Very good for small price”

I had a bungalow with aircon and hot water, near construction (a little noisy). Also I had a breakfast (was tasty with a lot of fruits). Beach not near - about 5-10 min to walk (one very near in fact, you have the sea view, but you will can't swim - its with a lot of stones). The bungalow was clean, cute and comfortable for me. I think any Thai's houses in this price looks the same. But Vanalee has a beautiful garden and kind stuff. About clean services - Thai stuff don't so this without your request, cause its your house and they respect yours privacy :) So be ready to ask) Aircon (not very good in this resort) for me was not important, I like fan more, cause its better for body in hot days. In territory you can rent a boat and bike. Also you can eat in restaurant with good food and amazing view. I will stay here again)

Quiet, clean, away from good beaches”

Good value for money, quiet nights, private bathroom for cheap

i got 5 nights with agoda at 8 euros plus commission and stayed for 3 more nights. i really liked the place but it is not for everyone. most people on this part of the island are looking for the backpacking - beach bum - party all night package. if you are one of them, stay at lonely beach. also, bailan beach is just a strip of 20 meters of sand and rocks. but if you don't mind getting every day to lonely beach by day and then returning to quiet bailan at night, this place is a really good choice. you can go to lonely beach for 30b on a taxi; you usually wait for 5-10 minutes for one to show up and the trip takes another 10 minutes. you can rent a scooter and come and go as you please. and you can just walk the road. it takes about 20 minutes, it is steep at times but definitely doable. not recommended at night, though. darkness and drunk drivers make it dangerous. the type c cabins are the cheapest but they are in nice condition, have a fan, a double bed, proper mosquito net and bathroom (no sink). the staff is friendly but unless you speak russian or thai, communication will be very limited. this is important... a lot of the taxi drivers don't know about vanalee resort. tell them to go to gu bay (50 meters away), if they don't know it, try "sea terrace restaurant". otherwise just tell them to take you to the bailan area and walk a very short distance to vanalee. finding it by foot is easy but you might miss it from the taxi.

'Place to rest your head'”

clean, relaxed service with a smile

We arrived in Ko Chang quite late not knowing the island. We just wanted some where cheap to sleep for a night so we could explore the area in the morning and decide where would suit us best. This place was great for that. We were greeted with a smile and taken to a cute, clean little bungalow. There are a lot of cheaper and better deals around but if your a nervous traveler such as myself this is a workable option to secure a place for the night.

Cockroches in our bed and bad service”

your own bungalow

When we arrived at the Vanalee Resort at 9 o clock in the evening, the Resort looked liked it was closed. There was nobody at the reception, nobody at the restaurant. Luckily our driver had a phonenumber of a friend from the concierge, after an hour we had a key from a guy who didn't spoke a word English. But: we had a key, that was a relieve. Then we came in the room and lay down in the bed a we feel... a cockroach! We wanted some help to get it away, but nobody was there. We wanted to go to the toilet, but there was no toiletpaper and nobody to ask. It was cold but we couldn't ask somebody for a blanket because... you know: there was nobody there! On the internet site they promise you a private beach, whirl pool, restaurant, reception etc. but we couldn't find anything of it. 2 days after (I think because of our many phonecalls) the restaurant opens. But still hadn't a great feeling about this Resort.

terrible, but the only option left”

location, availabilty

i was on koh chang over christmas and this "resort" was the only reasonable priced option left the resort seems almost abandoned, when arrived in the evening nobody was at the reception so i had to look for another room for the first night, and in 5 days i saw like 5 other tourist. the people who run the resort are friendly but speak almost no english. the rooms are as basic as it can get, a bed, a roof, a toilet and a cold shower. no sink, no mirror, no cupboard. even for me as a young backpacker it was a bit bad value for money, but i was just glad that i found something in the highest season.

Only basic. Need a few major updates.”

Tranquility, Nature, Foods

Bungalow with a guesthouse type of room on quite a calm seaside. If you look for only the basics, this can be the place, but I should note a few things. On arriving at night, we found NO sign of the hotel anywhere, so we had to drive further south down the main road, turning back, asking locals the exact location of the hotel before finding it. TV works, but only with noises. Wifi is excellent within the proximity of the restaurant, but the signal is too weak in the room, often disconnected. It's a little bit funny when water runs "sideways" from the shower, instead of the nozzle, which I guess may need some level of maintenance. Breakfast and foods at the restaurant are just nice. Good location for snorkeling/diving tours. I was surprised to hear a strange voice in the middle of the night outside the bungalow, which my friend told me is that of a big gecko called "Tokay" in Thai. Exotic experience to me.

this was a great stopover point away from the hustle and bustle of some of the beach spots...great if you have a group of people all wanting their own space and gathering together when the times right..Cheap rate through agaoda. Russian owner with thai and cambodian workers very relaxed.Restaurant looked great food but bit pricey for us ..your choice. free coffee and tea and no worries sitting out on the ocean deck with free wifi. no pressure very happy to have booked this place.

Do not stay at this hotel ”

Relatively quiet as this part of Ko Chang is quite quiet in comparison with other areas

This is a owned resort which was not accomodating. Even the latter seems overpriced because hotel does not have real beach (it is next to sea but it is rocky) and the management was extremely inflexible. In Ko Chang it is possible to get rooms right on sandy beach for 600 baht (at least we were able to do so in the beginning of January). Every small decision by the hotel staff had to be confirmed with owners and if they were not able to reach the owners, then they postponed the decision-making. The hotel restaurant is also overpriced in comparison with other restaurants in the same village and in Ko Chang in general. This was also sigalled by the fact that it was empty during the two days when we stayed there.

Beautiful place but Awful Resort!”

The only pro is the natural beauty of the island the resort is appalling!

to summarise the pictures shown on the advert are not a true reflection of what you get,the rooms are tiny! They were filthy and extremely over priced for what else is on offer on the island as we decided to spend 2 of our 4 nights at another resort. On checking out my passport was held ransom for false accusations that we were too heavy and damaged the moped we hired from them (I weight 75kg and my GF 52kg so it was BS and just a con to get extra money. None of our problems were resolved and we used a torch in the bathroom for light. We are not demanding people but this place really didn't deliver even the basics. Awful Awful Awful!
