“Very impressive food and friendly staff”

We are a family of three and spent a night there who visiting Hakone. The hotel is conveniently located 5min walking out of Garo training station. The hotel was clean and staff grated us nicely every time seeing us. The food was the best. Had lots of luxury seafood for dinner and there were well cooked and presented. Breakfast was no less. Everyone in the family complimented the meals. This is a family styled hotel so you won’t get the fancy faculty but it was well maintained with a cozy family feeling. The only problem, not big, was the public bath was broken and we had to use the private one instead. The private was free anyway and each booking allows 45min of use during peak hours and no limit otherwise. Highly recommend the place.

    “Satisfaction!”

Location - It's really only a short walk from Gora Station. After getting off the train, you can go down the underground stairs on the left. Price - Since we are a mixed family, we needed a private onsen, but almost all private onsens are quite pricey. This one is small but has two private onsens that can be reserved at check-in. After 10 PM, you can use it freely. Dinner/Breakfast - Dinner felt a bit rushed, but since there was one aunt and one assistant doing everything, I understand they were busy organizing the tables. Meals are served in a private room located downstairs. When I called and went down, it was already prepared. I wish I had studied a bit more beforehand to enjoy the meal in order. It was hard to understand explanations due to the language barrier. All the food was neatly prepared and very delicious. Drinks/alcohol were available for purchase; I had a beer bought from a convenience store, but had to order alcohol separately. Personally, I found breakfast to be more neat and tasty, and it felt more relaxed. Clothing - Clothes and shoes for children and adults were provided. We wore them during meals and when using the onsen. Cleanliness/Bedding - By the time dinner finished, bedding had already been laid out in the room. They organized the bedding after breakfast. The bedding was clean and plush enough to sleep comfortably. Overall, the satisfaction level of this accommodation was very high. After extensive research, this place was the most suitable in terms of cost-effectiveness, private onsen, food satisfaction, comfortable bedding, and location. The guest rooms are small, about eight in total, so it felt quiet. The onsen facilities are quite basic. There are probably much better places, but the reason for going there was mainly the water.. I was satisfied.

    “Great little ryokan!”

I was looking for a traditional ryokan that offered traditional Japanese futon bedding on tatami mats with the kaiseki breakfast and dinner included and of course, the famous outdoor open-air onsens. Onsen Hotel Gorakan checked all of those marks. It is also conveniently located right outside of Gora train station so I was able to get to/from the hotel easily and explore all of Hakone pretty easily. The service was great. There was one main lady who did almost everything from checking in to serving breakfast/dinner and even cleaning the rooms and onsens. She was very nice and held my bags for me when I arrived in the morning (and had everything ready for me in my room when I came back that night) and held it again for me when I checked out and wanted to explore Hakone before leaving for the shinkansen. I was also able to easily reserve a slot for the private open-air onsen which had the famous milky mineral water (They have 2 available). I unfortunately did not have time to check out the public one but I did get to use the massage chair twice which was amazing. Both dinner and breakfast was good. It was very filling for me. I did hear some tourists complain about the whole fish but if you're not accustomed to it, then just don't eat it. Don't blame the ladies serving it. The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside (in fact, looks a little shabby) but it was everything I wanted to experience in Hakone and I'm glad I chose this mom and pop ryokan.

    “Warm & cozy accommodation”

    1. Good location(3~5mins walking distance from Gora station: don't go any further from Gora station exit, make right U turn from the exit and go down through underpass, after underpass make left turn to the hill, th e hotel is on your right side after walking a couple of min. 2. 2 private onsen room - need to book when you check in and you can use it for max 40 mins.(need to get the key from front desk) - no need to book private onsen after 10pm to 10am(it's opened) - 2 public onsen (male/female) with good condition. 3. room condition it's clean and cozy overall. I stayed traditional style room(no bed), staff will help to make your bed(thick blanket) while you are having dinner and clean it up during breakfast. 4. food they provide traditional JP style dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. 5. staff staffs are very kind and always willing to help you with smile.

    “A good stay ”

This Onsen Hotel is near the Gora Station. Cross a short underground passage from the Station and one will see the yellow building on the left. The hotel is dated but clean and cozy. The room we had was surprisingly big, with 2 adjoining rooms, toilet and a shower which we did not use since there are onsen pools. The private onsen is very pleasant. It’s an open air pool which one has to pre-book a 40 minutes session during check-in. Highly recommended. Other onsen has an indoor pool. It’s not very big but ancceptable and can be used at any time. The real highlight is the food. Kaiseki Dinner was amazing, served with such dedication by a waitress. Each dish was not only beautifully displayed, but also fresh and delectable. Breakfast was equally yummy and scrumptious. The hotel is not a huge one with lots of facilities like many other onsen resorts we have visited. Nevertheless, it was worth staying for a night with the nice private onsen and fabulous food.
