Xintiandi and Huaihai Rd hotels & places to stay

This is one of the cheap and best hotels I ever stayed. Everything was very clean and nice. Bed was comfortable with nice pillows. Of course you do not have space to play football, but you have enough space to keep your suitcase and things. The location is bad (so it is cheap) and hard to find. Most staff do not speak English. You need a translator such as smart phone or ipad. Please note there is no Google in China and it is blocked by Chinese Government. They use Baidu. Also you must go with a printout map of the area (both small and enlarged) with Chinese translation to show to taxi drivers. It is about 10 min walk from Lujiabang Road in Line 8 and if you do not have much baggage you could walk.

i stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and overall i'm quiet pleased with the stay. the hotel room is big with simple furnishing and although it looked a bit old but it's enough to keep us comfortable and warm throughout the cold weather when we were there. best thing is the location. it's 10 min walk to the nearest subway. yu garden is behind and in front is the xintiandi all within walking distance. it's also nearby huaihai rd which has a lot of shopping malls.

I've stayed in 1-star to 5-star hotels and this is by far my best experience. Location is superb; it's a 60 sec walk from the station. Self-service laundry (and dryer) is free; free afternoon tea and snacks; hotel is very clean. Family Mart and a fruit stall is just beside the hotel. Staff working there all seem happy with their lives, and that translates to good customer service.

Hundred centuries is a basic hotel with basic amenities. It was an overall pleasant stay. A quick breakdown: Pros: Excellent location, Couple min walk from South Xizang Rd station exit 5 (turn left and keep walking after exiting the station), Check-in staff were nice and tried their best to converse in English, Spacious and well equipped rooms, Nice decor and modern bathrooms, Ethernet provided for free cable Internet, Lots of food places nearby, 2 24hr convenience stores across the road, Small stall selling sim card right outside the hotel - like I said, excellent location. Cons: Carpet looks stained (dirty?), hotel has many rooms and can be a maze sometimes, the walls were quite thin and the locals (travelers and cleaning staff alike) tend to talk very loudly in the mornings, lift lobby area smells a little, Wi-Fi only in lobby, room Wi-Fi hit or miss, Cleaning staff came in to clean the room even with "do not disturb" sign. I would come back again.

My stay has been very pleasant and satisfactory as I was able to enjoy a good Chinese breakfast every morning before I headed off to my taxing day at the Expo. Good mix of carbohydrates (pau, noodles - quite oily though and fried rice), vegetables and fruits (water melon, oranges, bananas) and protein(hot dog sausages, boiled/tea eggs) and hot milk or soya milk. Bedsheets and towels are always white and clean which is surprising for such a small hotel. Internet connection can be a bit slow at night but otherwise acceptable. Best of all, we get BBC World Service on TV. Close to the TESCO supermarket where one can pick up all the local fruits to eat back at the hotel.

It is a very nice place to stay, with nice staff, clean & secure environment and complete facilities. There is a coffee machine and PCs for the guest to use at the lobby. They also help to store luggage after you check out from the accommodation. It is near to Lujiabang rd metro station and a straight line walk from exit 7. There are restaurant and family mart nearby within walking distance.

Very nice location; 5 min walking to subway DaPuQiao打浦橋 station, 5 min walking to TianZiFang田子坊, few min walking to starbucks , Hong Kong style 茶餐庁(8am open, I took breakfast every morning here), Thai restaurant and 7-11 convenience store. Under subway DaPuQiao打浦橋 station has many casual restaurants, included MacDonald. Open hours 10am-10pm. Going to XinTianDi新天地 by taxi only costs one meter RMB14. Room is big, clean and comfortable, only bath room is old style, fixed shower head, but included bath tub. Really silent Hotel, like library. Nobody walked around in the lobby. Hotel is not famous, all of taxi drivers didn't know this hotel. I had to explain the direction all time. Staff is very friendly. When I had a trouble can't turn the room light, they managed immediately. They called taxi to the PuDong international airport for me. I didn't want to use the pool, but I was satisfied at the most of points for this room charge.

GREAT LOCATION : - Right in the middle of Shanghai, btwn XinTianDi & HuaiHai Middle Road. Short enjoyable walk to ShanXiNan train station. - This area has architecture & environment that has a European feel. We even felt like we were momentarily thrown into Oxford, UK. - Walk upwards against traffic & you will discover streets of a mix of local shops & high street labels right up to malls fronted by Designer labels like Prada, Gucci etc. Some corners even look like Orchard Road in Singapore! Fascinating blend. ROOMS: - Pristine rooms, very CLEAN & tidy - Modern classic chic decor with soothing tones of blue - LOVE the crown molding details, intricate ceiling frames & furniture selection - Lots of storage to unpack travel belongings esp with young kids wanting to run around - Ample floor space for those who want to live out of their luggage. Opening 2 large suitcases still left room with ample floor room to move around. STAFF: Mostly polite & helpful - helps tt we speak Chinese

this hotel was used by gov official to host state parties, and to entertain oversea official. so as u can expect, the hotel has a very queit taste of grand-ness and historical feel all around. the service has room for improvement, especially at the front office department. but that is to be expected in most china hotel (especailly those local hotel, i mean not those international chain hotel). the room is just magneficient. comfort level is extremely good for local hotel. it has the softest bed in all local hotel i ever sample in china (mostly they prefer wood hard mattress). even has the different firmness pillows to choose from, quite very thoughtful. the bathroom is another nice surprise. it even has a separated shower and bath area. (again, not common in local hotel) the room and bathroom are both very spacious, plenty of storage area in the room. in shanghai, space is something i think we should be grateful for. the location is just fabulous, stone throw away from a MRT station, and the famous HuaiHai Rd shopping district. very very convenient. dont have to wonder far for food also. all in all this is a great hotel, that i wouldnt mind staying there again in the future.

Our first time in Shanghai so all very new, but this hotel ticked most of the boxes, fantastic location for sight seeing with easy access to 3 metro stations, in easy walking distance to a variety of food places for breakfast or evening meals. Staff were friendly and generally helpful, but many with limited English. Approximately 50 minutes from Pudong Airport and about 280 RMB.++ These times and prices vary greatly depending on traffic, but are representative of a fairly good run... located very close to/on top of Shaanxi Rd Metro. Downsides.... limited food services, but room service looks OK, hotel appears to run a air heating/air cooling policy which is a little baffling...in Summer air conditioning/Cooling available in winter only heating... we were there during the change over... so somewhat surprised when we could no longer cool our room! Our room had external windows, so these were opened to help cool things down to our liking! Internet seemed OK, but no Google challenging

Overall satisfied, Even though the apartment seems quite new, it still needs improvement on cleanliness. windows and bay tops were very dirty. In my apartment, the shower drain was not working. Water drained away very very slow, which almost causing overthrow in every shower.There was bad smell coming out from the kitchen sink. We were not informed on the facilities that we might entitle to enjoy. For a 4 stars one, it missed a safe box. Some junior staffs had no knowledge about Shanghai at all. Otherwise the staffs were polite and helpful. Security was very good too.

Fraser residence locates in the heart of the city. Great vicinity with restaurants for all cultures, from formal to casual dining. Nearby mall and 3C outlets are fantastic for tourists and business travelers. Close to Xintiandi and also not far from the Shanghai art museum. You will find the new Shanghai and old Shanghai at the same time, with the flower and fish market just across the road, and the famous street for local food. Banks are just down-stairs and around the corners, so is there a postal office. This hotel possesses the essence for travel of any kind and from all countries. Very ideal place to stay.

This hotel is really one of the best I booked so far on Agoda! Rooms are very clean and big, with all amenities I expect from a 5-star hotel. Staff service is very friendly: on arrival the reception made me Marriott member which allowed me to get free internet during my stay, just great!!! Food was also good and all in all, I am very satisfied about this hotel. Definitely will book again next time I go to Shanghai. The only maybe negative thing is that this hotel is new, located on a street which is also new and therefore some cab drivers never heard of this street or hotel before. Best to tell them to go to DaPu Road and then turn left at end of Da Pu Road.

An old Shanghai house apparently converted to this small boutique hotel, my room was small but charmingly designed. Best cuddly robe ever. Breakfast basic - eggs/ham/toast - but when I asked for rice because of wheat allergy, the next morning eggs/ham/rice! Adjacent restaurant features Japanese food and the Beatles - fine fine food, attentive staff. Only surprise was that the hotel staff spoke minimal English, so that was a bit of a challenge, but the young women were so delightful and eager to please that it we worked it out. I loved this hotel experience.

this hotel was a real find. it is in a quiet location in the french quarter. the rooms are large and airy. the furniture is of antique french style, suitable for the age of the place. it had the most comfortable bed we had in all of china and a truly 5 star bathroom (2 basins, sunken bath and separate shower. breakfast was a choice of either western or chinese. a little on the light side, but adequate. staff were attentive, although english was a problem for the receptionists. it was very well priced through agoda and i have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who wants a restful place in a frenetic city.

Livo Hotel was a great place to stay if you're looking to be close to Xintiandi. It isn't directly in Xintiandi though, but more like 7-10 min away if you're driving. The closest train station is a good 10-15 min walk. Also, it was a bit hard to find as the signage wasn't easy to spot. It is across the street from the Family Mart and on the side of the art center building. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay - great customer service, clean rooms, cute boutique hotel and fairly centralized. But if you're looking to be in Xintiandi or be much closer to a subway station, then I'd recommend looking for another hotel instead.

This is more like AirBnB than an actual hotel so no reception desk or room service. It was quick and easy to get in contact with the staff who sent me the address and code to get the keys to let myself in. She was very patient with me making silly mistakes. (Who knew there would be a front and back entrance all marked exactly the same?) The apartment was super chill. 3 big beds, nice spacious with high ceiling living room, perfect little private rooftop to relax. The location is also really nice. Quiet, safe and convenient.

Hotel was centrally located and was nearest to a favorite destination Tianzifang. It's also very close to a metro stop with a mall, plenty of restaurants and convenient stores nearby.The hotel had a visually pleasant interior aesthetic, while the rooms although a bit small was fairly comfortable and clean. Although cleanliness in the common areas could be improved, specially in the hallways. The walls seemed a tad thin as exterior noise within hotel could be heard although muted. Over all, for convenience and it location its a good value for money.
