“Shanghai stay - 1 to 8 Dec 2024”
Check-in was smooth, since I booked one night before my arrival on 1 Dec. Recep staff on duty allowed comp late check-out till 2pm only. What could have been better was to swap the 1st non-useable night to my last night, instead we paid extra for a late check-out till 6pm on my last day as my flight was abt 1135pm. A lesson for me to check ahead on my flight to book 1 more night the next time. My room was wonderful, just nice for 3 pax family. The crockery was given later upon your check-in - just 3 plates, 3 small rice bowls, 3 forks, 3 knives, 1 big pot and 1 big frying pan with 1 wooden spatula. I love the individual heater available in the bedroom, living room and toilet. My washing machine was in the toilet too, quite strategic to bathe & wash clothes at the same time. The cooker was also easy to use. Just a little comment on the dust in bedroom, my child and I are allergic to dust and we spotted some dust webs near the door and cupboard in bedroom. The housekeeper didnt really throw our empty big water bottles until the last night. They really dont dare to throw them in case we need them? I dont know. I prefer the 1st housekeeper who cleaned on 1-2 Dec. She was thorough. Oh yes, the shower pipes fell off, but it was quickly fixed upon our notification to the housekeeping manager. Staff understand simple English and there's a few number of international guests staying at this hotel. The cupboard on top of my washing machine was in bad shape, we spotted a baby crockroach 1 late night. I didnt report it but i just killed it with my slippers. Overall I like the location as it is within walkable distance to 2 metro stations and the Shanghai railway station. There's a halal Lanzhou noodle eatery nearby, opp area of the metro North Zhongshan Rd, and opp the hotel. There's a few small supermarket shops, a pharmacy and many convenience stores like family mart surrounding the area. Good location for the hotel. I wil reccomend staying here if you visit Shanghai, much less tourist crowd than in the city centre. And the metro is really useful, our station is just few station away from People's Square station and Nanjing East Station. I love Shanghai and the Starr Hotel is the best!
