Loved our time at The Racha. Stunning location, really friendly and helpful staff and a really relaxing environment. Things to improve: - Some areas of the resort need attention (views under villas aren't pretty and spoil the feel), bedrooms and bathrooms could do with tidying up in places (by no means horrendous). Also the phone in the room was terrible which meant trying to speak to staff to order room service, laundry etc. was more difficult than it needed to be. - 3 remote controls to work the TV is overkill - it's great to have the in villa movie library, but the whole remote set up made everything far too complicated. What was also really frustrating was that some villas had working smart tv's (with netflix etc.) and others didn't - this was even the case in the same villa where two TVs were in different rooms. - Service went from excellent to awful. This seemed to be all over the resort, from the restaurant and bar, to the pool and spa. Inconsistent service is more frustrating as you notice when it's suddenly so much worse. At dinner, drinks took 25 minutes for two canned soft drinks, then the same staff were outstanding at breakfast. Similarly, Faat at the pool was outstanding, then for 2 days there was no pool staff member which meant towels weren't available, water wasn't refreshed and kids ended up in the adults only main pool. - A big win would be adding a table tennis table to go with the pool table to give an extra thing to do in the shade - the pickleball/tennis courts were great, but when it's super hot it's nice to have something to do in the shade - Pricing between the two restaurants and room service wasn't consistent - you could order the exact same thing and get the same size and standard of meal, but the price could be significantly different. - Being vegetarian at the resort was a little more complicated than it needed to be - just add tofu as an option to most thai dishes instead of just options of chicken, pork etc.. With the thai restuarant and main restaurant (which serves thai), make the veggie menu the same - annoyingly complicated to have two different thai menus when the restaurants are literally above one another, with a really limited option at the main restaurant. - It was surprisingly difficult to find out about a lot of what happened at the resort - the whole recycling thing is impressive, but unless you hunt for the info or go on the organised walk, you never hear about it. Similarly the transfer to the other bays - found out on the last day that it ran every day to take guests to other bays. I would definitely go back - spa treatments were great, the water is stunning, the location is so peaceful and the staff are very friendly, but there needs to be a bit more organisation and some improvement in service to make the guest experience smoother, more consistent and truly be a 5 star small luxury hotel.

The facility may not be the newest, but the staff was very attentive, and I had a very pleasant stay. (1) Beachgoers only came between 10 AM and 2 PM, so it wasn't too noisy. Moreover, the staff ensured that they never came into the hotel, so it wasn't a concern. (2) The beautiful sandy beach was cleaned and leveled every morning by the staff, making it safe to walk barefoot. Additionally, the benches within the hotel grounds were also cleaned and leveled each morning, and they looked very nice. (3) When a Chinese family entered the adult pool, the staff properly reminded them and directed them to the family pool. It was a quiet experience. (4) Orders from the room and the beach could be placed via smartphone, which was stress-free. Even requests for just ice were responded to promptly. (5) The restaurant and shop staff were very kind and pleasant, with no stress at all. The ice cream was delicious! Having a room by the beach and enjoying room service for every meal while quietly watching the beautiful sea and sunset was the best!

Both the sea and the hotel are very picturesque places. While there are many nice hotels, it's rare to find one that harmonizes so well with the emerald-colored sea. The interior of the villa is neat and beautiful without any excess, and the breakfast, although limited in variety, is delicious. They also make a special effort with the uncommon Eggs Benedict on the breakfast menu. I was worried that my 12-year-old son would get bored on the island, but he had a great time snorkeling in the sea, bodyboarding, renting an MTB and ATV, and even playing tennis after reserving a court. The downside is that, perhaps because it's an island, it was quite windy, and the presence of very small ants crawling around in the room was a bit annoying.

“Overall very nice and relaxing for a short stay”
I was really excited to stay at the Racha as having already spent a lot of time in Thailand I needed some R&R. Everything regarding arrival was well managed-it can be difficult when 20-30 guests disembark the speedboat to be able to greet/check in them all immediately as this would require a lot of dedicated staff. I was lucky being a solo traveller and had read the reviews so made sure I was first off the boat and hence first to check in. Not a lot the hotel can do about this other than check in guests whilst waiting for the speedboat. The resort is small which is nice-very easy to walk to everything without much effort. Buggy service doesn’t exist but isn’t really necessary as the grounds are well kept and you don’t have to go far. The beach is inundated with daytrippers between about 1000 and 1600 which is a massive shame but again the hotel can’t do much about this-the beach is beautiful although it would be beneficial to have loungers on the beach for hotel guests(they have some very nearby but above a 5-6ft wall so that security can manage keeping non guests out of the hotel however some of these beds although in a lovely location for insta snaps are a pain to reach the beach as there is only one stairway by the lobby bar. Build another beach access please! The main pool is very nice-adults only(mainly)-could do with a scrub of the tiles on the waters edge as it’s nice to lean up against something in the water and read a book or smash a cocktail or nine. I didn’t use the garden pool. Shoutout to pool attendant Tet who was without doubt the best member of staff I had the pleasure of being served by. Chilled bottled water is available free by both the pools and the beach. The villa I stayed in was very nice-soundproofing could be a problem for guests who make a lot of noise if you get my gist but for me wasn’t a problem-could only hear the wildlife outside(cicadas, frogs etc.) mozzies no problem and the hotel gives you spray in the rooms and restaurant. Only gripes with the room were the AC which made quite a loud dripping noise and wasn’t quite cold enough and the ceiling light fittings/door runners/ac vent which definitely needed a clean. A little TLC wouldn’t go amiss. Think chipped bathtub, dirty grout. I did go to reception re the AC but they clearly did nothing about it. Onto food. As a private chef I feel I have a good idea on this one. Breakfast was good-not the biggest selection but again it is a small hotel so you can’t expect the works. Egg station, noodle soup station, English and continental, salad bar, daily changing Thai options along with congee and soup. Free flow champagne is always welcome 🤗 Lunch I always took by the pool. Always timely although it is a shame to be pestered to sign for every single drink/snack as you order it. Surely a hotel of this calibre can afford to keep a tab on your table/lounger or take your room number when you sit down. Dinner was where I was a little disappointed-although there are three options in resort; they all offer a very similar menu(earth is the most comprehensive menu but seems to be that the same Thai options are available at all three sites. I wasn’t overly impressed by the quality of the Thai food which is a shame as really that is all I eat in Thailand. The restaurants simply didn’t exhibit a luxury vibe(service was good but the ambiance was very lacking). Bright empty rooms full of tables 🫠 Both nights at the sunset restaurant some guests received prawn crackers whilst I didn’t-just inconsistent. Now a big one and by no means take this as a criticism of any peoples however the hotel is evidently strongly marketed to the Chinese market and hence on both my speedboat transfers and in restaurants I found myself to be the only western guest. This was a bit overwhelming as I had expected to at least strike up conversation with fellow guests at some point and this didn’t materialise.
