Find hotels near New Hongqiao Commercial Center and Changning in Shanghai, China

I'm frequently in Shanghai and prefer the Hongqiao area, as I used to live here. Usually I stay at one of the International hotels nearby, but decided to try Rainbow Hotel, because the Agoda offer was extremely attractive. All taxi drivers will find this hotel on Yanan Xi Lu (Yanan West Road) when you use the Chinese name, Hongqiao Bingwan. A short taxi drive from here, is the Laowai jia (Hongmei entertainment street) with many International restaurants, pubs and bars, a popular place for expats and locals. The Pearl Center with its many stalls, sells all kinds of goods, including copies/fakes of well known brands. Vendors start with up to 10 times the price it's worth, but there are some respectable shops in there too, e.g. for pearls and cashmere.

When we checked in, due to breakfast not being included in the room cost, I went to purchase and pay for breakfasts and it was very expensive! The receptionist offered a room upgrade to exec level, 54th floor which included breakfast, exec club access etc for an additional 800RMB, so I took it - excellent choice, however, this did put the room into a 250 or so per night price bracket and I could have been in the Hilton or a Westin for that amount. The room was excellent, and the bathroom and shower with separate huge bath was a welcome sight after the Ibis we had been staying in at Harbin. Floor to ceiling windows offered a second to none view of Shanghai, fresh fruit in the room, a good choice of bars and eateries to suit most budgets are at the hotel - assuming if you are staying there, you can afford reasonably expensive meals. The staff oozed 5 star quality, spoke excellent English and may our 2 nights there a joy. Location is a little out of the way if you want to use the Metro, but taxis are cheap, and there is a station about 20 mins walk from the hotel. All in all and excellent experience. This is also my last of 3 reviews and I need to point out that Agoda have my business from here on in for all Asian room bookings - I stay in a lot of hotels every year, and usually use another booking engine nowhere near as efficient as Agoda

If you need to go near Hongqiao airport, this is the place to stay. Got a few really good restaurants, next-door there's a great Chinese restaurant, and there's a little outdoor garden we can order drinks and smoke. The rooms are quite nice, and it's a very big fitness center. One important thing, I do not recommend the executive floor. For some reason we have to take an elevator up to The third floor, and walk down a long hallway, you have to walk by the gym and spa and even drag your bags down a flight of stairs only to get into another elevator for the executive wing. The whole experience is a giant pain totally not worth it, So avoid the executive wing.

We chose this hotel on the way back from Nanjing, mainly because of it location near Hongqiao Railway Station. It's location is also near to Shanghai Zoo, as we planned to spend a day at the Zoo with the Kids, so it worked out well. We also wen to Shangahai Science & Technology Museuym, though it is a bit far and required changing train. For vacationers, the location of this hotel is more suitable for exploring the west side of the city, although the hotel seemed to cater mainly for Japanese businessmen, as the Takashimaya complex is right next door coming out of the Metro station. We checked into a suite room, and found the carpet in worn and dirty conditions in that particular suite.

I selected this hotel purely based on its location in walking distance to the office of my client. My expectation were moderate based on the reviews by other travellers . And I was so very positively surprised! At my arrival I was greeted by very friendly staff and the gentleman at the check in counter said the magic words: "we would like to upgrade you". The " apartment" I stayed in was not only very spacious but it also was well appointed and equipped with a kitchen (espresso machine and washing machine), clean, pretty, had a lovely view over the roofs of Shanghai, etc. And the staff was delightful in every single interaction! I would have liked to stay longer and that is not something I say easily... I have been living in Shanghai for over 23 years and only started to stay in hotels for the last 2 years after we gave up our apartment. Obviously Hongqiao is not the city centre but if you are staying in this part of town, the Grand Mercure is a great option.

i stayed at the hotel three times over the past week. i chose the hotel because i prefer to fly and take the train in and out of shanghai hongqiao. even during heavy traffic hour, you can get to shanghai hongqiao within 20 minutes. the hotel is located right next door to carrefour (french equivalent of wal-mart) that opens early and closes late. so if you need to buy any supply, it's within a 5-minute walk. the buffets are good, with many choices and decent cooking, albeit the price is a bit high. the rooms are reasonably spacious and very clean. the hotel comes with a nice gym to help you burn those calories off. i would continue to use this hotel for my shanghai visits.

The hotel room is clean & traditional, which is expected of a 4 star business grading. It is located in the heart of changning, not too near to the buzz, which is rare, as most hotel are located in crowded areas. I enjoy the peace, most of the shopping and nightlife is simply a short walk or cab ride away. Rooms are decent and recentlty updated. My choice for the next business stay.

I have stayed at this hotel many times as an airline crew member on layover. The location in a mixed commercial and residential neighborhood is ideal. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants, street vendors and massage/beauty salons. While some may prefer the touristy commercial district along the Bund, I prefer the quiet area of this hotel. Also, getting around to various tourist venues (Old Town, The Bund, the convention center and markets) is easy as the hotel is located in an area that is not as congested as the city center. Nothing is more than a $2.00-$5.00 cab ride within the city.

The hotel has swimming pool, spa, business center, restaurants. Near the hotel are many night entertainments, & restaurants. Not too far away from Hongqiao. Finding taxi is not difficult. The staff has good service. The room is big and has comfortable bed. The light are sensor. TV is flat screen and has dvd player to come along. Wifi is not free and cost about 120 rmb max per day.

# My initial very reason I booked this accommodation was to stay with my dog. The staff gave me a prompt reply email about my enquiry about Pet-Friendly accommodation which was helpful for me to make a booking quickly. # Due to the flight delay, I arrived late around 2am but the receptionist at 9/F. friendlily process the check in. # Room was large, kitchen, fridge, microwave, dining table, couch, bed, TV, wifi, desk, washing machine. Not a new room but clean and tidy enough to let me have a relaxing time with my dog. # Location was great, not only close to the ZhongShan Park subway/train station connecting multiple stations, there are 2 Japanese convenience stores (Family Mart & Lawson), also a coffee shop with its outdoor seating serving salads, pastas, etc. also beer. # While catching taxi is getting hard because all the locals are now using smartphone APPs (and we foreigners cannot use it because we do not have Chinese bank accounts nor local phone number for ID verification), HuiChuan road and KaiXuan road have some available taxies, which was helpful. # At check-in, it turned out that their credit card / Union pay machine was out of order, so had to pay by cash. So you may want to prepare some RMB cash before available. # I am very satisfied with the experience this time. For your tips: - The building entrance is on your left hand side on the 2nd floor after the big outdoor stairs / escalators on HuiChuan road, and you're supposed to show your ID at the inside elevator gate to access to 9/F. where the reception room is.

stayed at sheraton shanghai hongqiao for two nights on business in january. it was very pleasant as room was warm and cosy considering the cold january weather. it's clean and i asked for a king size bed which was was super comfortable. had breakfast in the coffee house. portion was big which was a pleasant surprise. food was good and service was excellent. great for business but not so for holiday makers as it is in the business district so there is not much choice for shopping in the vicinity.

I stayed at Mercure Royalton Shanghai for 8 nights till new year. The hotel clean as always Accor chain hotel looks like. Upon arrival, the registration went smooth, reception staff very friendly and welcoming, except the male Manager by the name of Kim quite unfriendly, hard to smile and quite rough. Overall the staff from reception till housekeeping all superb! Big Thank You to Mr Jay Li, he's the big asset for the hotel. I recommend this hotel as its clean, comfortable and near to Zhongshan Metro Station but must really know its short cut, take exit 8 nearer to get to the hotel. I will stay there again if happen to be in Shanghai in future.

this hotel is just wonderful. located at west side of the city and close to Hongqiao international airport. the hotel sits in the middle of park actually and the hotel guest can have a access key to enter the park, it is definitely a must-try to take a walk in the park where you can see a big lake, home of a swan couple and several wild ducks. Hotel room is nice and clean, most important quiet which helps you to recover from a long day travel. Breakfast is good with multiple choice from Chinese dim-sun to continental breakfast. Staffs are friendly and helpful. A nice place to recommend to travelers, it worth all the money you spent.

We stayed a week; room has no cupboard to hang clothes.; no facility to put baggage other than on floor. Wifi weak. Breakfast can be better with few more choices for international guests. Little efforts needed to improve above shortcomings.? Value for money; room & bathroom clean; staff helpful even though poor knowledge of basic English. Overall, would recommend hotel.

I really love the location of the hotel. It s just right there next to a shopping center and subway station. Guests don t even have to be out of the shelter to enjoy shopping spree, eating food galore and riding the subway trains. The guestroom is also spacious and well decorated though it doesn t have a balcony let alone windows. Staff is generally quite helpful. What I think is kind of a disadvantage is perhaps that the room rate is a bit too high and doesn t include breakfast. Staff should be able to speak better English too. Apart from that, it s a very nice hotel. I tend to go back there next time I visit this city if the price compared to other hotels with the same quality is more competitive. :-)

i was very impressed with the check in staff as they were very helpful and attentive to your needs. however, being a serviced apartment, they should provide daily cleaning, which they don't. overall, i believe they have maintained their units very clean and decent. well equipped kitchenette and washing machine provided for longer stay. extra key to double lock your room best hotel in the building. don't bother trying others (i have tried most). pay a little more but get your satisfaction.

I like my stay at the Renaissance Yangtze Shanghai Hotel due to its location near to the HongQiao Airport, just a perfect transit point if you plan day trip to other destination and back to shanghai to stay for the night only 15mins away. However, if you are intended to stay for your holidays. Do think twice as getting to all the hot spots from the hotel are rather a problematic issue due to unpredicted traffic conditions.

This was my second stay here, this time for a teenage son. The hotel and its property are beautiful. Rooms are large, good work out facilities and wonderful buffet breakfast. Staff were helpful. It is on the edge of the French concession, about 1km from the metro, and I liked being out of the center of town where it is a little quieter.. Beautiful tree lined area. I hope to get back again to Shanghai one day and will definitely stay again.

We loved our stay at the Shanghai Soho Garden Hotel! The location was ideal with it being on a quiet street in the French Concession, close to the metro and within walking distance to many restaurants. The customer service was excellent. Fairy was helpful and hospitable during check in. The room was clean and the AC was able to keep up with the heat wave (thank goodness!). The breakfast was delicious as well. We highly recommend this hotel!

This hotel was very cheap. It was the lowest standard of the three hotels I booked during the trip. It seems to be more for Chinese customers and standard. Nobody of the staff was able to sufficient English in order to communicate The rooms were simple. At the second booking (I booked twice since it was cheap) I had to ask for another room since that one was used by a smoker and stank terrible. The shower was ok. But occasionally the water found a way out and into the hallway. All rooms I had showed water damage on the walls between bedroom and shower. The rooms themselves were cleaned every day. Just the walls were dirty. The internet connection was available with wire and wireless, although in the evening it was extremely slow sometimes. The wake-up calls were not so reliable. During the first booking period 2 out of 4 calls were not made. Also, the external phone wasn’t working at all. I was not able to call friends from my hotel room. The breakfast was pretty humbled. Not much variety, almost everyday the same. The staffs were mostly very friendly. If they would have been able to communicate better in English it would have been much better. In general, I consider this hotel as useful to people who want to have a cheap stay and no expectations regarding a significant comfort at all. Also, the knowledge of the Chinese language is extremely helpful. The hotel is situated at a relative quite place. It is just about 15 mintes walk to the next Metro stations and the Zhongshan Park.
