Great Location, Great Place”
The Xiyuan Hotel was a great place to 'home base' from while staying in Beijing, it was close to all the things I wanted to do and see. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The only draw back, the smell of cigarette smoke every so often from the hallway, this smell never came into the room. The staff were always very courteous and friendly. If staying in downtown Beijing for a few days, I would recommend staying here.

Good International Hotel with lot Infrastructure”
I arrived at 10 am, so my reservated room in the annex building was not ready or they thought it was not clean enough for a businessmen (showed up good dressed). So i was upgraded to the main building. This might be very important to know. The room were quite big with all necessary infrastructure. Shower etc. were clean an up to date. The infrastructure of the hotel is various, i defenitely can recommend every in house restaurant there. Small but clean swimmingpool. Staff was always helpfull and mostly very friedly. If i met a staff which does not understand you after the second time, they showed up with an ohter one who's english was better. I had to extend my stay two times. First time i asked at the reception. They told me about the upgrade and the next night will cost the double price, because there were no more of the cheaper rooms free (what was of course not true). I paid it anyway because of tiredness. The second extention i booked over agonda again and asked then at the reception if i really had to change to the cheaper annexbuilding or if they can left me in the upgraded room, they accepted without questioning. I defenitely will sho up there again, if i have to be situated near Beijing Exhibition Center.

Don't judge the book by its cover”
When we arrived at the hotel, we were directed to the check in counter in the main building. The main building is exceptional for the price we paid. Unfortunately, our room is NOT in the main building. But in the villas at the back of the hotel and we actually had to walk there. As it turned out, there is no elevator in the villa. We were really disappointed. Agoda should note in the hotel page that the annex building is without elevator. The room is surprisingly very clean, so is the bathroom. And there is an internet connection in the room. The cons of the room are the pillows. There are two pillows. The first looks quite comfy but very smelly (because it has no cover, and had been used by previous guests without being washed afterwards). and the second is very hard. However, except for the pillow, the hotel is very nice. The location is great, near the Beijing Zoo Subway Station, and public bus stop is just a short walk.

Basic government hotel”
xiyuan hotel is an old-style party run hotel. there is nothing wrong with it, but its dated and the service is not up to standard. by now most of the better hotels in beijing are run corporately but a few are still state owned and operated. xijuan hotel is one of those. my business interests are quite literally right next door so for me its a good choice. for others...maybe not so much. i did receive a free upgrade. the room had a nice view and was clean. the bed a little too well used and bowed in the middle. the bathroom was fine but the water pressure and temperature not great. all in all, if you have a real reason to be in haidian district then the xijuan is fine. you will get what you paid for.

Close to the zoo.”
Walking distance to Beijing Zoo. The sidewalk is wide and there is an underpass so it is safe because you don't have to cross the road.It is easy to go elsewhere as it is on the bus. The surroundings are quiet and the environment is good. I thought it was a luxury to have a separate shower and bathtub.

Great location ”
we stayed in the hotel for two nights and we were really impressed by the service this time; everything was much better, including breakfast, than during our first staying, one year ago. we are very thankful for a polite staff in the hotel. for future, it would be great to have comfortable furniture (sofas) in the lobby to take coffee and have rest.

We had a great stay. The hotel was very nice and close to all the things we wanted to do, like the zoo. Too bad it rained the first night we got there, but the staff did their best to keep us dry.

Cheap hotel”
This hotel is close to Carrefour, Subway station, so you dont have worry to about daily needs. On the other hand, there is a Muslim restaurant. Besides that there are many attractive sites around there such as Zoo, Planetarium. But this hotel only offers few TV channel from foreign, most are CCTV :)

Room quality varies, service very disappointing”
- Do not even think of booking rooms of standard categories, they are very much dated, but still currently undergoing some renovations - Rooms on Executive Floors are renovated ones, but not very spacious - Problems with air con may occur - No 24h room service, one can hardly get his Udon during the night time - Staff is very far from being friendly and helpful - Please be careful with room descriptions on Agoda, since the reality might turn differently... Overall: if you have to stay close to BJ Exhibition Center for business, this is one of a few available options; if you can allow more flexibility - better stay somewhere else, there are so many options to stay in BJ.

The hotel is nice enough but if you are a non-smoker it will be tough since enerything is smoking. The service was fine, and the rooms adequate. The prices at the little convenience store were outrageous but that seems to be consistent in the industry.

Awful place to live-first time to have such an experience-多次住五星级酒店-这次真的有很恶心的经历”
Just summarise my horrible experience briefly (只是简单的总结这次很不愉快的经历） 1. When I just checked in, I realised that the hotel corridor is very smelly. This smell is from the old carpet which is not cleaned properly for many years. All levels have this problem. 2. After I enter the room, the room is even worse with bad smell. What is more, the floor is wet. I realised that this is because the leaking from the bathroom through the wall. 3. We requested to change the room 1 hour later. In the new room, small smelly. But the floor seem fine (not wet but very dirty). After we lived there for 3 nights, one day suddenly the room leaked again in the bathroom. The leaking was from upstairs. We called the front desk and was told to change the room for us again. 4. We lived in this room for another 3 days without other issues. Before the night before we checked, I asked the front desk if they can call a taxi for us for the next morning to go to airport. We were told very rudely that "No".
