Surprisingly Comfortable ”
I first moved to China in 1986 and the Kunlun was a new hotel then. So my expectations for such an aged property in China were not high. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms were updated and luxurious. L’occitane shampoo, etc was a nice touch. The bed was super comfortable. Breakfast only so so, but overall a nice hotel. For first time visitors to Beijing, I always recommend staying on the east side. As such, Kunlun’s location is excellent.

Spectacular Hotel ,food way overpriced”
This is a great hotel. We travel all over the world and this is a true 5 star hotel. The value for the money is excellent. The website pictures do not show how nice the property really is.There are only 3 problems with this Hotel.1..It was too hot in the rooms. We were there in early March when it was cold and had to leave the window open to cool off the room. They should lower the temperature in the Hotel and allow guests to turn up heat in the rooms to their taste. It worked with the window but was inconvenient.2.Indoor pool was too cold to swim.I told the staff but he said that was the correct temp. They should make hotel managers spend 15 mins in that pool and see what they think then. 3.Food pricing is ridiculous. I had the breakfast buffet with a glass of tea $45 US for 1 person. Drinks in the lobby bar are way overpriced.($11 US for a beer) If they would change food pricing, this hotel would be packed with guests and booked months out. Go across the street to eat downstairs at City Mall it looks closed but is not. Food in the many restaurants there is great and very well priced. There is also a grocery store there. If you like spicy, eat at Hot Pot behind the mall. Great food.

Clean Hotel Close to Embassies”
This was a nice hotel close to public transportation and the Embassies in the Lufthansa district. It is not near any tourist attractions. At the time that I stayed the mall at the Westin was not yet open so it was not close to many restaurants or shopping with the exception of the restaurants in the hotel. The restaurants in the hotel looked very nice but were pricey. The buffet in the morning was exceptional. Overall this was an excellent value and much better than staying in the more expensive hotel chains nearby.

excellent service and great views”
arrived jetlagged to room in early afternoon- found noisy due to building work on floors above. Moved to higher class room with beautiful views over parkland. found one blackout curtain did not draw properly advised staff at desk. 1/2 hr later returned to room: they were already fixing it. as I was getting something from my luggage one of the ladies politely asked me for my room access card and checked I was who I said I was- this is impressive attitude to security! asked for a latte coffee over breakfast- a weak cappucino arrived but after explanation briskly removed and a good effort ( for PRC) coffee produced. staff all really friendly and helpful. I had to check out one night early to catch different flight- they agreed to refund part of night (though unlikely would get anyone in room) which I had not expected but then noted hotel had been paid for by my employer and politely advised the refund would go directly back to employer. Again that is excellent policy. Dont order tea in lobby it is extremely expensive at RMB140 I could ne believe it- across the road at tea rooms I paid rmb 50. drinks like gin and tonic were about rmb 50 so I ant understand this price! also dont order the chinese red wine by the glass it is truly awful breakfast is excellent even the pastries!!! the room v comfortable with cable access fast internet, central swithch by bed turns off all the lights in the rooms.. my room had expansive views over the park also from the bath!!! and you could watch tv in bath though I didnt try that. bed v comfortable recommended

Good deal”
I stayed 4 nights at the Kunlun hotel and it was very comfortable. If you can get a non smoking room (smoker rooms smells) rooms are big enough with TV and satisfying bath (Oldies’ stile). The room was comfortable and well-kept. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. There are different renovated rooms, newer ones are much better. Breakfast has a big variety and also western and Japanese food. The environment outside the hotel is interesting and you are near to different shops. The location of the hotel is convenient for dining (many good choices nearby) and shopping. I would stay here again.

most time are very happy”
good hotel. But a little unhappy is: When I checked in, the guy asked me if this was the first time staying in Hotel Kunlun, I said YES, then he gave me a very strange room which was at the very corner and the end of the corridor, the view was very bad, window towards to the crossing road. anyway, the room is nice. but the feeling is very bad.

Nice, elegant hotel, on subway line 10”
Hotel is really nice: lobby, rooms, even nice external lift, many restaurants, superb 24hrs gym, pool, ... Room was fine too, free Internet, excellent bed; plumbing was a bit outdated, some minor problems, not enough to even make me ask for fix. Stayed 5 days. Price was very reasonable. Location: north-east part of city, on the subway line 10. Bit of travel to many sites.

Almost great”
Ignore the outside of the building. Inside is modern, well-lit and immaculately clean. My room (a Club Room on level 19) was well-appointed, clean, and meticulously maintained by the housekeeping team - who even tidied/cleaned my room on the day I was checking out. I only ate in the buffet restaurant - but there were plenty of other choices in the hotel. The buffet had a reasonable selection but unsurprisingly the Chinese options were more successful than the Western ones. My only disappointment was the bath-tub in my room. The tub itself was amazing: It was huge - and came with a TV in the wall as well. It practically looked brand new. It may or may not have been new but I suspect it has not seen a lot of use. There was no hot water. My shower was hot - but only lukewarm water dribbled out of the tap. It would have taken hours to fill the tub by which time the already tepid water would have been completely cold. I inquired if someone might have a look at this after the first night but there was no change the next evening.

Perfect experience”
room is big, bathtub is great and near window through which we can see beautiful scenery. Room is extremely clean and comfortable. AC is also great. TV is a little bit old but it's okay for watching news. Paulaner Brauhaus is across the main 3rd ring road, we have a very good dinner there. To sum up, it's a great hotel.

Very good hotel - but lacking in check in service”
Stayed previuosly - 20 years! and looked forward to standard previously remembered. Hotel obviously rfurbished and completely changed. Chevk in slow - only two check in points and even then was queue jumped. Redirected to VIP floor or check in. Given non smoking room as requested but the romm had been heavily smoked in. Changed to alternat room - wardrobe door fell off, in rrom safe out of action - shower did not work. Changed again to very good and satisfactory room. Newspapers available at magazine shop, but could not buy - price not known by sales girl. Nevertheless a first class hotel lacking in administrative details.

Better Choices in Beijing for the Money ”
I was traveling with friends who came to visit and they picked this hotel. The hotel is geared to a business or western clientele. The lobby is nice with a restaurant with western and Chinese foods. There is a rotating lounge on the top floor though the drinks are a little pricey. The room was OK with wired internet. The bed was better than the typical Chinese hard. The door in the bathroom showed a little wear. There is nothing wrong with this hotel but I have stayed in quite a few 5-star hotels in China and I thought this hotel was below average compared against those other hotels. The service was just OK. We waited in line for about 20 minutes before the duty manager suggested we go to the top floor to check in. Even then it took another one hour for our rooms to be ready. It was before 3 PM so it is not unreasonable for our rooms to be ready but I have checked in early in many hotels in China without a wait. If the location of this hotel works for you then there is no reason not to stay here but there are many better choices in Beijing.

Great location but current reno disruptive.”
The current renovation work is really disruptive and you will be forced to wake up at 9am. This is not the hotel for those who seek leisurely pace breakaway. The price is reasonable if not for the renovation works.

My first time at this hotel and no regrets.”
This is a very good hotel in many ways. My only gripe is that there was no ironing board available in the room. You had to ask for it. Other than that, it was a great stay.
