location is pretty quiet generally (away from the major touristic hustle and bustle and close to a few good restaurants ) but it is on Arak st- a pretty busy old city street.

Cozy hotel with big rooms”
I enjoyed my stay here at Lyceum home, the room was big and clean, and had all the essentials. It was a bit far from the eastern part of the old city, which is where many of the markets and such are located.

Nice rooms in awkward location of a school”
I was traveling with a group of five. We asked for an extra bed in one of our two rooms. The bed was a mattress on the floor, but it was comfortable! It was not one of the typical cots that we've had in other locations. We loved the breakfast - they accommodated vegetarians nicely. Overall, it was a great hotel! Don't be fooled by the fact that it is part of a school, that was a little weird for us to walk into Lyceum School, haha.

Inexpensive room, large and standard”
Location is not great but in the old city, the room is quite large with decent bathroom but the great thing about this hotel is price. It's not close to what's happening in chiang mai, but in the managable range.

Clean and comfortable”
I had a lovely 4 day 3 night stay at this hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is great. I found it easy to move round the city from the hotel with regular tuk tuk's and other modes of transport. It is good value for money.

Simple, quiet, does the job but far from shops”
Room was clean and they allowed me to check in early. It was real basic, nothing flashy but had warm water and nice staff. The location isn't the best, although it's still in the old city so convenient nonetheless with a taxi always passing by. Not much to eat or do around the hotel though, but it was super cheap so a good deal! They don't have a workstation computer though, so be sure to bring your own ipad or computer!

Big room, good value for paid price”
It's a student dorm convert to hotel. Student in the first floor make atmostphere... brighter. However they're rather noisy. Room is big, Not that well decorate, matching well with price offered. It's a very good choice if you can't find other hotel in some situation, like long weekend.

Good value for money”
Very nice hotel, it's particular because it is actually a school with a hotel inside. The facilities are excellent, wifi is super fast, there is AC, TV, toiletries, refrigerator and complementary water bottle. Another plus point is the cleanness, the room was cleaned everyday. The only minus point was the noise, the hotel is on the main road in the south gate of the citadel and there was a lot of traffic day and night, it was quite annoying if you want to get some quality sleep.

Great Staff!”
an old hotel. The lift is very small and very old. Its very quiet room. Downstairs is restaurant. Many student come to study. Very worth the money if you just need a place to sleep. Red Car to airport is 150baht. Very easy to find red car from in front of hotel. And the staff help me to rent a motorbike. the staff is great!

Simple rooms”
Very friendly staff. Rooms simple and clean. Breakfast was very nice. There is an outside area on the 1st floor like large patio garden nice and quiet. Although by the moat in the old city most of the bars and restaurants are on the other side, maybe a kilometer walk.

Chang Yet!! Lyceum Home - Chiang mai review”
We stayed at Lyceum 4 nights over new years. overall impression was not favourable. The air con units were sub par and some of the rooms are sweltering during the day especially with large picture windows with sunlight shining through all day, curtains were insufficient. We had to request a new room since running air con at max couldnt get temperature below 'lying in bed sweating temps', new room was only slightly more comfortable. The units appeared to be recently renovated but showed signs of shoddy craftsmanship throughout, eg; uneven tiling, poorly planned electrical placement and wiring, paint spatter in hallways and room floors location was slightly inconvenient. granted, having booked online we weren't fully aware of the arrangement of the city centre but for the new years markets and restaurant and 'farang' districts on the east side of the city centre it was on more than one occasion difficult to get red cabs to go to the other side to get back to the hotel. Beds were nice, linen clean. staff funny and helpful, service fine. only complaints were of the actual accomodation. I would be happy to pay 350-400 for accomodation such as this in Chiangmai

Almost OK”
This is just not a three star. Maybe at one time it was. Everything is well maintained but old and in need of replacements. Staff and wifi were very good. Location is a bit noisy even for Chiang Mai. I would rate this 6.9 but not a 7 or above. With so many choices in Chiang Mai I will probably not stay here again unless Agoda has a good deal offered.

Great value for the price”
this hotel is on the west side of old town. most of the action and night life is on the east side. so the location is not the greatest if you don't have a motor bike and don't want to walk a lot. we had a motor bike and thought the location was excellent. clean and quite rooms, even during the busy chinese new year season. breakfast was nothing special, but is was included with the room. i would definitely stay there again.

A bit far from the center and hard to find”
The hotel is quite hard to find, as it is inside a school building (Lyceum school). It's also a bit far from the center (on the opposite of the town). The room was just ok. The breakfast was bad, we cancelled it on the following days and ate somewhere else. WiFi was working well, also in the room.

Friendly helpful staff”
Lyceum is a school/hotel, the hotel part of the operation is in dire need of a major retrofit. The first impression upon entering the cluttered lobby is not a good one, for a school or hotel. The room I stayed in was in a similar state as the lobby but was clean.

Good for relaxation.”
