It is out of my surprise. This Templeside hutong is very beautiful. I really enjoy my stay there. They have two house next to each other, one is deluxe house and one is a guest house (lianlian), I stayed in the second one but visited both, both are very nice. Lian Lian is just finished refurbishment and eveything is shining and new, that is a very good value. The staff are very friendly and nice, I asked many questions and they answered one by one , super patiently and always smiling. When I felt a bit sick, they even help me buy medicine! The location is good, city center. It is about 10 mins walking to two metro, and taxis can be found on main street all the time. The house is just about one min walking to the main street, very handy but quite peaceful and quiet, good for sleeping.

hutong life, highlight of our China trip”

this lovely little family run house is so nice and friendly. bobby and his family try best to help people. without them, my china trip will miss something for sure. my kid even became good friend with bobby's daughter, lian lian, oh, same name as one of their guest house... so much good memory in templeside, really wish i can go back sometime. thanks eveyone!

Wonderful area with extremely helpful staff”

we would have stayed here longer if we could, but there weren't any vacancies. this lovely gem is in to a busy hutong neighborhood, but isn't noisy. great street food and a chance to experience the hustle of hutong life just around the corner. the courtyard is a wonderful place for the breakfast you can order the night before and have ready for you at an appointed time you select. the rooms are comfortable and clean. i am ashamed to say i can't remember the name of the manager, but she was an excellent resource for helping us plan our time in beijing, loaned us umbrellas, gave suggestions -- lovely gal. we were sad to leave.

Perfect stay for budget traveller”

It's located in hutong area, which is nice to explore on foot and soak up the culture. Could be a little hard to find if you can't read chinese. Nearest station is XiSi(西四) and at the door it is written Templeside Youth Hostel. Food and market is all available in walking distance. There is a nice open rooftop space to sit down too. Beautiful place. Recommended for traveller looking for local experience.

love the hotel as you get to stay at hutong. it was a pleasant stay wish it was longer. friendly staff and is also good for foregigner as the staff speak english.

Small and a bit off the beaten track”

This guest house is perfect if you want to rough it a bit and live amongst the locals. It is as advertised,a hutong guest house. As a newlywed married couple we found the room small and the facilities a bit lacking.It's an old building so the plumbing doesn't always work,in fact we had to change rooms on arrival due to the room we booked having faulty plumbing.It's a bit ruff with the pipes running along the inside of the walls next to the bed.location wise it is near the entrance to the hutong,so not a big chore to get in and out.The nearest subway is about a 15-20min walk,and a bus stop just a few meters away.Oh and just note that the walls are paper thin,leaving nothing to the imagination.all in all,if u want to rough it and live amongst the locals,this is your place

I had a wonderful time during my stay, and thanks to the owner and his staff for the friendly and welcoming atmosphere at the hostel. I will surely return on my next visit to Beijing. Xie xie ni!

Good hutong location on the West Side of Beijing”

Stayed for five nights and needed to be in the West side of Beijing, so a good location near several subway stops. The staff was very friendly and welcomed us like it was their home. Would come back again.

Nice place and great location.”

Really fast internet, great staff always taking care of you they were really attentive and suggest to make a booking for Forbidden City, nice location and design, common area - patio is nice as well. There is no PC to make your own work when you didn't get your own from home, but it's hard to find that anywhere else in China, so it's not a big deal. My 4-people's room was quite small. All and all I am very happy of my stay there.

Experiencing Beijing Traditional House”

Despite this hotel centrally located and have a great public transportation access, I really love the hotel itself. Stay in this hotel allow you to experience Beijing's traditional courtyard (Siheyuan). The room is small but comfortable. The bathroom is clean and new. The staff are really friendly and helpful.

nice clean hostel , not far from forbidden City”

Nice frendly staff, good English, had few packages sent there, plenty room for bike parking, close to attraction. Some good eating places near by as well as a shopping mall. Nice plesent stay

Great location and lovely”

You get a very nice place for what you pay. The staff is second-language skilful. I hired a bicycle with them, got a free drink! and the option to store my luggage

mould and damp on most walls within the room”

We stayed in a Room Type: King Bed. The room did have a King Bed. It was a part of a small hostel, where there majority of the rooms are dormortories with Bunk Beds. The accomodation was misrepresented as a hotel - it was a dormortory based hostel that had one or two additional private rooms- but still hostel type. The accomodation was not a "hotel". On arrival, to a badly lit side alley we found the entrance. The area is not particulary nice, doesn't feel safe and is a good 10 minute walk to the Tube. When presented with the room we found mould and damp on most walls within the room - including those touching the bed. We also found damp patches on the bed. No matter how cheap a room is - this isn't acceptable. In response to your understandable questions: 1. Why didn't we change hotels? Our itinary was such that we did not have time. We were forced to cover the damp and hope for the best that we did not get ill. 2. Did we bring this to the hotel's attention? No, we were too scared - the hotel is not located in the kind of district you would wish to be thrown out onto the street at 10pm. We had no choice as itinery did not allow for this. Other things: The "room service" in the room is a take-away menu the reception staff refuse to order for you. There free wifi was not forthcoming. But be assured - the staff will ask you if you want a "tour anywhere in Beijing" On a positive note, the accomodation did agree to store our luggage for a couple of hours after check-out.

A Special place not suitable for all!”

We did not stay the night as planned cos we were worry it would be too cold for our 5 year old daughter , We rest for few hours to get the Hutong feel!

Was here for about a week for work in March.”

I was here in the late winter so good to have a heated room and hot water, and the wi-fi speeds were excellent. Still, room was a little dirty, a cat came into my room now and then (I'm allergic to cats), there was no hot water kettle in the room or cups, and the walls are paper thin so you hear about everything going on in the rooms around you.

北京の胡同を味わえる！”

立地は他の方も書かれているように最初は分かりづらいですが、一度覚えれば迷うことはないです。北京に留学している子に案内してもらいましたが、本場の胡同が味わえる、雰囲気の良いゲストハウスでした。初日はトイレが詰まっていましたが、それ以外は特に不便を感じることはありませんでした。観光するのに便利な立地で、また北京を訪れる際も泊りたいと思います！
