"It was so great to stay in a busy area of Shanghai while waking up to the sound of birds chirping! Close by was great coffee shops, the best of which was Peet's just a few blocks away next door to an authentic Napoli pizza joint. The subway was a short walk and a double line taking us almost everywhere we cared to go! The hotel has its own restaurant and a few food choices available for room service 24/7. The internet worked perfectly. The staff was helpful and friendly while non intrusive. Check out is the best of all set at 14h00! Sheets, bed, shower, provided amenities all great. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Shanghai."

"We arrived at the hotel very late, around 2AM. Our taxi driver was lost for about 40 min trying to find the hotel and when we arrived I asked the hotel staff to speak to the driver about his 500 RMB taxi fare. The hotel manager was accommodating and helped me in that situation. Staff are highly professional, the grounds are beautiful with a river running through it and very appealing landscape work on either side of it. We spend several hours at the exterior grounds before our flight back home. The hotel is very close to the ancient waster town of Zhujiajiao, which we also felt was the highlight of our stay in Shanghai. The town is about an hour or so drive from Old Town Shanghai, and it is definitely worth seeing. You can walk from the hotel to the first canal in town within 10 minutes."

"Definitely ain't 5 STAR and not even 4 STAR. 1. Location was bad. Very difficult to get cab! Even try to call cab to hotel but hardly got cab willing to shown up. Seems like hotel didn't sign any cab service contract. 2. Room jazzuzi was not in good maintenance. While we are using jazzuzi, there was dirt came out from water vent. Hotel housekeeping can't do any much about it. 3. Complimentary still water supply was limited 2 bottles a day. 4. Room toiletries are not replenish automatically. It really tired to tell and ask every time. 5. Room condition not in good maintenance. I believe hotel engineer never check properly even total capacity hotel room are less than 30. Table lamp, sized bed lamp ... even Tv have to request to change. In other word, room not been check properly before hang to us. And we are staying there for 4 nights. 6. Complimentary breakfast..... I believe hotel could do much better than what we have. 7. I believe that the same rate which I am paying, I could stay in better hotel and in better area. 8. It is only a old mansion convert into luxury style motel. "

"We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, despite lots of little bugs. The room was large and very nice (note: no elevator!), though I found the chairs uncomfortable and was not happy that there was no desk of any kind, making any computer work very awkward. The bathroom was nice, including soaking tub, but the shower head was half-broken. The bathroom was well-cleaned, but sometimes the room was not. And while the bed was comfortable, the duvet was too small for two people.... just these little annoyances, I expect better for the price. The biggest problem was the weird internet/TV/DVD service, which was dysfunctional half the time and incomprehensible the other half (the manager stood in front of the TV for 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get the DVD player to work... but halfway through the movie, the entire system crashed for the rest of the night. The staff was very, very nice, jumped to help with everything, but we had problems every day (out of 6!) with our breakfast order (from a quite limited menu). Folks, if you have a small menu listing 7 kinds of tea and 5 are unavailable, and two kinds of bread with 1 unavailable, that is annoying. Plus despite our very careful requests of what we wanted from the menu, they never could get it right. (Ordering French toast -- by pointing from their menu! -- got a plate of toast, etc.) We also found the location only semi-convenient, though the area is pleasant to walk around (beware that the particular street has no streetlights and is VERY dark at night -- bring/buy a flashlight). Unlike every other hotel we stayed at, this one will not exchange money for you. On the whole, we did have a nice stay, but since we stayed at four different Shanghai hotels and have points of comparison, we would probably not return to this one. "
