Xuhui and Minhang hotels & places to stay

The staff at the breakfast buffet, particularly the maitre'd deserve a mention. He instantly recognized us as we came down to breakfast, and made sure we were happy with everything. The buffet itself is incredibly well stocked - even for the quiet few days we were there. The pastries were buttery and delicious, and the range of foods was excellent. As we booked in the reception staff tried to make us pay more money for a bigger room and didn't put us in a twin room even though we had 2 kids with us. This isn't unusual though as we booked through an intermediary - they often aim for more money from customers. The cleaning staff were also great and the rooms were very clean. The staff in the reception area generally, by the door and out the front were very friendly and courteous. I'd stay here again. Not cheap, but a great hotel.

Great communication before I arrived; I received an email confirming they would be ready for a late check-in. The suite I had for 11 days was in perfect condition and the staff kept it very clean every day. A nice touch - 4 pillows of varied soft/hardness to choose from. The exercise facilities, including tennis courts, were top notch. And on the day I was leaving the staff watched my bags while I was out and had a taxi ready for my departure. I will be staying there again next year and for every trip to Shanghai. A real 5 star hotel for that price is incredible.

Comfortable and clean room although quite old (carpet needed a change, really old and stained). Comfortable bed, clean white towels, clean beddings. They even had a 24-hour power socket. The free Wifi was slow but reliable. Location is super, lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The main difference I noticed between this hotel and the others I stayed in no matter how many stars...the housekeeping staff in this hotel don't smile and greet guests. Not a big deal, but it reflects on the management's attention to service and training. Otherwise, this hotel is value for money and I will stay here again.

My stay here was very pleasant and the hotel had all the usual trimmings and touches you'd come to expect from a 4 star hotel. However, the decor of the rooms is a little dated. My biggest gripe is that my room faced the interior of the stadium meaning that it received little to no natural light during the day. On the flipside, I was upgraded to a suite, and having two toilets is nothing to baulk at.

very nice hotel and only 5 minutes drive from elevated highway which accesses you to the city and also 10 mins walk from great restaurants and bars - sasha's, O Malleys etc room was good size with soft beds and big bathroom -seperate bath and shower. Good choice of cable TV and quick internet Breakfast was very busy at 8am btu very good choice for the inclusive price - coffee was ordinary though good for tourist and business traveller - i was the latter and location makes it easy to get out of the hotel in the evening good value for money for shanghia centre and certainly not 50% worse then 5 stars that charge double

Staying at this hotel was very convenient for me because the conference place I had to attend during the night was nearby. The room was comfortable, clean, quiet, and cozy. The bed had a Western mattress so I enjoyed sleeping very much. Although the room did not have a window (that's why the price was a deal), I did not notice it. The environment felt like the curtains were covering the windows.

Warning! The address provided by Agoda is wrong. The Bldg Name, Number, and Street name (and map location) is correct, but this area - "Xujiahui and Everbright Center Xuhui" - is wrong, according to that person we talked to. I had a mini panic attack when the taxi driver was talking to the person, thinking we would not have a hotel to sleep in for 8 days. But everything worked out well in the end. Aside from that, staying in this hotel is a dream, for its price. Environs - (1) Subway 2mins walk; (2) Two Conv. stores very near hotel; (3) a few Chi Restaurants near the hotel (no english menus, but they have pictures); Hotel - (1) Relatively good typical chinese breakfast (starches like bread,porridge,rice; one meat dish only; veggie dishes; drinks; (2) Relatively clean rooms, bathrooms; (3) love that the reception almost all can speak english!! So important! (4) Rooms are spacious. Highly recommend.

Stayed for only a couple of days, and as it is a service apartment, it was naturally much larger than a typical hotel suite. Great amenities in the room (Bluetooth speaker, L'Occitane bath products), no room service but a food delivery menu (Sherpa) is left in-room for you to place an order if needed. Gym and pool are pretty nice for a service apartment, and the best part: the Wi-Fi is VPN-ready (so all your Google and Facebook services work without a glitch)! Very quiet location, but near happening spots, so good compromise. All in, a place i'll definitely choose to stay at again

Great hotel. One of the best we stayed at during our entire China trip. We were originally unsure as many hotels in China seem to have great photos online only for us to show up disappointed. We booked a superior room at Lotel Hotel, as it was our honeymoon. Surprisingly enough when we arrived, the manager upgraded us to a 2-level loft. It was amazing!! The hotel is clean with modern facilities. I can't say enough good things about this hotel, especially since it was the last leg of our trip. The only thing that was a little annoying (but wouldn't keep me from staying here again) was the fact that the railway station was a good 10 minute walk. If you are just arriving in Shanghai and you are at the subway station with luggage, definitely take a taxi, even though it's only a five min ride. In the morning, the hotel has a shuttle every half hour until 10am that goes from the hotel straight to the subway and train station, which makes it very convenient, especially in the summer when it is hot and humid out.

one-night stay. didn't try its gym or breakfast. It took the taxi half an hour to reach the hotel from XuJIaHui area. It has no place of interest except for Qibao Guzhen (ancient town). I arrived on the eve of its opening ceremony and they thought they have not accepted any reservation for that day. The staff managers were quick to resolve that problem despite the surprise they have had. I was very impressed with the porter and the room. The porter apologised for the delay (no fault of his) and took my luggage up to the room. The curtains are automatic - they retract once we entered the room. The bathroom has a bathtub and all the necessary toiletries. I gave them the feedback that with such a lovely bathroom, they must invest in some bath salts for the guest to soak in the water with

i have stay in the same hotel from 29 sep to 2 oct 2011. after my trip to beijing, i came back to shanghai and decided to stay in the same hotel. this time when i check in to the hotel, my wife and i are being offer with a glass of mock-tail. as i wanted a room with bath tub (do note that not all rooms have bath tub), they arrange back the same room for me which i stayed in the previous week. went to the bar again with my wift and had a great chat with the lady bartender (vicky) and another bartender from ecuador. both are very friendly people!

I saw this hotel advertised on your booking site and chose it because it was supposed to be very close to the railway station. I booked in for 2 nights. It is supposed to be 495 metres from the station: Shanghai South. (There is also a subway station there.) You walk half that distance to get to the other side of the road going up and down steps to do so. Then for at least a 10-minute brisk walk. Not feasible with luggage. It says we speak your language; just not English. The reception staff and Nina who was in charge of catering tried very hard. On my arrival, the owner was there. She spoke English very well and was helpful. I had requested a quiet room on a high floor. I was allocated a second-floor room. I queried this and was given room 706. Opposite the elevator and facing onto the main road and railway tracks. It had no safe. One was provided but it was portable? The room was supposed to have satellite television. Mine had 3 channels, all in Chinese. There is a bar but it does

Surrounding and ambience of the hotel are nice, quiet and yet, convenient. The hotel is just right next to subway station that you can easily access to other places. We're totally blown away by the elegance design and services of the Twelve at Hengshan. We arrived hotel as early as 9AM on our check-in day. Without us asking for it the hotel staff immediately got us an upgraded room which was totally beyond what we could expect. We were able to get some rest from the red eye flight which made a huge difference of our 1st day arrival. We want to specially thank the hotel staff Landy and chief in the 7F restaurant who gave us great assistance during our stay. Both of them were very thoughtful and thorough when handling hotel quest's requests and providing the needed helps. During our 2-night stay, I had slept really well because of the nice bedding and quietness. We will definitely choose Twelve @Hengshan again in our next visit to Shanghai.

The executive floor club lounge opens until 12 midnight. It is perfect business place that I saw many teams having late night meeting at sofa. During the opening hours, fruits and cake, beverage is served. I could have saved a lot of time not to find stores outside to buy beer or fruits. The room air is fresh and there was no such chemical smell in the room air, room furnitures looks new and is very clean. It is close to business buildings and HongMei Road subway station that I can walk to my office. The roads are straightforward and wide enough to see distance building names. The building blocks allow people through it and walls has doors. There were about 50 bicycles for rent at every corner of street or every 500 meters, impressive. If someone do not want carry coins, the Shanghai Metro Transportation Card is recommended that can be used to pay taxi. SMTC can be purchased at subway station. But all subway has X-ray scanner that you dont carry bags to pass it.
