Pro: the room has a feature I have found to be rare. That is, I could control the lighting without getting out of bed. Con: TV had 7 stations of which 5 were black, one (DW) was fuzzy and one Thai station.

An odd setup at the hotel itself. But clean. Close to the 9cean and shops and restaurants. However, the area is slow. Good if you are looking for a very quiet place. No night life around.

Such nice staff and awesome beach access”
I've been living in Phuket for several months and my family was flying in to visit me with their arrival very late at night. So we wanted a place close to the airport where everyone could crash. I booked two rooms at Ruan Mai. The staff was ridiculously nice and accommodating. She wanted to make sure that I had a room "on the beach" where as the other room was only 10 feet away from the beach access. Ha. I would have been happy with either. They also arranged a late-night taxi to the airport for me and then for the family the next day to our resort in Laguna. For the affordable price, I highly recommend this place!

i had a lovely stay in ruan mai nai yang beach...i only stayed there for a day as an airport transfer hotel. the location is superb...literally by the beach. the room was spacious and clean. was pleasantly surprised with the hotel.will definetly come back.

Right on the beautiful and quiet beach of Nai Yang. Room was cosy, I found the staff extremely helpful (which is not always so true in Thailand). The lady at reception is a sweetheart ! I wish I could have stayed longer!

We love the homely bamboo hut style.”
We landed at the airport 45 mins late, and the line at immigration was gigantic (as expected), so when we arrived at the hotel we were so thankful that the lady there had stayed up to receive us! We noted in the booking that it would be a late-night arrival and we weren't sure if anyone was going to be there -- but they were! Taxi fare from the airport was 200 baht, and took about 5 mins to get there. We were exhausted, and it was very pleasant to fall asleep to the sound of breaking waves at the beach close by. Highly recommend the bamboo huts if you like simplicity and rustic artistry (they're really quite a beautiful design). The bathroom is open-air, and it felt great to take a crisp (no heated water) shower out in the warm air. Went to the 7 Eleven nearby and immediately picked up a sim card for my iphone the next morning. Great way to start of in Phuket!

A Gem - great location !”
Arrived 4 minutes cab from Airport (3-400bt) located conveniently across the street from foodmart for shopping and next to a reserve and the Beach for swimming.(Great beach surfing on the point /reef need to bring your own legrope suites a paddleboard which you can rent from either of the 2 kite shops on the beach open (may-october). Initally took the Bamboo bungalow which i loved but you have to like basic amenities I loved camping so this is 2 stages up from that! there is a fan / no airconditioning but there is hot water in the shower. The Bamboo hut has been built on the 1st floor of a roof/verandah. Corner upstairs has good area to store surfing wetsuits etc. (Upstairs the stairs are steep) For a small exra cost upgrades to a ground floor room with small table chairs and park garden outlook also security gate to beach has airconditioning a little more up market depending on budget. Management great nothing was a problem very helpful and well run . Am already planning to return . R

Ruan Mai is located right on the beach. The rooms are modest but clean. We stayed in a conventional room but there are also bamboo huts which are very basic.

We only stayed here for a few hours on the day that we departed Phuket as it was cheap, on the beach and near the airport. Had a great shower. It was adequate for what we wanted. They also have rooms here that looked nice and if I was staying overnight I would choose one of those.

Perfect beach bungalow”
I loved this place for a short transit in Phuket. Just a few kms to airport. I could hear the waves from my bamboo bungalow. It was cheap and basic but that's what I wanted in Thailand. Walked to the beach in 30secs and walked down main road with plenty of food choices to choose from. Will definitely stay again.

pocket of surprise”
We loved everything about our stay here. The area is a little pocket of wonderful! The rooms were upgraded for us to air conditioned, which was a welcome relief. The staff although not all were able to speak english managed to help us really well. The restaurants and other businesses in the area are great and the beach quite a delight. We have come back for our spa treatments and meals four times since moving to the next hotel. AAA+

Pics don’t match rooms”
Only thing i didn’t like was that they lie on the page, they make you pay at the property because they know you’ll upgrade! I got the bamboo hut, which i didn’t expect much but the thing has no ac, only a fan, and the mattress is on the floor with a insect net around it, when i walked in my head hit the ceiling. Other that that the location is awesome, you can literally throw a rock from your room door and hit someone sitting on the beach. The restaurant in the back is beach side with good food and good service!

I stayed in the beach hut. It's a cute little bamboo hut. Very basic. Bed with mosquito net. The bathroom was outside but attached. A little strange because one wall wasn't very complete so the outside can see in if they wanted. Location is great, 30 second walk to the beach. Only complaint, the noise. There is a sound coming from some sort of machine outside, thinking it is a plumbing thing ?? It made this noise every 10 min or so all night.

Simple and affordable, I enjoyed my stay here. The bathroom was only cold water but that was OK because the weather was so warm. The beach was very close to the hut and there is an excellent little restaurant on the beach in front of this hotel where I ate most days.
